Absolutely fabulous place. Staff exceptionally attentive. Food excellent. Exceeded our expectation. Great atmosphere. A celebration of my 80th Birthday. Champagne Hi Tea.. Even provided small cake with candle beautifully decorated.Will definately come back again. Not not just for an occasion. A lasting memory.

The Ivy is a great place to eat with unusual food on offer. I had whisky barrel smoked venison tartare to start and goose, turkey, and duck shepherd's pie for my main. The staff were very attentive. My only complaint is the acoustics are very poor and we had to shout across the table in order to have a conversation. It is a popular place as it was packed on a Monday evening a week before Christmas.

What an amazing place for lunch! One of the best restaurants we’ve been to in a very long time. Service excellent, food delicious and an ambiance to savour and enjoy. Thank you Ivy and our server, Cameron, we had a wonderful lunch. We were given surprise birthday cakes to celebrate our birthdays, such a lovely touch. A meal to remember. Can’t recommend it enough.

Lovely decor and the staff were friendly. A shout out to the toilets for being stylish and very clean. Food wise, the starters were delicious, squid and arancini are definitely recommended but the mains left a little to be desired. However, the chocolate / celebratory bombe on the other hand was amazing and the staff even wrote us a sweet message. I'd go again to try other food from the menu and would try the afternoon tea or the cocktails. 4.5/5 + £££

The service was amazing and very friendly. The food tasted lovely, my only issue was I think the veg portion was quite a bit smaller than other local places for roasts, only one of my potato’s were crispy, and not much gravy is served- although you can ask for more for the table. But, that’s my only negative! The sticky toffee pudding was also delicious.

This place is beautifully styled, and the food was lovely. The atmosphere was fresh, bright, and relaxed. Even the restrooms were spotless and well-designed. The dishes were served with great care, and the chef did an excellent job with each one. This place is worth visiting, and I'm happy we chose it.

Walk in on a Sunday and was accommodated very easily. Sunday roast was lovely (it is not often my husband clears his plate - but he did here) staff are very polite and professional. Will definitely be back for goatfest

Always seems to be busy whenever I come here which tells you a lot. I’m very particular about how I have my tea and as such, I rarely opt for tea when I’m out and about but the tea here is fantastic. The food is great too, the cakes and pastries especially, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Visited after a lovely walk along the river. The local watercress pesto panini and the watercress and cheese scones were lovely. The service was friendly and the outside seating area was a lovely bonus. We will definitely be back to sample the Dorset ice cream, extensive tea menu and cakes!

Our first visit to this sweet, friendly tearoom. We sat in the window to play a game, eat cake and people watch. The young waitress was very charming even though it was quite busy. My oat mocha was absolutely delicious, on par with ones I've had in France. It tasted like melted chocolate and had the consistency of such. 10/10 for the bread and butter pudding. The husband gave equally high marks for the splendid chocolate cake, the maker of whom clearly understood that icing should be in near equal quantities to the sponge 😁😁

Absolutely wonderful experience. Great menu choice, high quality food. The atmosphere was really fun. Cara was a brilliant waitress could not have been more helpful. Cocktails also excellent and 2for1!

We came on a Saturday and had a dog so had to sit in the bar area. Agree with the other comments about the service it wasn’t amazing. Food was fantastic though and a great menu. The restaurant looked nice, even though didn’t get a chance to explore it. Nice cosy feel, music was a bit loud but that could’ve been because we were in the bar area. Wine was great…

Fantastic food, loved having a separate gluten free menu, all cooked and prepared separate to main menu items so no cross contamination. Bonus my dog was allowed in the restaurant. Great pub and worth the drive from Somerset to celebrate a birthday

Well what can I say, absolutely perfect service and amazing food from the newly refurbished Hunter Inn! The pub in its old form with the previous owners was stuck in the past and very dated. The new owners have given it a fantastic new face and really warm and welcoming feel. I went this evening with my family and we were greeted by one of the owners and shown to our table really quickly and really politely. My daughter has a nasty food allergy and they were so accommodating of this and did all they could to make sure it was clear what items were suitable or they could adapt! The food was amazing, really tasty and really good portions. It was clear that The Hunters has stuck to their word on the menu and used local, good quality food! There was a short wait for the food, but long enough it was clearly cooked fresh and not a microwave surprise. My daughter and her allergy was well catered for as stated and she absolutely loved her food and the decor (we played eye spy!) The price was very good for the quality of the food we had. Yes other chain pubs might be cheaper but that's because it's all frozen junk with no effort. All the food we had was clearly fresh and the cooks definitely put the effort in and gave us a great meal. We did note that along with looking after our allergy needs they had lots of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. The Hunters has a great atmosphere, great refurbishment and its clear the owners are really looking to be part of the community and not just another chain drinking hole. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED!

My wife and I found ourselves at the Cricketers Inn having tried a couple of closer pubs which had stopped serving food at 3pm (totally understandable but we had a lot on and we're running late and hungry!). We're glad we did. We received a warm welcome and a great lunch. 2 courses and some drinks came to just under £50 which I'm not going complain about. The food came out nice and quick, fresh and roasting hot. It was delicious, hats off to the chef. My wife had a chicken burger and I had a stir fry, both went down well. I'd recommend a visit, I'm a little disappointed that we didn't have the kids with us as the play area looked like it would have kept them occupied! Well done.

Came for Sunday roast. Excellent food, good portion sizes and reasonable prices. Too full for dessert but am sure its equally as nice!

Really lovely pub. The staff were great, even spotting my partner's ear defenders and offering to lower the music! The food delicious. The vegetarian burger was tasty, and the profiteroles delicious! I would definitely recommended it.

We stopped off for drinks in the massive garden that's so well catered for and is great for families with young children. There is plenty of parking too. Lovely and cozy inside. -------------------------------- We went for a meal for the first time on a very quiet night on a Monday in December. We checked the menu out prior to coming and saw it was priced on the higher side for a local pub/restaurant, so we were expecting great things. Unfortunately, there were a few things that let it down for us, and I hope this feedback is taken with good intentions. The starters were ok and reasonably priced. The mains were not so Lamb shank Beef Cheeks Pan fried seabase All costing between £24 and £25 The beef and lamb were with mash and gravy, and the fish with couscous and a white wine saffron sauce. No side vegetables accompanied the meat dishes, so it was very heavy on the mash and gravy, nothing green or seasonal to balance it out. The one very small fillet of seabase was ok but served as a child's portion on a very large plate and about three spoonfuls of vegetable couscous and scrapping of sauce. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo of this dish. At those prices, you would expect the trimmings for the heavy meat and mash that was tasty and cooked well, by the way. The fish dish at £24.95 was not an adult portion. My partner had eaten it in a few mouthfuls. We were the only people dining in there and were also charged 12% service charge on top as a bit much and should be optional at those food prices. We don't mind paying those prices and have done many times and more, but unfortunately, the offerings do not match the prices, we pay less for more in town which is the competition and for us personally felt cheated out of the very simplest of things like some seasonal vegetables and at least two small fillets of seabase and maybe a few more spoonfuls of couscous for the money. It's a shame because overall, the food was nice and tasty, but the price is way over top and if the prices are kept that high and nothing is added to justify it or to make it special then it simply won't sustain in the long run in my humble opinion. £119.36 was the bill total with no vegetables added sad times 😢

Came here with a friend for a celebratory meal / drink. The waiter we had was funny but a little too enthusiastic it seemed fake, he also leaned over my shoulder without saying anything to take something from the table which I found quite unprofessional. The food took a while to come out, was hot and tasty. The cheese garlic bread is SO GOOD! The atmosphere was quiet which was nice, cute decor too. You could smell the Indian nextdoor pretty much throughout the resturant. They do put a service charge at the end fyi. 50/50 on returning.

This place was amazing! Never been before and it was my sister’s birthday, we had a such a lovely time! The cocktails were so lovely and the food was good too. We had lovely service and would definitely come again!!

A very nice evening out. Food was excellent as was the service. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We loved the layout and atmosphere and will be returning. The only downside was that they do not sell coffee which we always have after a good meal. Also note that a 10% service charge is automatically added to the final bill. This is happening more and more in restaurants. I think it should be up to the customer to decide how much, if anything to tip.

The service was impeccable absolutely worth the 12.5%! The food was fantastic but the mussels stood out-a must try if you visit. We shared the mussels as a starter which was very well accommodated. It was served well presented in split portions so we had absolutely no fuss. For mains we had the lobster w/fries and the Indonesian seafood curry both we enjoyed. The service was unexpectedly amazing. A very pleasant late launch in Winchester. We will be tempted to try any other Rick Stein’s restaurants we across.

The restaurant is nicely laid out, being open plan, with tables are functional and not flashy and are reasonably well spaced apart. The kitchen is also an integral part of the restaurant, providing fabulous aromas to add to the experience. The menu is not extensive, which to my mind is a good thing. As expected, all of the dishes were nicely presented, with the hot dishes cooked perfectly. The oysters were very fresh and habeen shucked just prior to serving. I ordered the shellfish ragoût for my main dish, which was delicious. The service is as one would expect from a high-end restaurant - our server was really polite and efficient. This wasn't a cheap night out, but I was very happy to pay a premium price and the 12.5% service charge for top-quality food and the attentive staff.

Visited today to celebrate our joint birthday with my wife. Although we hadn't booked and the pub was very busy we were shown to a table in the restaurant straight away. Our waitress Julia was absolutely brilliant, attentive, informative and with a lovely personality. We ordered a grilled chicken dish from the lunch menu and the roast cod from the special of the day, both cooked to perfection and finished off with a delicious blackberry parfait. Very cosy and comfy surroundings after the recent multi million pound refit, highly recommended.

Lovely pub just off the M27/A34 junction, so ideal for a pint stop on a long journey or popping out for an evening meal (was only 15 minutes in the car from Southampton). All the food was great as were the staff. The pub itself is really nice and was dog friendly. Lovely place to go in the winter for dinner and from what I could tell (in the dark) would be great in the summer, sat outside in the garden.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Cart & Horses in Kings Worthy, near Winchester, and it was an exceptional experience. The pub beautifully blends its 18th-century charm with modern amenities. The interior is warm and inviting, featuring original brickwork, oak beams, and open fireplaces that create a cozy atmosphere. The thoughtfully designed pub garden, complete with an outside bar and firepit, offers a tranquil setting for al-fresco dining, we didn't use this space as it was a cold February evening.. The menu is impressive, as is the extensive drinks selection. The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring a memorable dining experience. The Cart & Horses offers a delightful blend of historical charm, modern comfort, and culinary excellence.

A great place for a Sunday Roast! It was my first time in Romsey, and I didn't know where to have lunch. After reading the reviews, I decided to try this place, and the food was delicious, and the service was excellent and quick. We didn't have a booking, but they quickly set up a table for us. I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Old House at Home in Romsey, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The rustic charm of the place, combined with its modern touches, made for a perfect setting. I opted for the roast lamb, which was cooked to perfection – tender, flavourful, and accompanied by the most delicious gravy. My partner chose the fish and chips, and it was hands down the best we’ve ever had. The portions were generous, and the presentation was top-notch. What truly set this place apart, though, was the exceptional service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. They even took the time to chat with us about the history of the pub, which added a lovely personal touch to our visit. To top it all off, the dessert menu was a dream. We shared a sticky toffee pudding that was simply divine – the perfect end to a fantastic meal.
