“We went on a sleepy Tuesday morning for lunch . Let's start at the beginning. We walked in and were warmly greeted by each of the staff members we met. The young lady behind the bar was an attentive host. Quickly sorted out lunch order and drinks. Both came delivered to our outside table quickly. The food was perfectly seasoned and hot. Zero complaints there. It was a freat experience, and one we will be repeating without doubt. The only criticism I had was that if seated on the patio, you can not open a tab, but this is because last year they had too many people run out on their bills, so rightly they have now withdrawn this privilege. To be honest this is a really minor inconvenience and will not stop us returning. Met the owners on our way out and discovered that motorcycle ride outs will be accommodated so I intend to return with some friends for a Sunday lunch......”

“We arrived without a table booking on a very busy Sunday, with 3 dogs in tow. They managed to offer us a lovely outdoor, heated seating area, so we could have lunch. Portion sizes were enormous (the dogs got the leftovers), food was delicious and served nice and hot. There was atleast 3 choices of meat on offer for the Sunday roast, along with a great choice of other mains. Typical gastro pub pricing, around £15-24 per main for adults. Whilst we were there 4 horse riders turned up for hot chocolate and chips, and the landlord bought carrots out for the horses. So definitely dog & horse friendly.”

“Haven't visited for a while until recently, nice to see it's still popular. Personally we thought the food wasn't quite as nice as previously, but by no means bad. The portion sizes are still good, we had 3 courses each and overall was good value for money. Staff are friendly, nice atmosphere. Good to support a local business”

“An all round star of India! Heard about this place but it took me too long to try it! I'll be back. The menu is different from other curry houses - varied, clever and with loads of vegetarian options. The food is divine! Spiced for flavour, and served to look good. Even the rice comes in metal vases. Lovely staff too, and nicely decorated and clean restaurant. I had a coconut-based fish curry, which was very special, but the sides and breads are also delicious. Well done S&S!”

“Been a long time fan of The Hampshire Bowman and can comfortably say that the new owners have kept the rural independent feel whilst introducing a fresh and vibrant character to the place. The ales are crisp and dogs welcome. My only tip: call ahead! Even weekdays can be surprising busy so best to give them a call.”
