Great night with friends in this very old building. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Really appreciated the offer of gluten free and dairy free dishes on offer and the flexibility in offering whatever we wanted. Great cocktails too! Would definitely go again. Worth a night out with friends, a few drinks, snacks and a great choice of games. Thank you!

Great new space for Canterbury with good food and a chill vibe. Once you get down into the basement there's a good amount of space and easy access to the bar. Good selection of games too so had a fun time trying something new with friends! Would definitely come back :)

Such a lovely atmosphere, super welcoming and kind. Lovely table with plenty of room for a big game and our drinks etc. We're a family of 4, with two 11 years olds, who also loved it. 4-7pm slot was perfect for us. Found an amazing vintage PokƩmon game that we all enjoyed. Amazing game library. Great selection of teas. We're local and will definitely be going back!

Such a cosy atmosphere in a gorgeous historic building. Not only a great space to play boardgames but we've taken part in a couple of evening events of Blood on the Clocktower which is tons of fun and a good way to meet other gamers. Definitely will be back and recommend the Dungeons & Dragons themed speciality teas!

Everything was incredible. If you would like to experience Greek culture this is the perfect place to go to. The pastry and coffee have absolutely no difference of that of Greece. Lovely atmosphere, very chilled out place, service is excellent, extremely friendly people. I would highly recommend.

Love it here. The best Greek goodies I've had outside of Greece and the coffee is top notch. I always visit when I'm in Canterbury. Portions are generous and food is delicious and tastes so authentic. It's a lovely vibe in there too.

What a treat this was! Incredible food & drinks selection and even though the particular treat I came for had sold out, the wonderful staff there put something special together for me which was so delicious! Also made my husband another drink on the house as he had mistakenly ordered the wrong thingā€¦no fuss what so ever and even when he insisted on paying for it, they said not to which was so lovely. Really went above and beyond for us and I can not wait to return many more times in the future. For the glorious food and drink, for the stunning layout and display of the restaurant and for the beautiful people working there and making it so warm and welcoming! Thank you very much šŸ˜Š

Montalbano Italian

P: 01580 388182

Rating: 4.8 (835) Price Level:

What a beautiful place this is. Can be quite busy but staff and kitchen handled it like a pro. We were graciously welcomed and staff was super friendly and attentive to all. As they had a lot of customers on the night, they never lost their cool and made the experience extremely pleasant. The liver was a bit under cooked so ended up with pink, bloody mash BUT was still tasty. Aranchini was cooked brilliantly but the sauce was too tomatoey for me as it over powered the taste of the aranchini. The olives & bread is sooooo good. The Black Shadow cocktail was so tasty and tiramisu also delicious. Nothing like a little Grappa to end the evening off. Overall an amazing experience and will definitely be back.

Fringe and Ginge in Canterbury is a must-visit coffee shop that truly stands out. Their flat whites are smooth and velvety, with a perfect balance of espresso strength and creamy milk, while their mochas deliver a rich, chocolatey flavor that blends harmoniously with the coffeeā€™s bold notes. Both drinks are topped with expert latte art, showcasing the baristasā€™ skill and attention to detail. The selection of bakery items is equally impressive, featuring freshly baked pastries, cakes, and other sweet treats that are hard to resist. Whether youā€™re in the mood for a buttery croissant or a decadent slice of cake, the quality is always top-notch. The staff contribute significantly to the cafĆ©ā€™s appeal. Theyā€™re super friendly, engaging, and incredibly efficient, managing the steady stream of customers with a smile. Itā€™s easy to see why Fringe and Ginge is a local favoriteā€”the place is often packed, creating a vibrant, bustling atmosphere. The only downside is the limited seating inside, which can fill up quickly, so it might be best to arrive early or grab a takeaway. Adding to its charm, the cafĆ© is dog-friendly, welcoming four-legged companions with open arms. This small touch makes it a wonderful spot for dog owners looking to relax with a quality cup of coffee in a lively, community-oriented setting. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience some of the best coffee and baked goods Canterbury has to offer!

I think I fell in love with this little cozy Coffee shop! The girls who worked there when we came were lovely. The place inside si small but a lot of natural light comes in so you don't really feel suffocated and there are outdoors benches and tiny tables. I took a Chai Latte and my boyfriend took a Long Black. We added a bag of coffee from their little shop, because it was a very interesting blend. The lady asked us if we wanted the beans grounded and then proceeded asking for what purpose was the coffee(to get the best grounding level). I found it very professional. The Chai is made with a mixed powder a little spiced. I usually don't take Chai when it's a powder because it comes out very sweet but this was one of the best Chai Latte I've ever had. So if you are like me, don't worry about taking this one, even if it's in powder!! The spices blended so well with the taste. And my partner was happy with the taste of his coffee too. Extra bonus for the aesthetic

The Mooring Cafe & Bar

Water Ln, Canterbury CT1 2NQ, UK | Cafe
P: 01227 464797

Rating: 4.8 (129) Price Level:

Great little cafe and/or bar (your choice) right on the river. In summer, watch moorhens building their nests as you sip your flat white and eat your carrot and courgette cake (SO good!). In winter, cosy up with a plate of steaming crumpets and a coffee or, later, red wine and watch the punts still passing, everyone well wrapped up. What a find. Food is fabulous - totally delicious. Staff cool as cucumbers

This place is well worth the visit. We had a few drinks in the bar whilst we waited for our punting tour. Sebastian was our tour guide, who was full of knowledge about the city and had some good banter to go with it. I would highly recommend the tour, location and the the service of this hidden gem. It's a great way to see Canterbury from the river.

Never have I been accosted on the street before with such a positive outcome. Luke approached us in the street, but wasn't pushy, and asked if we wanted to try a river tour. We were interested and took him up on his offer and he gave us a voucher. We wandered down to the Mooring Cafe & Bar , got booked on and to our surprise had Luke as a tour guide. He was fantastic, knowledgeable and full of banter. He tried to engage with everyone on the boat, always making sure everyone enjoyed their experience. After the tour was done, we arrived back again at the Mooring bar to sample some of the delicious cocktails that were designed by Rosie (including the best cocktail I've ever had, The Hive mind). Verity served us and was fantastic, despite being new to the team. Overall, a great experience. Even when the kitchen was closed, they sorted us out with some pitta and hummus to keep our hunger at bay. A worthwhile visit.

Brunch & Brew

Rating: 4.8 (223) Price Level:

My mum has been to the Brunch & Brew many times before and always spoke very highly of both the food and service. Luckily for me we were passing by and mum said she would treat me to something to eat. What an absolute gem this place is, with it's superb menu and excellent service, all served up with a genuine smile. The breakfast that I chose was excellent, cooked to perfection and the presentation was immaculate, portion size was more than adequate. All in all I am highly impressed with the Brunch & Brew and look forward to visiting again. If you want great quality food and service it has it all, highly recommended. Visited again today and it is still excellent, this is now our go to place if we are looking for a breakfast, perfect every time. This probably the best place to eat in Tenterden in my honest opinion, great value for money. Brunch & Brew is also dog friendly, so it is an ideal place to eat should you have your furry friend with you.

We stumbled across this quaint cafe located off the main high street of tenterden. The inside is small and holds about 8 -10 tables but if the weather is good then thereā€™s some outside space which looks out on the main high street. The cafe had a good varied selection of food and drinks. We opted for the all day breakfast along with chicken gyros and children meals. Price wise, you get a lot for your money. Staff were attentive and polite and food arrived in good time and hot. A very nice place to visit on a lunchtime stop off. A well earnt 5 stars! Definitely one to attend if your passing.

Brunch & Brew has been our favourite breakfast venue since we moved to Tenterden three years ago. Today, we had breakfast in the new venue on the High St and it's just as good as before. The food is as good as ever and the new premises have been done out really nicely. Service, as in the previous venue, is excellent. It's good reading on the menu that, as far as possible, the food is sourced from local providers. It was lovely seeing quite a few people in there early in the day and I hope that means the new location will be a success - it certainly deserves to be.
