Lovely dinner! Staff made a special night for us even more special. Food and service was great. A bit pricier than your normal restaurant but the quality of food is worth it! Looking forward to coming here again.

Incredible food, atmosphere, and service. We took our parents for their anniversary and they won’t stop talking about it! The food is a step above. The sourdough and smoked butter is a must. The fish and chips is great value - super tender fish and crispy batter. We also had the chicken, with confit leg and mushroom pie. Perfect. I could eat it every day. The only thing I wouldn’t have again are the ribs from the Nibbles Menu. The cauliflower is a lot better. I think the prices represent great value for money given the quality. I can’t wait to find an excuse to go back!

We had a wonderful evening at The Mutton celebrating our anniversary. The staff were super friendly and attentive, the pub was beautifully renovated and interiors cosy and classic. Then there was the food … we couldn’t fault anything and were blown away a by everything that landed on the table. Already planning our next visit out of London just to come back and eat.

A special mention has to go to the toastmaster, whose enthusiasm and expertise really add to the magic of the day. They bring an extra layer of fun and organisation, ensuring everything flows smoothly while keeping the energy high for the couple and their guests. Where to start! From the beautiful old building steeped in history everywhere you look, to the really well equipped unique rooms, to the amazing grounds it is set in, the amazing helpful staff and service for the entire time to the amenities, food and drink, there are no superlatives that are too much to describe how amazing the Elvathem is. . . The house itself is so so beautiful, the main stairwell and bar are stupendous but everywhere is breath taking. The conservatory where you sit for breakfast with views over just a small part of the formal gardens is just amazing. It's so wonderful to know we stayed where Henry Viii had visited several times as it was at that time the home of Jane Seymour's family and Queen Elizabeth the 1st had also stayed. To walk around where they had been just adds another element to a truly wonderful place to stay!

Lovely food and drink with very friendly and attentive staff. The menu was great with a lot of options, and my lobster and mussels pasta dish was perfect. Dog friendly too. I'd definitely go back if I'm in the area.

Such friendly and helpful staff and a warm atmosphere. We had a wonderful time. So many gluten free options and I was excited to have onion rings for the first time in years! Next time we will come back for pudding. Thank you so much!

I’ve been here quite a few times. The food is always fantastic and they have an excellent selections. Great choices of drinks as well. The atmosphere is lovely with a nice warming fire during the winter. Service and staff were great and very friendly. Excellent pub with great food

Quaint old pub in this lovely little village. We dropped in for a few beers in the garden and all was excellent - good beer, friendly staff, charming location

Really tasty food, staff were attentive but also left us to enjoy ourselves. The only disappointing one was the first gluten free option (gnocchi) we asked for wasn't available but another option was offered soon. I would say that staff need more training on the difference between vegetarian / vegan / pescatarian. Otherwise all good for the meat eaters!

Absolutely loved this place! We hadn't booked but we thankfully early enough to be seated anyway. The staff were so attentive and friendly. The food was out of this world! So delicious and like a taste of Italy 🇮🇹 definitely recommend 👌

I had a good meal with a traditional prwn cocktail and avocado starter and a halibut fillet sitting on a home made mash potato with asparagus. The criticism would be the small quantity of fish for a 25.95GBP dish.

I now have a new favourite pub. Staff is friendly and professional, food is great and the atmosphere very cosy.

Food was good, although the chicken wing portion is very stingy for the price, mains were nice, good portion size. Friend had bruschetta, which it wasn't.. cherry tomatoes cut in half with basalmic vinegar on ciabatta bread.. My main gripe was the service, it took 20 mins to take our starter order (pub was virtually empty) received them nearly an hour after sitting at the table.. The young ladies serving were polite and friendly.. easily fixed, to make a better experience for next time.

The best Indian in the area by a country mile. The food is some of the best I’ve ever had and the owner and waiters genuinely want you to have a good time in there and really look after you. I always look forward to the next time I go. Thank you Monsoon

I booked a family evening meal for 15 of us on Friday 27 December; The wonderful staff led by Jay, produced a fantastic evening with no need to pre-order food. So 15 different choices all beautifully presented with what they suggest is with ease but surely be must be a logistic nightmare! Everyone is given a great welcome at Monsoon and from the moment we arrived, we had fantastic service, wonderful food and a great atmosphere. Thank you so much to the wonderful staff led by Jay. This meal was in place of me cooking! I could not have achieved anything even close! A Very Happy New Year to you all - and we will be back soon! Very best to you all, Maria and Roger

We visited Monsoon for the first time to celebrate my birthday last month. It was a fantastic evening from start to finish. The service was outstanding, the food is absolutely delicious and reasonably priced with great portion sizes. Thank you all at Moonsoon for a memorable birthday dinner!

At Monsoon this evening, the team truly redefined what service means in a dining experience. It’s rare these days to find such a genuine sense of hospitality, and it was quite refreshing. The staff worked seamlessly together, creating an inviting atmosphere where you could tell they genuinely cared about making every guest feel special. Abu, who looked after us throughout the night, made us feel like more than just customers—by the end of the evening, he felt like a friend. His enthusiasm and knowledge of the menu were impressive, and his recommendations were spot on. You could see how much pride he took in presenting the dishes, a sign of a restaurant that truly values its own food and its customers too. The food arrived quickly, hot and delicious, reflecting the precision and coordination of a well-oiled team. The quality of the dishes was exceptional, making it clear that this is a place worth returning to. It’s been one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in quite some time, and we’ll definitely be back.

Such amazingly good consistency! I have been going to and getting take out from the Taj (formerly Viceroy) for years. They always impress every time. Like a previous review I tried Monsoon and the Taj food is tastier, warmer and more succulent. The staff are really friendly and always make you feel welcome. Hart-ley recommend it!

I haven't been to this establishment since the change of owner and name. No complaints as the food was nice and the staff were very pleasant. Service was good but It did seem a bit cold when we first sat down. We soon acclimatised to it or it warmed up I'm not sure? The ambience was OK but nothing super outstanding and would probably benefit from a less busy decor. Still both couples were happy with our evening so we'll definitely consider booking again.

My brother just moved to the area so, first night we just ordered the exact same from both Taj and from Monsoon down the road. Chicken Tikka Masala, Rice, Onion Baji and Keema Naan. The Taj wins hands down and it wasn't even close. This seems to be a much more authentic Indian Curry than down the road which was the bright red Masala you see lots of places. Monsoon is decent enough but The Taj is different league for us. Highly recommend. The Taj is the one on the left in the photo. Proper looking, authentic Masala.

Really enjoyed my first visits here, had a fab breakfast in a great setting with super lovely friendly staff, my friends have recommended returned for the Sunday roasts as apparently these are also amazing! I will definitely be returning thank you!

A fantastic little pub with low ceiling but packed with history and atmosphere. Good selection of beers and food on the menu, and a large outdoor dining area. I would recommend if you are dining indoor on a Friday night to make a reservation. The baked cheese was a great starter, and the fish n chips perfect.

A great place to eat and meet with friends. I’ve had family dinners and dates. Yesterday’s lunch was taken over a long afternoon. So nice to be able to relax in a place like this

Came here for dinner after visiting the Christmas Lights at West Green House. First time visiting and we were very impressed with the service and quality of food. The menu had great variety and the homemade steak and kidney pie was very tasty! I highly recommend the homemade pie (changes every few days) and the king prawn with chorizo too.

Terrific "proper" pub on a village green..Historic well appointed pub. Friendly service and a great traditional home cooked Sunday Lunch. Great value too.

Stopped by a few weeks ago as my folks lived in the village many years ago. Barkeep went out of his way to be kind and generous to my father, made for a really nice memory. Great pint too. Many thanks.
