Lovely bar in the centre of town. Does a lovely selection of craft beers, cocktails, wines and spirits, with a selection of food boards/platters. Very friendly and welcoming owners and the service was quick. Very dog friendly so your pooch will also feel welcome.

Great addition to the drinking spots in Alton. The review regarding food is due to the only food on offer is Crisps etc and I do no review those items. This Bar remains a exceptional Bar with friendly owners and staff. Don't hover, get in and have a drink .

We had an excellent night at Cassidy's, enjoying delicious cocktails and live entertainment. šøš„³ The atmosphere is so welcoming, and they have a wall photos with all the doggos that have visited the pub. š¶ Love love love! We'll definitely be back! š„³

What can I say about these delightful cocktails which, upon consumption, could not say for themselves? There is a drink for everyone here and all of them are as tasty as the next. I like to select a variety of drinks from the menu, savouring each one with the passion it deserves. If you have a specific taste from the menu, go for it, you will not be disappointed. The staff are super friendly with amazing smiles. They are so welcoming and I would come back again and again just for a chat if I could. Being dog friendly, there were a number of happy pups to give me my fix of canine happiness, lots of ear scratches and good boys were had. Being only the second time I have been here, I will be back again, it is so good š

Stopped for lunch after a walk. Great food, especially the dhaal and ham hock. Loved the Ten Tun Tap house beer from over the road. Will come back soon to try the burgers!

I had a really enjoyable brunch/lunch at Dill - great food, polite staff and a lovely, chilled atmosphere. I highly recommend the ham hock hash! š¤©

I stopped at dill on a Saturday afternoon with some friends for lunch and a catch up. Itās in a great position in central Alton and is in a beautiful old character building. It was bright, modern and clean inside, and there were plenty of tables - which is good as itās a popular place. The menu has plenty of options and it was difficult to choose what I fancied as it all sounded so good! I settled on their chicken burger which came with fries and coleslaw. It was absolutely delicious, and the portion was very generous too. The service was friendly and efficient, and overall we had a fantastic lunch. I will definitely return again when visiting Alton, and I would highly recommend if youāre looking for somewhere nice for breakfast or lunch.

The food was enjoyable and fresh, which is always a plus. Although it took about 25-30 minutes for a simple dish to arrive, the quality made it worth the wait. It was nice to see the ladies at the reception handling greeting and serving duties, as well as taking orders at the counter in a well-coordinated manner. I encountered two ladies, and while one, Trisha, was genuinely kind, friendly, and full of happiness, the other seemed to be having a challenging day and wasn't as pleasant to interact with. Understandably, we all have our off moments. Overall it was a nice first experience.

Stumbled across here by chance and so glad we did, a warm welcome and a warm restaurant on a chilly day. Staff were attentive and genuinely friendly and the food was wonderful. Definitely will return the next time we venture to Alton.

When people do something right they should be commended for such. Bravo gentlemen. Friendly servers, excellent food and fair pricing. My favourite is the bacon, sausage and egg bap and a latte coffee - you can ask for the bacon to be a bit more crispy and they are happy to oblige. It might look like a burger wagon but it is big, bright, airy, and very clean (5 star score on the door rating) and a steady stream of trades persons who know where to find good food. I will certainly be back and I live over 15 miles away.

Excellent takeaway rolls, sandwiches, baguettes. Bacon, sausages, eggs all cooked fresh when you order it.

Have had a few bacon and egg baguettes for breakfast and burgers for lunch. Always really tasty and reasonably priced. Canāt really give 5 stars for atmosphere at a burger van in a car park but it is what it is. You donāt go here for a romantic candlelight dinner but the food which is always excellent.

Best roast! I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Yew Tree in Aylesford, near Hampshire, and I must say, it was one of the best roast dinners Iāve ever had. This charming pub excels in every aspect, from the warm, welcoming atmosphere to the truly outstanding food. The highlight, of course, was the roast dinner. The variety of meats on offerāchicken, lamb, and beefāensures thereās something for everyone. I chose the lamb, which was tender, perfectly cooked, and served in a generous portion, far exceeding my expectations. The inclusion of sprouts, often overlooked in many roasts, was a delightful touch and prepared to perfection. The free cauliflower cheese was the cherry on top, adding a creamy, cheesy element to the meal without an additional chargeāa rare and appreciated bonus. What sets The Yew Tree apart is the excellent balance of quality and quantity. Each plate is hearty, satisfying, and made with evident care. The roast is paired with crispy roast potatoes, rich gravy, and fresh vegetables, completing the experience beautifully. Overall, The Yew Tree delivers a flawless roast dinner, earning a well-deserved 10 out of 10. If youāre in the area, this is a must-visit for any roast lover!

Fantastic food, we were really impressed. It was so delicious, I had the beef blade and the jus in particular was incredible. Staff were so helpful and thoughtful catering for my allergies. Nice wee pub with good beer on tap and great friendly service. We are definitely going back.

Had a lovely lunch at The Yew Tree on Saturday, the pub was nestled in a fold of the Hampshire Countryside. The ambience was relaxed, attentive service and great food. The prawns had a lovely garlic butter sauce, I had the flaked shepards pie and my wife had the Fig and Goats cheese salad. All three courses were great and I had a pint of Hawkstone. We will be back! Cheers Michael

We stopped for lunch in this pleasant village from our walk of the local hills. A muddy day but staff were ok with us keeping our boots on! Large bar with two adjacent dining rooms and lots of original features. Just two cask ales on offer the day we visited...both sampled and were in excellent condition and well served by friendly staff. Food was excellent and delivered promptly. Prices typical of the area. Worth coming back ... Perhaps when it's less muddy.

We visited for the first time as we were in the area and looking for a main meal. There wasn't many reviews on this pub so we took a punt. First thoughts were great choice of food on the menu, so many delicious meals to choose from and great selection for the kids. The food was fantastic! We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Also they had a bookshelf with games and colouring for the kids which is a great touch. At first we commented how nice it was to have fresh water put on the table without asking, however they added £3 onto the bill at the end for the water which is wrong, considering we didn't realise or get told this. That is the reason for the 4* and not 5. And also the fact dogs are allowed and a breed I am severely allergic to was sat on the table next to us, so we did have to hurry our food down to leave. Also we did say thank you and bye to the (what I assume is the landlady) and we were ignored.

We held a wake here and were really impressed. The buffet food was lovely, everyone was very helpful and the venue was a great place for guests to relax and mingle. The pub garden was also lovely on a rare sunny day in March.

Being a burger snob and eating good and bad ones in quite a few places, I had to try out this new place in Alton. I'm glad to say, it's a really good burger! Reminded me of Burgermeister in Berlin, which is a good thing. Fries could have been more crispy but some don't like them as crunchy as I do, so I'll make sure to ask next time to fry them a bit more. I can't wait to try the one with peanut butter! A decent burger place in Alton... Finally!

My wife and I have been here several times now and thought it was high time to leave a review. The burgers are absolutely delicious and possibly the best I've ever had. The guys are friendly and polite, even when very busy. I really hope they stick around for a long time to come. Yummy...

Hands down one of the best burgers I ever had. Would put to shame the vast majority of āquality burgerā spots London has to offer. Ordered the double Oklahoma which comes with American cheese, fried onion and American mustard. Absolute flavour bomb. Very reasonably priced as well

A beautiful gathering of work colleagues. A very bubbly young lady greeted us, almost like she was welcoming us into her home and sheād invited us round for lunch. Her smile, personality and humour were infectious. Dark hair, quite small, you are excellent at hosting. The menu isnāt cheap but you do get what you pay for, a table of ten of us were given well presented, hot, fresh food all at the same time. The fig and mozzarella focaccia with fries was lovely. Lively outside seating areas and dogs are welcome.

A leisurely evening spent in a fab, warm, cosy & friendly pub, in good company eating scrummy food- what could be better. Came here on recommendation and we weren't disappointed. Service was polite, timely and attentive. Food was all delicious which included the full rack of ribs, ribeye steak (cooked perfectly) and the huge burger. Stand out pudding was the brioche bread & butter served with rich, vanilla ice cream. Only niggle is the automatic addition of a (discretionary) 12.5% service charge.

Nice country pub with a dog friendly relaxed atmosphere The cake and coffee was excellent value , also had a burger which was nice . Great to have some āfairly ā local wines (from Sussex) Only niggle for me was that the toilets could do with a bit of sprucing up!

We happened to come in for dinner on a quiet Monday evening and we were so pleased that we did! Charlotte was warm and welcoming, she really couldnāt have done any more for us. The food was excellent, the small plates had enough āfine diningā feel without being a tiny portion - this was by far the best meal of our trip! Very welcoming to our young dog & we would absolutely come back again.

OK stayed here on our way to the South East. Normally stay somewhere else but we thought a change is always good. Now the rooms are very good. Shower, hot water all very good. Service from the staff excellent. Breakfast not bad at all. Now missed the Sunday lunch so we had just pizza. Its OK but could be better. Next time we'll get there for lunch time. Worth the stop.

Lunch out with an old friend after a funeral at the local church. The lovely girl behind the bar lifted our moods with her smile and friendly chat. We chose bacon and Brie ciabatta with a side of home cooked chips from the lunchtime menu. The Brie was thick and the bacon was lovely, thick slices and very generous in the portions too. The pub itself is modern and welcoming but still retaining the country pub effect. Would highly recommend a visit if youāre in the area.

This is a lovely place to stay, the rooms are cozy, welcoming and you feel like you're at home but in the best way. We were really welcomed in and accommodated well. We had the pleasure of having breakfast here, with everything being delicious and we got really generous portion sizes. There was also a dog hall of fame. I would come back here again!

You couldn't do better for a superb and authentic English country pub. Exceptional atmosphere, friendly welcome, and beautifully-presented, delicious food. Well worth the short diversion off the beaten track.
Rating: 5 / 5
Just a wonderful place to be for a Sunday lunch - we were in the right hand side of the pub which was perfect. The choice of roasts was brilliant and you can have a duo or a trio as well as your favourite - our party had a mix of all the roasts and there was a great choice for kids too. Great beer and also a solid wine list.

A true olde world country pub that I and my husband love. We eat here quite regularly and often pop in for just a drink. We canāt fault it. Excellent food at reasonable prices, and friendly service. If you want to swap out any sides included in a main dish for an alternative, itās never a problem. Always best to book in advance if you want to eat, as it can get very busy.
