Delicious Thai food in Brockenhurst in the heart of the New Forest. Food was delicious and flavoursome and the staff very accommodating when we asked for “Asian” level spiciness in the dishes. The seabass dish was a particular highlight being sweet, spicy and sour with generous servings of fish. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming to us. I would definitely come again for another meal next time I’m in the New Forest!

Excellent food. One of the best Thai places I’ve tried. Loved the pad thai and curries. Staff was friendly and quick to serve our large group, accommodating our short layover before we had a train to catch.

Went to Cottage Lodge as a surprise for my wife as it was her birthday and our wedding anniversary. White Tails is the restaurant there. The food was fantastic, as was the service. Only 4 for the atmosphere as we were the first people in the restaurant at 6.00pm, but it improved as more people turned up.

Fantastic meal here whilst staying at a B&B down the road. All the courses were delicious and the service was great. I booked due to the good reviews on the food and was really pleased to find it lived up to the previous reviews! Definitely worth eating here if you are in the area.

Had a fabulous dinner here. Amazing scotch egg and salmon cannoli for starter. For mains the sea bass and Lamb shank and to end the evening with the creme brûlée. 10/10 for the food. Feels as though you are dinning at a friend’s independent restaurant. Would highly recommend.

If you want a quaint, cozy, thatched roof cottage experience this place is for you. The building itself looks so sweet and the room inside was heaven on a rainy day. I have a very sensitive nose and was concerned about the possibility of mustiness given the age of the property, but I have to say this is one of the most lovingly kept and cleanly historic properties I’ve ever stayed out. No mustiness or smell of damp and the bathroom was immaculate. The water pressure in the shower was unreal… the exact kind of shower you dream of after a long day of walking. The full English breakfast served in the tea room for breakfast was wonderful as well. Generous, hearty portion served with a great cup of tea. What more could you want? Edit to add: this place clearly is cared for by people that take pride in their work. It’s not flashy or glamorous but it is absolutely kept with love.

Our second stay here and it did not disappoint. Room was lovely and quirky reflecting the age and character of the cottage - loved waking up to the sound of birds just outside the window. Breakfast was wonderful, delicious eggs royal and my hubby enjoyed the cooked breakfast. Loved the small touches such as a jar of shortbread in the room with the tea tray which tasted amazing. Perfect location to stay over after our celebration meal at The Pig and the staff were lovely and friendly too. Thank you!

Really lovely and relaxing stay. Very attentive staff, perfect location for hiking and lots of restaurants/ pubs near by. The room was very good value for money and like the touches of the radio playing when you came in, the Dyson hairdryer and a scenic breakfast. Will definitely stay again.

We stayed for two nights over new year and can honestly say that I have never stayed at such a friendly hotel. The staff are simply superb and can't do enough. It is so nice to be surrounded by people who genuinely seem to enjoy their work. The rooms are large and very comfortable, the only reason for dropping a star on rooms was that the shower was very basic but there was a big bath which was nice. Location is excellent, walking distance to the village and can walk straight out over the heath towards Oberwater and Rhinefield. Ponies are strolling along the road outside the hotel. We had dinner both nights and the food was very good. Being December, we didn't use the garden but it is south facing and we will be going back in the summer to have a G&T on the numerous garden tables and chairs.

Hotel is facing the forest perfect location. Room spacious and very clean with lovely touches for guests. Food excellent. Most of all the excellent staff team I encountered during my stay. They are all a real credit to the hotel especially the lady who got my breakfast as I had my dog with me amazing. She was also the lady who made my booking and was fantastic. All the bar staff working on NYE thank you all you’ve made a difference to my stay !

Quite literally the best restaurant in Hampshire. Everytime i’ve been here the food was scared to see us coming because it’s genuinely so good. Waitress was exceptional and evidently well trained. The boss is kind as well as making the great menu. I recommend any burger, but specifically any of the cheeseburgers as they are all smash burgers. I’ve attached the photo of the empty bowls because i didn’t think to take a photo beforehand. Lovely atmosphere, quiet, enough seating for a party of any size. Also offer takeaway and dine in. Price is around £9 per person but about £14 if you’re getting add ons. Can’t get enough of this place. Thank you🙏

Ate here yesterday and loved the atmosphere and decor. Had booked online, but the restaurant was quiet and was told we could sit anywhere and bookings weren't essential. I'd recommend you do book if you want to sit in the two larger booths for multiple guests. Son ordered the mac and cheese bites, a Ferrero Rocher milkshake and the Smokey Mountain burger. I had the Triple Cheeseburger. Son enjoyed the meal and milkshake. Mine was just OK. Glad to see that canned drinks weren't extortionate in price (just £1.20 a can). Service was good, but please note they only open until 8pm. Location is on a residential road and good to see locals using the place and supporting a local business.

Great American Dinner style burger bar. Friendly and efficient staff. Good food and reasonable value. We'll be back again soon!

Wonderful attentive staff, 3 of the four courses were divine, was let down by the king prawn and crab cocktail, slicing a king prawn in half, and couldn't see or taste the crab meat. Beautiful setting but not a lot of atmosphere sadly. And be careful with the request for non alcoholic drink requests. That could have been tricky. Thanks for a wonderful evening 😊

Such a lovely place to sit and eat when visiting the new forest! Staff and locals are always so friendly and welcoming 😁 We always want a quick game of pool / darts, whilst we wait for our Sunday roast! And Their live music nights are sooo much fun !! Such a great atmosphere!

Excellent quality food good value at £10 for a Sunday roast. They serve it every day fresh. It was served hot by the friendly staff and there was plenty of it. Would highly recommend. You can take dogs in the beer garden

This was an excellent experience. We came here after cycling in the New Forest. Firstly, the staff were super friendly and accommodating. The place has a friendly atmosphere and the food is good. I’d come back here if we were in the area again.

Had very nice stay over the weekend, room was just redone and was amazing. The dog was very welcome and was given a treat and a dog bed with a voucher for a sausage from breakfast. Dinner was absolutely amazing although the service took slightly longer than expected. The location is beautiful with lots of good dog walks. The pool and spa was great however the sauna did look slightly more like a shed than a sauna. Overall lovely stay and would love to come back

Today my husband and I redeemed an afternoon tea for two voucher that I had been gifted for my birthday last August. On arrival for the booking we were greeted by a lovely, friendly young lady who, after checking our booking showed us to our table. The atmosphere in the lounge area where we were seated had a warm, relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. When the afternoon tea selection was brought to our table, the waitress politely explained the selection presented. We didn't feel at all rushed and felt comfortable enjoying the delicious array of treats at our own pace, enjoying the comfortable surroundings. Refills for our drinks were dealt with promptly, as was our request for a box to take home what we couldn't eat! The service we received from the four individual members of staff, two male, two female was nothing short of exceptional. These staff members are a credit to the hotel. Thank you for making my belated birthday treat so enjoyable. We will be back.

Lots have changed since we visited with our two pre-teen boys. They are now both into their fifties - and we are in our seventies and, although we don't remember what it was like in detail, we do remember our one-week holiday at Balmer Lawn with great affection and how well it is located for exploring the New Forest. This time, we were looking forward to having Sunday Lunch - and we were far from disappointed. The ambience was superb, as was the service and the Beresfords Restaurant where we ate was both easily accessible and spacious. Both the food and the service were exemplary and the waiting staff friendly and professional. The staff were also accommodating after the meal as we retired to a small, more private room adjacent to the restaurant for coffees. An excellent afternoon was enjoyed by ourselves and our companions and, as we all now live within 40 minutes of Brockenhurst, we look forward to far more leisurely trips and meals at the Balmer Lawn Hotel.
