“We had a great meal here. Sergio is super passionate about his cooking and it is clear in the amazing (100% fresh) traditional Italian flavours he serves up. One of the best Italian restaurants I’ve been to and would recommend to anyone who wants something much more than the standard high street ‘Italian’ chain. We are looking forward to returning and trying the tasting menu.”

“Such a cool place, took lots of pics of the decor! Very reasonably priced. My chicken pie was great, but my mash was cold, the meat in my friend's beef pie wasn't very tender and his mash was cold too...however, the gravy and the liquor were top notch and, the pastry was fantastic and the flavours were great! We'd definitely go back ***update*** We went back! Friend made a better pie choice (BBQ chicken), mash was hot, pies were crisp and delicious, only thing that wasn't as good was the liquor this time. But I'd now give 4.5 stars. Staff also lovely”

“We popped in for a late lunch, the staff were very accommodating found as a table. The service was very prompt, and the food came out very quickly. There are a large number of options on the menu, and we decided to have the mixed Mezze. We will have added on some lamb meatballs with pistachios. The food was very delicious, and we really enjoyed the fact that they served all the dishes on different plates. Looking forward to our next visit and trying some different dishes.”

“We both chose to dine from the prix fixé menu (which also included a Botanist gin! ). Very reasonably priced for less than £20 for the two course option. I always look at the dessert option first - so I chose the treacle tart. For mains I had the couscous with aubergine and harissa. It was delicious - just the right amount of spice and very colourful. The tart (very generous portion !) with salted caramel icecream was really nice. All the staff were pleasant and friendly - our server in particular (didn't catch her name). Will definitely come back again when in Winchester.”

“We visited the Porterhouse for our mother's 80th birthday and had a brilliant meal. The staff and management couldn't have been more helpful and attentive, including setting up balloons and organising the birthday cake (which we were permitted to provide ourselves with no issue that it would mean no dessert orders!). The steaks were perfectly cooked, starters and sides all great (probably the best Steak Tartare I've ever had) and the chips were insanely crispy! Easily the best place to eat Steak in Winchester.”

“My daughter took me here for my 60th birthday present. On arrival the restaurant knew it had been my birthday a few weeks ago, but still wished me happy birthday. There were four of us eating and we all chose the gourmet set menu. The menus are being changed Monday so they will have new names. They asked us about food allergies. Two of us are gluten free and to complicate things I can't eat crustaceans. This was no problem to them and they adapted the food when ever necessary. The food was exceptional and the waiters took time to explain exactly how each dish had been prepared and what the ingredients were. The food came at a nice pace. When we had our penultimate dish, the Winchester Roll, they served this with fresh wasabi. The flavour of this was fantastic. I would certainly come back and eat here again. I really want to try their vegan set menu next time.”

“4th time I've been here, twice for Sunday lunch, and recently on 2 Saturday evenings. We had the same server both Saturdays, Ollie, and they were fantastic, recognised us, made a huge fuss of my dog, brilliant service, I had pie and mash which was delicious but I asked if I could have just 1 chip as I couldn't decide between chips or mash, and the chef made a small stonehenge of chips in my mash lols, you wouldn't get such fun service in a chain pub. The food is really nice, all tastes fresh and the menu is varied. Sunday lunches are great too, but the Saturday night meals we have had have been excellent on all levels, and it's not too busy so you can sit and enjoy your meal in a lovely ambience. But the service is absolutely top notch. I almost don't want to leave a review in case we can't get a seat again lols, but the staff are what makes the place so good, including the chef adding the extra chips 😆”
