Turtle Bay Guildford

Dolphin House, 1 North St, Guildford GU1 4AA, UK | Restaurant

Rating: 4.8 (9073) Price Level:

Good selection of West Indian and Jamaican food in a large beach hut vendor styled theme. For starters my partner had Sweetcorn Dumplings which were pleasant but a little bland for my taste, some Chickpea Doubles which weren't bad and I had some decent Fiery Wings, not that hot in my opinion but tasty and well cooked so meat fell off the bone, nice to see normal size wings rather than the artificially bred oversize wings some use that lack flavour. Mains my partner went for a Katsu type curry with Vegan Chicken with Rice and Peas which she enjoyed and I had the Curry Goat with Rice and Peas which was tasty but I found the gravy a little thin for my preference. Meat was off the bone which was good for convenience as I had a white shirt on but less authentic, portions were decent although personally would have liked a little more Rice and Peas to soak up the gravy. Two for One cocktails were on offer which we grabbed a couple each, in keeping with the cuisine these tend to be Rum or Tequila based so a nice strong flavour profile and whilst not the best cocktails I've ever tried for the money they were good and offered decent value for money. Would definitely look to return in future.

Pleasantly surprised by how affordable this place is! Most entrees are under £15, and the portion sizes are generous. It’s a fantastic option for anyone looking for great food on a budget. The steamed dumplings, caramelised spare ribs, deep fried calamari and long crab rolls were so yummy and I ate the whole thing, even though it was quite heavy for one person. Perfectly cooked and the flavor was amazing.

Delicious Delicious Delicious - Traditional Turkish food served in a modern and professional setup! Highly recommend a trip and try the food. You are always greeted well and servers make you feel at complete ease. We had the mixed grill platter for two, it was tremendous and completely dependent on your appetite if you can get through it. Flavours though are brilliant, served with basmati rice and bulgar rice. There is also Parking nearby 🅿️ check on google maps.

Decided to take my sons for mid-week meal altogether, as I thought it would be quiet and to my surprise the restaurant was 70% full and I now know why, the food and service was amazing. Extremely attentive and made me feel like I was on holiday enjoying freshly prepared hot food. I cannot wait to return with my partner this time to enjoy date night with great food and atmosphere.

The Hangry Shack I Burgers + Wings

P: 01932 692208

Rating: 4.9 (119) Price Level:

Love this place! Just tried it for the first time and was happy I did. I ate in and went for a Combo for one meal @ £12.45 which included a burger of choice with fries drink and 3 wings/strips (I went for a classic burger with buffalo wings). Chicken was freshly cooked and very tasty - really hit the spot! Perfect portion size too. Aside from that service was great and the atmosphere was chilled (Bob Marley playing in the background) Give it a go, you won’t be disappointed!

I went here for a business meeting and got a 3 piece meal deal. The chicken was boneless thighs, which I prefer tbh, thighs are the best bit of a chicken! It was really well cooked, not greasy, well presented and very tasty. The guy serving me (I think was the owner) was friendly and so was the chef. I'll be back any time I'm in the area.

Love this place, came in yesterday and a few days ago to get the chicken tenders and Cajun fries. It was genuinely some of the best I’ve ever had and it’s for a really good price. Service was top tier and food came quick. Love the owner and staff. The restaurant itself was super comfortable to be in with seating available. I also love the modern simplicity design in the store.

Me and my best friend saw this place every day on the way back from college. A few months ago, we chanced it and have been back every other week since. It is the genuinely one of the nicest restaurants I've ever been to, with an unbelievably good value for the incredible food they serve. I even don't like chicken burgers— but I LOVE THE HANGRY SHACK'S CHICKEN BURGERS. Fried chicken has never been so good. Incredibly flavourful, crisp, juicy and tender. Every time we've visited, we've thought it couldn't beat last time. We've been proved wrong every time; this place just never misses. Recently, they released a beef burger. Don't get me started. If you're reading up to this point, just do yourself and your stomach a favour.

Sorrel Restaurant

77 South St, Dorking RH4 2JU, UK | Fine Dining Restaurant
P: 01306 889414

Rating: 4.8 (320) Price Level:

The food was very delicious, the setting is pleasant and the seats are very comfortable. The service was very friendly, described all the meals well but unfortunately they were rather slow, it took several courses until we got to order wine, another wait was for the bill. In a casual restaurant we would not mind but when paying £400+ for the meal for two, we would expect much more.

I think Sorrel is one of the best restaurant I ever visit in Surrey Area , here is in UK since 9 years I live in this country. I am always amaze how the chefs are preparing this finest food by seeing the presentation with perfect real délice. We was 6 of us, and all my friends enjoying the food, from beginning till end of Degustation menu which the only one choice , and it was perfect, also the Wine list a lots of choice. Love the ambiance of the restaurant , so cosy and relax old house . And the service was also correct , so after all just perfect fine dinning restaurant in Surrey area. I am glad and happy as all my friends they like it and keep thanking me by introducing this place. Sure and certainly I’ll be back again before I left this country. Highly recommended for those who knows the real fine dinning restaurant with high quality food.

Second time at the restaurant, and it was a wonderful experience. It was a mini honeymoon as we got married the day before. We went for the wine flight too and was served by Luke(?) who was very interesting and served some incredible wines. Flora (we think that was her name!) was our server and she was exceptional. And finally, the food was just brilliant and so so tasty. It felt a bit like having the best food we've had in ages in a family home type vibe, so lovely was the atmosphere. Obviously it cost and arm and a leg, but it's really worth it and you must have this kind of restaurant experience at least once if you're able to, especially for a special occasion, or if someone else if paying! Thanks again for making the effort with the flowers, personal menu etc. It meant a lot! Cheers, Dave and Chloe.

Fantastic culinary experience at Sorrel on Thursday evening! Had the taster menu with wine flight and it was an incredible treat, very clever indeed! Even got invited to look in the kitchen, looking to return in summer! For me the dishes that stood out the most were the scallop, barbecued quail, supplementary cheese course and the blackberry waldorf dessert.

Fantastic meal at Positano last night. Superb attentive service whilst not being intrusive. Not been here for several years, as previous experience was not what we expected. However so glad we tried them again and it won’t be the last time. Garlic bread was delicious - so good we forgot to take a photo. I had the risotto and can easily say it was the best I have tasted. My husband had the fish special was equally delicious. The suggested wine pairing was perfect. The puddings rounded off a great night. So give Positano a try and we’ll probably see you there as we are definitely coming back.

Italian Good - Pizzeria Napoletana

1 The Broadway, New Haw, Addlestone KT15 3ES, UK | Pizza Restaurant
P: 07810 271607

Rating: 4.9 (554) Price Level:

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Italian Good, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The restaurant's ambiance is warm and inviting, with a rustic charm that makes you feel instantly at home. Starters: We began our meal with the garlic bread with mozzarella, and it was the perfect start to the evening. The bread was freshly baked, with a crispy crust and a soft, chewy center. Topped with just the right amount of melted mozzarella and a hint of garlic, it was absolutely delicious and set the tone for the meal to come. Mains: For the main course, we opted for pizza, and it did not disappoint. The crust was thin and perfectly crisp, with a light char that added just the right amount of flavour. The toppings were fresh and generously portioned, with the mozzarella melting beautifully over the vibrant tomato sauce. Whether you prefer a classic Margherita or something more adventurous, the pizzas at Italian Good are sure to satisfy any craving. Desserts: The desserts were the true highlight of the evening. We indulged in the salted caramel gelato, which was smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced between sweet and salty. To top it off, we also shared a Nutella pizza—a decadent treat with a warm, soft crust generously slathered in Nutella and topped with a dusting of powdered sugar. It was a delightful combination, satisfying our sweet tooth in the best possible way. Service: The service was attentive without being overbearing. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations, enhancing the overall dining experience. Overall: Italian Good is a gem of an Italian restaurant, particularly if you appreciate authentic pizza and indulgent desserts. Whether you're there for a full meal or just to enjoy their incredible sweet offerings, you won’t be disappointed. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy top-notch Italian cuisine with a touch of elegance

Our First time trying this place in New haw as I have been recommended by my friend and her partner that’s Italian (so it is Italian approved!). When we walked in I was in love with the decor of the restaurant with lemons, chilli’s and garlic hanging on the ceiling and the pretty wall tiled. The music and the vibe of the place was fantastic, they even had a tv showcasing their cooking and prep BTS. The service was top notch and very welcoming. We had a lovely convo with Luca and made us feel like we are in South of Italy! Ordered 3 pizzas and I asked to remove rocket in one of them and he kindly put more mushrooms instead. We also got 2 gelato milkshakes which was nice but maybe use bigger straw as I got pistachio and I struggled to get the nuts in through the straw. But nonetheless, They were so lovely and even gave us complementary dessert which we enjoyed so much! We are defo coming back for more and more! Thank you Luca and the team!

Absolutely fantastic experience at Italian Good! Luca, the owner, was incredibly warm and friendly, making us feel right at home. The ambiance was amazing, with lemons hanging from the ceiling that gave the place an authentic Napolitano vibe—like a little slice of Italy! We ordered the Quattro Stagioni, Prosciutto Cotto, and Boscaiola pizzas, and they were all superb—real Italian pizza done right. To top it off, we enjoyed their incredible gelato milkshakes (Biscoff and Pistachio were heavenly) and were even treated to some complimentary dessert cakes. Such an authentic and delightful culinary experience. Highly recommend!

What a lovely restaurant, The team were excellent, efficient, friendly and so polite. The gentleman who welcomed us on arrival was so welcoming and friendly. We booked for vegan food, four tasty course and weren't disappointed. Tasty freshly cooked vegan food and no fake produced products. The main course and rice pudding were exceptional. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. We particularly liked the umbrella fountain at the front of the premises. Unfortunately we forgot to take photos.

Wonderful experience. Found the venue on a review site. Booked a table, must admit it was 75 minutes drive away, but oh so worth it! Small bread "loaf" cut into four for us. Crumbly and delicious. We deliberately chose different dishes for each of the four courses to try as many dishes as possible. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious. Highlights are hard to identify, though I never thought I would have a liver parfait as good as Hestons, I was wrong. Special mention for the mock cocktails but my goodness the roast potatoes were quite exceptional too. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Very clean toilet. Met chef at the end of the meal, what a delightful passionate chef. Well worth the trip for some frankly quite exceptional food.

Came during a torrential downpour that flooded part of the premises. The evening was thus slightly slower on the kitchen side of things which was understandable. Heck, if a Masterchef challenge was "Can you still cook to the required standard after you deal with a flood," at least we know it's doable! There are certainly aspects that hold this establishment back from michelin-star territory, but the friendly service isn't one of them. Even after having to muck in and deal with the flooding, it was still warm, friendly and helpful. The mark deducted for atmosphere was just that- it is a tad stuffy/warm in the main dining area that made it uncomfortable to the point we asked to move to the converted area just outside (which wasn't an issue at all) Judged against the midweek treat prices, it's pretty good value for this type of dining. That said, I'm not sure I would come back for the full price menu- reference made to the lamb which, although delicious and faultless, as nevertheless just a single sausages worth of meat. We will be back - hopefully with better weather!
