This was our first visit to the area so we asked a shop assistant if she could recommend a nice place for a birthday lunch. Without hesitation she recommended Positano. We were so glad she did. Everything was just brilliant from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious (we had the fried chicken in a white wine mushroom sauce and the salmon with spinach and crushed potatoes😋), the staff were very friendly and attentive throughout all in a lovely relaxing atmosphere too. Thank you for my birthday candle in my dessert it was a lovely thoughtful touch and most certainly the icing on the cake after a wonderful lunch! 😃🥰🎂

Beautiful lunch with my neighbour at Positano. I’ve wanted to come here hit a long time but it was always fully booked. Today we had a great lunch, great service, and great atmosphere. Food was delicious and the best tiramisù I’ve had in a long time. Brilliant, I’ll take other friends here too.

Fantastic meal at Positano last night. Superb attentive service whilst not being intrusive. Not been here for several years, as previous experience was not what we expected. However so glad we tried them again and it won’t be the last time. Garlic bread was delicious - so good we forgot to take a photo. I had the risotto and can easily say it was the best I have tasted. My husband had the fish special was equally delicious. The suggested wine pairing was perfect. The puddings rounded off a great night. So give Positano a try and we’ll probably see you there as we are definitely coming back.

Great, middle of nowhere country pub. We visited today after our 6 mile hike. The pub is dog friendly, which was great for us as we had borrowed our friends dog for the day. Dog bowls located inside French doors in patio garden area, with a huge keg outside to fill them. Car park is spacious. Play area. Nice, clean restaurant and toilets. Food was served quickly and was presented beautifully, hot and with a friendly smile. Not overly priced, a lovely atmosphere and made to feel very welcome. We will return.

I read somewhere that this place boasts the best Roast in the county, and they're not wrong. Big, hearty portions with a great range of offerings in additions to the classics. Desserts were the surprise package, get the Yorkie & Butter pudding, unbelievable Jeff. Staff looked after us really well and the setting is delightful. Top marks all round!

Booked this lovely pub for our 21st Wedding Anniversary as I have passed it many a time on bike rides with my club and always thought of giving it a try. The pub is in a lovely setting in the Surrey Hills and has a lovely country/gastro pub vibe to it with good parking and spacious garden area with rattan furniture. Inside is very modern and clean, staff are super friendly and attentive, with food coming out in a very timely manner. The menu has lots to choose from with plenty of vegan options so shouldn't be issues with food selection. Drinks are of a good selection with a cocktail menu and are freshly made without pre-made syrups. All in all a great place to celebrate our anniversary and if you're not celebrating anything, a lovely place to eat and drink in the Surrey Hills.

What a find, wonderful service, grateful food, and warm cosy atmosphere. A Soth African chef who understands how to grill meat!! Highly recommended! We will be back!!

A pleasant visit, warm place not too busy for a Sunday afternoon. The food took a while to arrive but was very acceptable. The plates however are a puzzle ! Bowls are not really suited to Sunday roast, never the less we would probably go back.

This pub is an absolutely gorgeous place, from service, to interiors. And the food was just beautiful! Typical local village pub, very cozy, lovely atmosphere. A lot of locals at the bar and dining section, very intimate. Children's roast was probably as big as adults, and may I say, best roast I've ever had!!!!

Didn't have any of the food so can't comment on it, but this is a very cosy and well looked-after pub. I was served quickly and had a few different ciders to choose from. Tables were clean, as were the toilets. A great pit stop on my walk around Puttenham.

Lovely place, recommended to me, had high expectations and wasn’t disappointed. Food was amazing! Big portions, we didnt have dessert only because we were so full from the lovely main. We had a pulled pork burgers.

Lovely location and decor. We had a sandwich and ploughman's, they tasted great and we loved the service.

Stopped here on a charity cycle ride from London to Poole. What an amazing pitstop for 15 minutes. Internally, the cafe is incredibly cosy, with a quintessential English feel to it, in a quiet, bucolic setting. When it comes to cakes, they offer all the classics, and by the taste of the granola bar I ordered, I reckon they have the recipes bang on. I also noticed a wide selection of teas, which I will have to try next time. Definitely worth stopping by if you are in the area and “gasping for that cuppa!”

Amazing place , amazing staff and I love coming here. Have been there before as well. This time reached after 3 pm so food options were limited . So we tried hot chocolate and scones and loved both. Fruit Scone was really really nice. Next time I will try the cheese scone :)

I stopped here for a romantic meal with my partner. The atmosphere was fantastic - Traditional pub meets unpretentious luxury. The location was stunning, we ate on the bank of the river with the gentle sound of flowing water in the background. The service was prompt, friendly and competent. BUT THE FOOD!.. was truly excellent! We shared the 22oz steak and I can honestly say it was one of the best steaks either of us had ever had. This is a wonderful place to enjoy a special night out or just a relaxing Saturday afternoon with friends. Maximum stars from me 🌟

Little scenic spots on the riverside over this old mill. Warm hut with cover seating available, with complimentary blankets and above heaters for chilly nights, small bar inside with all the favourite and popular spirits and some exclusive brands unseen anywhere else. The stag, always features a top notch menu , when passing through the south east we always pop by as we love and enjoy everything the stag offer and the staff are always so kind and welcoming. They also have limited luxury rooms however we have never stayed.

Me and my partner went for winter wonderland dinner last night to celebrate my birthday and we had a great time. The food was scrumptious and the staff were super friendly and attentive. We loved the restaurant, warm evening with roaring fire on.

Loved it! Perfect little bunkhouse with all the basics you need for a comfortable night. Volunteer wardens are welcoming and helpful. Unheated so bring your sleeping bag. Will be back again

This would be 4* but its not the Eco-guys fault that there is no mobile reception in the barn. This is a fantastic place to stay if you passing through as a camper, walker, cyclist etc. They place is ran by volunteers that welcome you and interact at a comfortable level. The rates are very good (for the area) though you might need to call and check they are open that day. Tuesday's were tentative when I was last there. You'll be able to use the staff kitchen if needed, there is a shower room, parking, bike store and three large communal beds. Sharing with a stranger isn't awkward (if it happens) as each of the three communal beds is approx 3 meters square. So if your in a sleeping bag (you should be due to circumstance) and have a stranger in your area don't worry. It's a large barn and ALL three bedding areas are connected, no doors or divisions. Just a curtain to seperate the three sleeping areas from each other. There are two pubs very close-by both of which are extremely welcoming and offer good prices on the food and drinks. If your needing to exercise there is a lovely road run (out and left) 3 miles and to the neighbouring villages cenotaph and back. Or a steep hill for fell-runners to enjoy even closer to the barn. A really nice place and its all ECO powered!

Really enjoyed using this eco-friendly, independent hostel as a stopping over point while we walked across the Surrey downs, allowing us to pack lighter without tents or camp stoves and enjoy the walking more. Super reasonably priced.

Rosie couldn't have been more obliging - lovely person. There was a heavy duty snorer in the bunkhouse, but he seemed a nice chap, nevertheless!

Love this place. The perfect quintessential English pub with great food, wine and ambience. Warm and friendly waiting staff in white shirts, traditionally laid tables and a great menu with references back to the 70s - prawn cocktails, wellingtons, liver and bacon. The food was brilliant.

We held my father’s wake at the Withies - a fitting tribute he would have loved this place! The staff were so helpful and the food delicious. So pleased we found you and so appreciate all you did. Thank you

First visit to meet a friend. Very busy as it was December but a welcoming fire was almost the first thing we saw. There was an a la carte or a festive menu to choose from. The soup of the day and fishcakes were lovely and service was great. It will be our new favourite place to meet
