The Dog House - Beddington

14 The Broadway, Beddington, Croydon CR0 4QR, UK | Pub
P: 07982 619119

Rating: 4.8 (76) Price Level:

I visited The Dog House on a Sunday afternoon for the first time and they had an excellent musician on. I was drinking stout and my friends had IPAs. All of the beer was top notch and reasonably priced. The owner is very friendly and helpful and we felt extremely welcomed by the pub's regular crowd. Overall a highly recommended micropub with a great range of drinks.

Lovel little alehouse (brewery/bar) across the Croydon Rd from the Plough pub. A small place but with plenty of room (wheelchair friendly) with a very respectable range of ales and ciders available. The staff and other locals were very friendly which made the visit that much nicer. The Lunebrew stout I had was absolutely wonderful and my friend's Turbulent Priest Bitter (Wantsum brewery) was also excellent apparently.

Not been here before. Pleasantly surprised! It's actually a nice little place. Suited to the beer and cider lover, there's a huge selection. No food other than snacks. Unisex WC. If you're thinking of getting there by tram to Beddington Lane and the 463 bus, get off instead at Therapia Lane and there are 2 bus routes to choose from: the S4 and the 463. They're not from the same bus stop, so check your live bus arrivals app while on the tram to decide which one to go for.

Gobsmacked to find this delightful micropub on our doorstep!! Popped in on a Sunday, the owner is wonderful and knowledgeable too. Decent prices were a pleasant surprise! We sat at the window and the place was absolutely buzzing. I need a new MONZO pot especially for the money we're gonna spend in this place over the coming months.

Came here yesterday(Saturday PM) and really enjoyed it. I'm pretty into my craft beer and ales and the ale here is clearly kept really well. I had couple of ales and a porter. Decent selection which I understand rotates fairly regularly. Friendly owner too. Will be back again soon I'm sure.

We booked Chey for our wedding buffet in a Central London venue. Despite the limitations of the venue, Chey was outstanding in providing alternatives, accommodating our last minute requests and always keeping us up to date with any important information. The food was so good that some of our guests got a second and even a third serving. Everyone complimented us on the food! If you are looking for a caterer, look no further! Chey is your guy and he will exceed your expectations. THANK YOU once again, you have been amazing. Much love, Elisabetta & Simao

The team from House of Rice were an important part of a successful birthday party. All the guests loved the food and gave great feedback. Chey was easy to deal with leading up to the event and Comms were clear and timely. On the day itself the team turned up on time, ran a great service and tidied up when leaving. I'd use them again and recommend their services.

I cannot recommend House of Rice enough. They brought their mobile truck and cooked in our garden. The food was totally amazing, with a great fresh menu to choose from including vegetarian, the portions were huge with seconds and there was even food left over for the next day. Our guests loved it and we had so many compliments many taking details so they can book Chey too. Thank you so much both Chey for making my husbands 60th birthday so special.

We went there on Christmas eve and took the special menu they offered for £29.95. It was a good choice. For your main meal, you had different options to choose from. It included fish and meat. I selected the mixed grill, and it was more than enough, and the selection was great.

What a great experience. The service was really spot on. Greeted at the door by the waitress and got a nice table. Seating was comfortable and the overall environment inside was really nice. Not overboard but really well done. The music was on light enough to hear and not be overwhelmingly loud. Ordered drinks right away and an appetizer that came out quickly and was quite enjoyable. The meals themselves came out in a timely manner. We never felt rushed or anxious about getting our food, or being rushed to eat. We got two different chicken meals and both were moist and delicious and really didn’t need any sauces although I did use some of the garlic and chili sauce, quite sparingly because the taste was really on point. Got an order of sutlac for desert and it was plentiful to split between two of us. Closed the meal off with some Turkish tea that was quite delightful. I have two days left in London and you can count on my last meal being here.

I recently dined at Mithras, a Turkish restaurant and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with beautiful Turkish decor that set the tone for a great meal. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed without being intrusive. The food was delicious—each dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. We started with a mix of mezze, which included creamy hummus, baba ghanoush, and fresh pita bread, all of which were excellent. For the main course, we had the sharing platter which included lamb kebabs, chicken wings, lamb chops and chicken shish, all cooked to perfection and seasoned beautifully. Overall, it was a great dining experience with good service and authentic flavors. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy Turkish cuisine!

Bagatti's Italian

56-58 S End, Croydon CR0 1DP, UK | Italian Restaurant
P: 020 8686 9649

Rating: 4.5 (1037) Price Level:

Overall a nice looking restaurant. A good menu option. I choose the lamb Raghu, and I thought it was too much sauce for the quantity of pasta, as well lacking a bit of pepper. My husband got the vongole spaghetti that was very good portion. We thought it was a bit pricey compared to other italian local restaurants that we go in Central London.

My dine out with friend’s at Bagatti’s last night was an amazing experience. The Prosecco went down one bottle after the other and so did the food. The Med prawns starter that I ordered was perfect to taste and I later ordered the grilled sea bass with veggies and the only thing left on the plate was the prawn shells as the dish was totally enjoyable. Couldn’t stop with just savoury, so next comes the Chocolate fondant with ice-cream dessert. Delectable and delicate wrapping of the meal. My first visit, but surely not my last. Busy with diners, but the staff lit the place with their friendly smile and served with efficiency. Well done and Thank you, Bagattis. See you soon.

I was at Bagatti’s for a business lunch for about 70 people so we pretty took over the place and had a special priced menu. The food was delicious and generous portions all round. We had a shared platters to start. For main I had the branzino (sea bass) which was very fresh (I’m very fussy). The staff did an amazing job in getting all the orders in and in front of each diner without error hot out of the kitchen. No delays in starting whilst others waiting for food. Extremely impressive performance from kitchen. I don’t live anywhere remotely near but if I did I would most definitely be back. Highly recommended. A local favourite for good reason. Long may it thrive.

Had been here twice before in 2022-23 and had been so impressed by the food!! SO happy to see it was open again yesterday and walked in with a friend. We were again totally impressed by... * Warm & professional service, knowledgeable and spot on recommendations. * Beautifully refurbed and improved ambience with perfect lighting. * Best of all, their food is among the highest quality of authentic Indian food in London, not just Croydon for sure. (I've lived in different parts India and cook Indian food so...) I think they are on par with the likes of Dishoom for example.

Exceptional Christmas meal! We went as a group of 13 and had preordered which we hoped would help, last year at a different restaurant the speed of service was awful and food all arrived separately. Little Bay was exceptional. Warm friendly service, starters arrived quickly and all 13 dishes brought within a minute of each other. Same for the mains and desserts. Food was tasty and everyone was very happy! For £26 you cannot go wrong with this gem! 🤩 I would advise to stick with their normal menu and avoid the Christmas turkey though, the normal offerings are just too good!! 👍 Thanks for a fantastic evening, attentive service and great atmosphere. A lovely evening had by all. ✅

Very tasty food, and big enough portions that we took half of each meal home for tea. The flavours were just a little bit 'polite' compared to dishes we've had in Sri Lankan cafes but this would be a good restaurant to introduce someone to Sri Lankan food.

Great food, especially if you'd like a kick of spice. The goat curry we had was lovely with string hoppers. I was disappointed though with the Kothu paratha. It had a bit too much vegetables, especially cabbage, felt like a slaw version of Kothu. The prawns in the shell weren't that great. It was difficult to peel and eat.

Delicious food and lovely staff. I really enjoyed the spinach and ricotta ravioli, which came in rich, flavourful tomato sauce. Also tried the norma pasta and was very happy with how much garlic was coming through, splendid! Merlot was excellent, and even simple things like the olives (big queen ones) were really great, in a chilli oil which the chef makes himself. Professional and friendly service was also much appreciated, and we're looking forward to visiting again!

A go to Italian in Croydon - Ponte Nuovo I've been to Ponte Nuovo in Croydon quite a few times now. My family and I were invited to a 100th and 90th birthday celebration this past year (2024). I've met my school friends there and had quite a few family lunches. I recommended the restaurant to my Mother's friend to celebrate her 90th Birthday after we had been to the 100th birthday luncheon at the start of the year. I was initially nervous recommending the restaurant, in case it did not meet her or her guests' expectations. My mother's friend was very worried about hosting a birthday luncheon for various reasons, but she now looks back with only fond and wonderful memories of the 90th birthday celebration she had there. The restaurant delivered in spades! She had a fantastic time and her guests LOVED the food. The decor is very modern and the food is fantastic. The portions are very generous and the food is cooked to perfection. We are always absolutely stuffed, when we leave the restaurant. The Manager recognises our family now and always greets us warmly. We were a little cheeky when we last visited the restaurant. We asked for a prawn starter which wasn't on the menu. We had it on another occasion and they kindly cooked it for again us. It was delicious. I'm not sure we needed it as we were so full after the main course, but we managed to fit in a dessert too. It is a really great place for celebrations, to spend quality time with friends or family over a wonderful meal. We love this restaurant! We would not hesitate to recommend it for that special occasion.
