Machan Kitchen, Sri Lankan Restaurant & Cocktail Bar, Croydon

Great food, especially if you'd like a kick of spice. The goat curry we had was lovely with string hoppers. I was disappointed though with the Kothu paratha. It had a bit too much vegetables, especially cabbage, felt like a slaw version of Kothu. The prawns in the shell weren't that great. It was difficult to peel and eat.

Service was great right from the start. Booking for a large group was easy and smooth sailing. We was a group of 11 for a birthday dinner. Ordering was done via the qr code which was great for a large group and avoided working bill at the end. The food was great portion sizes but some dishes could done with a bit more flavour. The young waiter was very attentive. Would definitely go back. Unfortunately didn't get loads pictures.

Very tasty food, and big enough portions that we took half of each meal home for tea. The flavours were just a little bit 'polite' compared to dishes we've had in Sri Lankan cafes but this would be a good restaurant to introduce someone to Sri Lankan food.

Nice Sri Lankan restaurant with nice vegetarian selection. We went for my brother's birthday during the week. There were a few options not available, which maybe offered on the weekend. The decor is authentic and seating basic (not fine dining). We enjoyed the taste of the dishes and service was fairly prompt.

Bagatti's Italian

56-58 S End, Croydon CR0 1DP, UK | Italian Restaurant
P: 020 8686 9649

Rating: 4.5 (1037) Price Level:

Overall a nice looking restaurant. A good menu option. I choose the lamb Raghu, and I thought it was too much sauce for the quantity of pasta, as well lacking a bit of pepper. My husband got the vongole spaghetti that was very good portion. We thought it was a bit pricey compared to other italian local restaurants that we go in Central London.

My dine out with friend’s at Bagatti’s last night was an amazing experience. The Prosecco went down one bottle after the other and so did the food. The Med prawns starter that I ordered was perfect to taste and I later ordered the grilled sea bass with veggies and the only thing left on the plate was the prawn shells as the dish was totally enjoyable. Couldn’t stop with just savoury, so next comes the Chocolate fondant with ice-cream dessert. Delectable and delicate wrapping of the meal. My first visit, but surely not my last. Busy with diners, but the staff lit the place with their friendly smile and served with efficiency. Well done and Thank you, Bagattis. See you soon.

I was at Bagatti’s for a business lunch for about 70 people so we pretty took over the place and had a special priced menu. The food was delicious and generous portions all round. We had a shared platters to start. For main I had the branzino (sea bass) which was very fresh (I’m very fussy). The staff did an amazing job in getting all the orders in and in front of each diner without error hot out of the kitchen. No delays in starting whilst others waiting for food. Extremely impressive performance from kitchen. I don’t live anywhere remotely near but if I did I would most definitely be back. Highly recommended. A local favourite for good reason. Long may it thrive.

Travelled for work, stayed for 2 nights, and I loved it here, the bed was very big and comfy and I was given the extra pillows that I asked for. Also, the food was amazing in the pub downstairs, the trout was top class, and the pecan pie was out of this world! And the full Duke's breakfast was spot on the following morning. Also, the staff are really friendly, super super friendly. Really recommended!

Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. My friends had the fish and chips which they confirmed tasted as good as it looked: I had the beef and Guinness pie in a really delicious short crust pastry . Often pies (in some places )are meat and gravy in a dish topped with flaky pastry ( not a proper pie in my view) this was a perfect pie . Which I would thoroughly recommend.,Monday was a perfect day to dine as it wasn’t heaving with people but several others dinning there too. I will go again

This is one of our favourite places to eat. It’s a pub/restaurant with both an Indian and Chinese menu, and the cooks do both cuisines perfectly. I ate until my stomach hurt. 2 for 1 deals on cocktails, really nice down to earth staff and loads of food. They have a lovely outdoor area (great shout for the summer) sports on the TV and karaoke (check when before going, if that's your thing). Limited vegan options but definitely enough for me to feel absolutely stuffed so ... Yeh defo worth a visit!

I recently dined at Crown & Pepper, and I must take a moment to highlight the exceptional service provided by one of the staff members. From the moment we were seated, Rohit went above and beyond to make our dining experience truly special. No matter how many questions we had about the menu, ingredients, or even recommendations, Rohit was always there with a friendly smile and a detailed answer. Their knowledge of the menu was impressive, and they patiently explained everything we needed to know, making sure we felt comfortable with our choices. Whether it was dietary restrictions, customization requests, or even just curious inquiries about the dishes, they were attentive and accommodating every step of the way. What really stood out was their genuine enthusiasm for making our experience enjoyable. They checked on us regularly, ensuring our needs were met without being overbearing. The level of care and attentiveness we received was truly above and beyond. It's rare to find someone so dedicated to customer satisfaction, and it made our meal all the more enjoyable. If you're looking for a dining experience where you feel truly taken care of, I highly recommend visiting crown & pepper and asking for Rohit. Their exceptional service made our visit memorable, and we will definitely be coming back thanks to their outstanding hospitality.

Atesh Turkish Restaurant (Croydon)

235-241 High St, Croydon CR0 1QR, UK | Turkish Restaurant
P: 020 8680 5500

Rating: 4.2 (1345) Price Level:

The food served at Atesh is not really great but consistently good. The prices look a bit high at first but the portions are quite big and we always leave with a takeaway box. It can get quite busy on weekends and sometimes too loud, but the service is still alright. The meat is well cooked and everything is well seasoned. I recommend the lamb chops, they're really tasty. Atesh also seems to be quite a good place to celebrate birthdays. As they seem to happen often, the staff members look like they're used to these celebrations and are well organised.

Had my fantastic birthday 🎂 🥳 party at The Tree House Croydon and it was AMAZING 👏. From the planning stage Aaron was so accommodating and helpful so I could execute my ideas. His recommendations were superb and was very thorough in planning to ensure I had a success. On the day, wow everything came into plan properly. Aiden was a real trooper; he assisted with my decor and made suggestions that were useful. He ensured the food was on time, the music was right and just helped to create a whole vibe. 👌 I would like to express my gratitude to these two and their team as the hostesses were friendly and even when an issue arose they were professional. Thank you again for making my birthday 🎂 🥳 epic!

Went here for a work Christmas do. Attentive staff and great quality food. Also a good variety of drinks available. The interior was 'decked-out' for the holidays, and there was plenty of room. The furniture is sturdy and I am guessing is pure oak. There is a rear garden attached and the facilities were clean and well maintained. Would recommend this place highly, and would definitely book again. I was not able to get pictures of the whole of the 3 course meal ordered as the food barely touched the table before wolfed down, it was so good. The dish pictured is Honey Roast Parsnip Soup, which was part of the festive set menu.

After having a pleasant Christmas meal with my colleagues at The Treehouse (which was well priced with good humoured staff!), I decided to host my work leaving do at The Treehouse. From the second I emailed the general manager Aaron, he was nothing but super helpful! From start to finish, the staff were incredibly kind and helpful making organising a leaving do for 30 people effortless! I was offered the party/buffet menu which went down an absolute delight priced at only £15pp. Aaron was superb and catered for a modified vegetarian, halal and standard menu! Drinks were flowing through the night and the staff were very attentive. The music playlist, atmosphere, decorations and vibes were spot-on! If you’re looking to host any birthday parties, celebrations, work-dos or events, look no further as I will be looking to book again :) P.S - the calamari and nachos went down a treat for many so would recommended these as starters :)

The Plough

P: 020 8647 1122

Rating: 4.4 (538) Price Level:

This is a lovely big pub that you just can't miss on the Croydon Rd. The ground floor is a large, very roomy (wheelchair friendly) place with rooms off either end. Lots of golf club boards and trophies to celebrate their club's many victories. The pub was spotless and we ended up having a long chat re the pub's history - especially when it was a Young's pub with the guvnor (lovely bloke). The Guinness was excellent as was the Young's ordinary..

I haven't been here in years, decades even! Good to see it's still running, post Youngs. Recently bought by a pubco, I forget the name, that also runs the Long Room at Tooting (formerly the Mitre). Doom Bar was in very good condition! If getting there by public transport, a tram to Beddington Lane makes sense, as the 463 bus will get you to the pub. But it could be a bit of a wait. A better option is to get off at Therapia Lane and there are 2 bus routes to choose from: the S4 and the 463. They're not from the same bus stop, so check your live bus arrivals app while on the tram to decide which one to go for.

We come here after always driving past the place, thought let's have a roast dinner the beef was lovely it had such a good taste and was thick cut. The wine was reasonable and tasted great, the show stopper was the Roast Spuds! Amazing! Ordered more and took some home in a takeaway box. Not much choices for the desert but the sticky toffee was good. Big old place staff amazing especially the old dear and Robyn. We got talking about Christmas times at the plough and the monthly quiz nights! I'd definitely come back, I wana try the fish and chips. Come down and give it a go. Rhino x

Great gastro-pub style Indian food. Judging by service/food to price, I’d very much recommend, especially for a big group gathering of friends or family. Controversially, I’d recommend ordering their chips as it’s very surprisingly nice, crunchy on the outside and very fluffy on the inside, much better than more premium restaurants we’ve been to. Chilli Mushrooms are also a must order. Great burst of flavour once you bite through its crispy exterior. Curries are flavours to be expected, but do not feel as oily or heavy as other places in the same price range. Overall a nice experience and would come again.

So we’re back from our wonderful 3 week Honeymoon and we just wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks to Leigh and her team at The Grange for making our wedding so very special. From the moment we met Leigh, it was clear that we were in the best hands. She took charge with such refinement and expertise, offering guidance and support every step of the way. Her patience was endless, and when we veered off track with an idea, she gently brought us back with sound advice and well-reasoned suggestions that always made sense. The day itself felt like a dream come true. From the moment the groom and best man arrived, they were instantly at ease thanks to Leigh and her incredible team. The room was laid out exactly as we had hoped, and even with our intimate gathering of 35 guests, the space felt warm, welcoming, and full of life. Our guests are still raving about the food! The three-course meal options were flawless, and everyone mentioned how perfectly cooked and piping hot everything was. Although the rain the day before left the pathways a little muddy and slippery, the team’s attentiveness shone through. While photos were being taken, drinks were constantly flowing, and our guests happily chatted away – not a moment felt out of place. We truly cannot thank Leigh enough for her hard work, care, and attention to detail. She made our day unforgettable, and we’ll always recommend The Grange as an excellent venue for weddings and celebrations.

The Grange restaurant offers a pleasant dining experience with a mix of traditional and modern dishes. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff are generally attentive, though service can be a bit slow during busy times. The menu features a variety of options, but the execution is sometimes inconsistent. While some dishes are well-prepared and flavorful, others might feel underwhelming or lack the expected finesse. Prices are reasonable for the quality offered, making it a decent choice for a casual meal out, but there are certainly better options for those seeking a more refined dining experience.

Such a wonderful place on single roof with more than 35 different cuisine and a bar.. Just behind the East Croydon station 2min walking distance. You can access entry/exit from both side, Front and Back. The place from outside doesn't found a bigger but from visiting inside it's a such a big and nice place to hangout. Delicious foods (asian, south east, Thai, Chinese, and other continents) just order it from your seat and collect it. And they do have there own web for ordering foods online. For Drinks just order it from your seat by scanning code and they will serve you on your table. You can also have music and disco/party nights as per their local events arrangements. Just go for it...happy foodies

It's certainly different! Food from around the world with tables set out down the centre of the place. A bar at the far end and a dj near the front with a big screen. I went on bank holiday Monday and there was a quiz night with lots of prizes including food from some of the places. I had mixed grill with fries from the Afghanistan bit and it came on a flat piece of wood and the steak was succulent and juicy. Would definitely go again.
