What’s a lovely traditional pub! We were greeted with a personalised welcoming chalk board on our table, we ate delicious home-made food. The ladies bathroom was stunning, with a thoughtfully placed baby changing mat in one of the stalls. Service was exemplary, atmosphere was warm, highly recommend.

We enjoyed a light lunch at the Royal Oak in the middle of our walk in the Surrey hills. The weather was cold and damp so it was a treat to be welcomed into a warm, cozy pub with a fire blazing in the corner. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was tasty and nicely prepared. We would be happy to return to this pub when planning another walk in the area.

Wonderful place to eat. Selection of food is amazing. Very friendly and very helpful. We went on Holmbury st Mary's bonfire night and the royal oak was very busy, but the service was still amazing. It's also set in a very beautiful village with two lovely gardens for the summer. Plus lovely places to walk after you've had your lunch. Highly recommend it to all ages.

The Royal Oak in Holmbury St. Mary’s is the perfect spot for an afternoon pint and a tasty snack. The cozy pub has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, ideal for relaxing with friends or unwinding after a walk in the countryside. The selection of ales is great, and the snacks, from classic crisps to more substantial bites, are delicious and satisfying. The friendly staff and charming setting make it a delightful place to spend a leisurely afternoon. Highly recommend!

My friend and I visited during a walk and enjoyed a fabulous chicken and mushroom pie and an aubergine Katsu curry. There was a good choice of real ales and the service was professional. We will return

Nice surprise. We weren’t planning on going there but arrived as a last resort through the rain. The ambience is great and cosy, the food was very good, particularly the baked Camembert and the tatin, and just being there with friends was a great experience

Traditional battered fish is decent. Not the best but honestly one of the top I’ve had. The batter is crispy and not too greasy, and the haddock is not dried out and seemed fresh. The fish is super big, although this also means at some point it eventually becomes soggy. Pork chop is surprisingly good. Tender and flavorful with rosemary. Also super grateful that I was able to have a beautiful salad instead of the chips in fish and chips. Service is efficient despite the full evening. And dog friendly!!

Very cute restaurant! Very cozy and homie. Very interesting setup. You walk in, tell the peson how many and you pick a seat. We had halloumi fries (yum!!!) And crusty sourdough roll w/ caramelized pecan (omgee.. so good!). Main course, I have the fish and chips. My hubby had the roast ham and eggs, and my daughter had the crispy chicken burger❤️

A very cozy pub with plenty of indoor/outdoor seating options that serves great bar food and friendly service. It's so cool to see they allowed dogs inside and they provides lots of dog beds as well for use while at the pub. Will try to come back here when it's not raining next time and enjoy the river view seating.

Ten Tables Restaurant

Asperion, Hillside Hotel, Perry Hill, Worplesdon, Guildford GU3 3RF, UK | Restaurant
P: 01483 232051

Rating: 4.6 (18) Price Level:

Driven past this hotel a few times and saw the sign outside for Ten Tables so decided to treat my husband. Great bar area with pretty array of filament bulbs and the restaurant is really lovely with just 10 tables as you would expect. Nice music playing and a lovely garden although it was dark and cold the evening that we went. We should have gone a few weeks ago but our booking was cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances" which it turns out was that the chef left (which is a real shame as his reviews were fabulous) but we were assured the new chef was just as good if not better. I had the beef short rib croquette to start (delicious ) and my husband had the scallops - well .... The plate came out with only 2 scallops (think they could have put 3 on for the price of £13 !). Nicely presented in their shells on a bed of greenery which we assumed to be a crispy curly kale or similar (the lighting is quite subdued in the restaurant). My husband tasted the greenery and declared it a little soggy so I tried it too. It had a very bitter, nasty taste and it made both of our tongues go numb. When the waitress came to clear the plates we asked her what it was to which she replied "You didn't eat it did you ? It's Fake Reindeer Moss". Apparently not poisonous thankfully and on checking with the chef it's also thankfully non toxic. 24 hours later and my tongue still feels peculiar. IF YOU CAN'T EAT IT DON'T PUT IT ON THE PLATE !! . The venison main course was delicious and we will go back on a summers evening so we can enjoy the outside.

Absolutely superb; head chef Charles introduced himself before dinner so you can ask any questions before you order. The food taste and quality was excellent with a very good wine menu. All the staff were welcoming and very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. An excellent intimate dinning experience and highly recommended.

Absolutely outstanding!!!! What a treat to have such a talented chef in Guildford (Worpleston). Food was incredible, favours seasoning, presentation. Service was great, albeit a little difficult for the waitress from the other diners. Something to consider when you eat at a small restaurant is that it’s a small team. Delays are okay- have a glass of wine, look at the koi in the pond. Relax! The quail blew me away, as did every other course but this was my favourite. I cannot wait to return- pricing is incredible reasonable to!

The restaurant is a gem. You wouldn’t expect from the outside a fantastic dinning area with a lovely koi pond and stunning well looked after garden. The food is perfect balancing both modern and classical styles. It is also the perfect meal with all of the courses being well balanced and unique which leave you wanting more. Very hospitable and kind service. Combined with a well put together menu and dishes well executed.

We’ve passed by this restaurant so many times and finally decided to try it. And we’re so glad we did! The food was outstanding. All the favourites were in the menu, plus great modern takes on the traditional dips. Especially loved the butterflied sea bream, the crispy Hake fillet, and the moussaka. And the freshest calamari! The great food was completed by the light and welcoming decor, staff and ambience. Not to be missed if you love Greek food. We’ll definitely be going back for more!

I like to give positive reviews, but Theion is exceptional! Wonderful food - traditional Greek dishes, but made very special with a level of taste, ingredients and presentation that delivers a whole extra level of enjoyment. Beautiful former hall well modified into an interesting venue, and excellent staff who undersrand the food and enjoy delivering great service. Ideal venue to treat someone - from the family to yourself!

We had an incredible dining experience at *Theion*! The food was absolutely amazing, with each dish crafted to perfection. The starters were a highlight, spoiling us with fabulous flavors and presentation that set the tone for the rest of the meal. To make the evening even more special, they surprised us with a thoughtful touch by writing "Happy Anniversary" on our dessert. It was such a lovely gesture that truly made our night. Exceptional service and a beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommended for a memorable meal! --- Feel free to modify it as you see fit!

What a find! This place has very charming interior with very high ceilings and stylish tableware The food was a 10/10, with presentation being very aesthetic, and every dish being extremely tasty and full of flavour. We loved the dips with pita bread, fried feta in honey, and beef croquettes For the main we shared lamb and sea bream. Will absolutely come back again

Stretched & Fired Guildford

Updating my original review and adding a star! We visited again & this time the pizzas where fantastic, both a meat feast and a nduja pizza. Great flavours, ingredients and the pizza base was crisp and light but with enough weight to hold the toppings just right. Made freshly and quickly too so great for a quick lunch. We also ordered a café latte and chai latte both really nice too ! Sorry no new pictures of the pizzas but adding the chai latte 😄 100% recommended. This is my original review below: Good pizza at affordable prices, it did miss a little magic to make them excellent pizzas though. We ordered a meat feast pizza with 3 types of meat + the traditional mozzarella and tomato toppings. Definitely a healthier choice then a papa johns, or other chain based pizza places. They also serve coffee and pastries too.

Stumbled upon this gem by accident using the trusty “Food Near Me” search on Google. It’s a cozy spot with great value—two meals with drinks came to just £20-25. The pizza is perfectly sized for one and delicious, and the coffee hits the spot. Would definitely recommend!

Kinghams Restaurant

Oak Cottage, Gomshall Ln, Shere, Guildford GU5 9HE, UK | Restaurant
P: 01483 202168

Rating: 4.7 (392) Price Level:

Came during a torrential downpour that flooded part of the premises. The evening was thus slightly slower on the kitchen side of things which was understandable. Heck, if a Masterchef challenge was "Can you still cook to the required standard after you deal with a flood," at least we know it's doable! There are certainly aspects that hold this establishment back from michelin-star territory, but the friendly service isn't one of them. Even after having to muck in and deal with the flooding, it was still warm, friendly and helpful. The mark deducted for atmosphere was just that- it is a tad stuffy/warm in the main dining area that made it uncomfortable to the point we asked to move to the converted area just outside (which wasn't an issue at all) Judged against the midweek treat prices, it's pretty good value for this type of dining. That said, I'm not sure I would come back for the full price menu- reference made to the lamb which, although delicious and faultless, as nevertheless just a single sausages worth of meat. We will be back - hopefully with better weather!

Wonderful experience. Found the venue on a review site. Booked a table, must admit it was 75 minutes drive away, but oh so worth it! Small bread "loaf" cut into four for us. Crumbly and delicious. We deliberately chose different dishes for each of the four courses to try as many dishes as possible. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious. Highlights are hard to identify, though I never thought I would have a liver parfait as good as Hestons, I was wrong. Special mention for the mock cocktails but my goodness the roast potatoes were quite exceptional too. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Very clean toilet. Met chef at the end of the meal, what a delightful passionate chef. Well worth the trip for some frankly quite exceptional food.

Amazing food in a beautiful setting. The restaurant main building was built in the 17th century, and you can admire its original beauty. The food is delicious! We had the 4 courses menu, and we were both extremely happy with our choices. The service was excellent, fast and professional. All the above for a very reasonable price, £130 without service.

What a lovely restaurant, The team were excellent, efficient, friendly and so polite. The gentleman who welcomed us on arrival was so welcoming and friendly. We booked for vegan food, four tasty course and weren't disappointed. Tasty freshly cooked vegan food and no fake produced products. The main course and rice pudding were exceptional. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. We particularly liked the umbrella fountain at the front of the premises. Unfortunately we forgot to take photos.

If you can sit in the garden area it's beautiful. The service was spot on, really quick to take your drink order and bring it out. I had the roast, probably the nicest gravy I've had, you can get extra Yorkshires for free but the meal was huge. Friend had fish and chips, massive fish and loads of chips. It's about £17-£18 for a main and £10 a starter. Definitely need to book if you're going before 3pm at weekends.

Had a lovely breakfast at the dabbling duck. The staff were all very friendly and service and food could not be faulted. There was only one fly in the ointment. We sat inside the cafe as did a lot of dog owners. My friend has allergies and is a bit wary of dogs so it was a bit off putting to her. They were also all a bit over excited and ‘talking’ to each other which made it hard for us to converse. I’ve no objection to well behaved dogs but not everyone feels the same for various reasons and they are not necessarily just being intolerant. The Dabbling Duck has a large heated marquee outside as well as covered heated outdoor seating. Would it not be a good compromise to welcome dogs only to these areas and keep the small inside seating area pet free. Other than that small niggle it was a lovely brunch before a bracing walk in beautiful countryside surrounding Shere.
