“Amazing cafe with great pies and mash and co.puter games so much to look up as a sci fi gaming family it was right up our ally and we appreciated all the little touches... so impressed. Especially the posters and hand dryer.”

Visited today with with my husband and 4yr old for lunch. Had a warm welcome when we arrived and was explained how the menu worked. The restaurant was small but wasn't busy when we arrived shortly after they opened at around 12.15pm Monday. The waiter explained my son could play with all the toys in the window and action figures. He didn't peep over lunch and was very busy playing! We had a couple of games of Mario Kart which was fab too. Food arrived quickly and hot, nice pies, mash and gravy. All in all a great lunch. ÂŁ12 for a meal which was prices right. Make sure you use the toilet as its an experience!

Such a cool place, took lots of pics of the decor! Very reasonably priced. My chicken pie was great, but my mash was cold, the meat in my friend's beef pie wasn't very tender and his mash was cold too...however, the gravy and the liquor were top notch and, the pastry was fantastic and the flavours were great! We'd definitely go back ***update*** We went back! Friend made a better pie choice (BBQ chicken), mash was hot, pies were crisp and delicious, only thing that wasn't as good was the liquor this time. But I'd now give 4.5 stars. Staff also lovely

Food is DELICIOUS - we went on a Saturday for lunch, and the vegan options did not disappoint. Generous portions and original ingredients. Loved by Don Bourguignon pie. The Not Dog pie is also great. Amazing decor for fans of video games / movies / series. Toilets are Star Wars themed. They have old video games available to play too! Couple of suggestions: Cleanliness - high chair for our child was really dirty, we had to use several baby wipes before we could sit him down in it. Waiters completely ignored him too (which seems to be very common in the UK... but children are people too!) Lots of great paraphernalia but a lot of it looks pretty dusty/dirty! Otherwise, we will be back to try the rest of the menu, thank you 😊

“Absolutely delicious. We popped in without booking on a Saturday lunchtime and they squeezed us in. Ordered a mixed platter (meat) for 2 and we weren't disappointed. Generous portions and variety, service was very good, also had baklawa which was incredible! Would highly recommend, and we want to try the mains next time, because other peoples dishes on their tables looked and smelled amazing.”

“Rather noisy, but that's the way of most restaurants these days. Service excellent. Food very good, although carrot đŸ„• too soft. Dessert was slightly disappointing as the description said, "Autumn Still Life", and was just like a painting on the plate with not much to eat.”

“Really fabulous lunch. Glad I booked because even on a Tuesday it was full. Our waitress was amazing despite how busy the pub was. It is a wonderful eclectic mix and a step back in time with roaring fires, good beer and great food.”

“The food is incredible. Their burgers are unrivalled! They could really do some work on their interior though.. completely uninspired and outside it often looks closed. Can’t reiterate enough though, food is brilliant. Cocktails are also great.”

“A Taste of Japan in Winchester – Kyoto Kitchen I had heard about Kyoto Kitchen, and while I was in the area, I thought it would be a great opportunity to check it out! My daughter and I managed to book a table on the same day, which was relatively easy despite not being locals. Entering through the hotel, we passed by the bar area before stepping into the main dining space. The atmosphere was both summery and refined, with a unique layout. There was only one central pathway, giving the impression of entering a grand hall, almost like a castle. The tables were arranged on either side, and at the heart of the room stood a striking center piece—a large kimono - its presence commanding attention like a king in a courtroom. To my surprise, there was another dining area designed in the style of a traditional Japanese sushi bar, where guests could watch the chefs prepare fresh sushi. The delicate fabric dividers between the rooms reminded me of Japan, adding to the authenticity of the experience. I was seated in the banquet area, opposite a stunning vegetable art display spanning the entire wall. It created an incredible blend of indoor and outdoor elements, stimulating the senses in an unexpected way. For my meal, I ordered the Winchester Sushi Rolls, as recommended by the waiter. This dish featured fresh salmon, mango, cucumber, and seaweed, topped with goji berries and a horseradish sauce. The combination was delicate yet flavorful—refreshing with a perfect balance of sweetness and spice. I also had Wagyu Gyoza, garnished with edible flowers, which was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. The service was excellent, and the entire experience truly transported me to Japan. Winchester is fortunate to have such a gem of a restaurant, and I hope they continue to support their talented chefs. This is a must-visit for sushi lovers and anyone looking for an authentic Japanese dining experience.”

“The Ivy is a great place to eat with unusual food on offer. I had whisky barrel smoked venison tartare to start and goose, turkey, and duck shepherd's pie for my main. The staff were very attentive. My only complaint is the acoustics are very poor and we had to shout across the table in order to have a conversation. It is a popular place as it was packed on a Monday evening a week before Christmas.”

“We were passing through and stopped for lunch here. Wasn't expecting such an amazing burger! It was very thick, juicy and full of flavour. The fries were nice and crunchy and well seasoned. Daughters sausages were delicious too. Cost around 30 quid to feed the both of us including a beer so not bad value for money. Staff were fantastic, very friendly. Definitely recommend”

“Great steak, fairly good service and atmosphere. I had an excellent steak, with good quality sides. It was well prepared, with great flavour and is generally much better than you get in an average steak restaurant. The location is central to the city, so parking is a challenge, but I would say it's worth the trip, finding a space and walking to the restaurant. I had and would certainly recommend the T-Bone, it really was very good.”
