We had afternoon tea which was freshly made to order. The menu is very reasonably priced and looks appetising. The bistro is decorated in a lovely country style and sometimes you can watch the horses in the arena. I will just mention because of the close proximity of the horses there is a country aroma. The staff are friendly but there is a wait for the food as it is freshly made to order.

I had a wonderful experience at your restaurant in Botley Village “The Old Mill” restaurant. Free 1 hour parking. The staff were incredibly pleasant and welcoming, and the food was delicious. One small suggestion: consider adding a kid’s menu. Overall, a delightful visit, and I look forward to returning. Thank you!

If you are thinking of dining out for a special occasion, then this is definitely the place. Everything is top notch the minute you enter the restaurant. The service, atmosphere and food is fantastic. We had a party of 11 and was a celebration of life. The care , consideration and attention of the staff was unbelievable. I wouldn't think twice about going back and have since recommended the mill to friends.

Celebrated my 60th birthday there. A meal for 32 of my close friends. The food and service was exceptional! Worthy of a Michelin star! Chris the manager offers a smooth seamless service in a calm manner. I would say it probably is my most favourite place to be. The beautiful Mill itself is worthy of a visit let alone all that it offers.

Nice little bar/ restaurant in the village, booked a table for the family to eat the Thai food which was all lovely they were placed in takeaway boxes and we had to eat with wooden cutlery which was new and different. It's bar service only. However the day after we came here we all had very bad stomachs after eating here don't know what it was from maybe the oils in the food but it was a shame. Definitely will be back but probably won't have the Thai food again.

So after a disaster of a hotell stay we popped in last night whilst getting a teakaway. The guy behind the bar went above and beyond with helping us find a drink that we liked and was talking to him about our hotel stay. It's amazing how much a friendly face can make you feel so welcome and would love to give him a shout out. Unfortunately I didn't get his name and the drink recommended was amazing. This place gives you a warm welcome with a good atmosphere and would highly recommend a visit to anyone in the area . Unfortunately I was driving so only stayed for the 1 .

My daughter, small pup and I were warmly welcomed and had a lovely mid week meal by the fire. We shared the rack of lamb with dauphinois potatoes l, greens and a rich, sticky gravy. Sublime. We were both beaten by the hazelnut, chocolate mousse which was lovely and rich. Highly recommend and book at weekends or you will never get in.

Really lovely roast to end a lovely Sunday hike. Such a nice atmosphere and the service was great. We sat in the dog friendly area and really enjoyed our visit. The beef roast was delicious. My one disappointment was the amount of meat, there definitely could’ve been more!

This is a Great Pub. Great Food not too heavy. Staff was Very nice and Welcoming. Really nice to See Dogs as well. Chicken wings was nice with full of flavours. Loved the Slaw with kick to it. Pie of the day was really nice Steak and Stilton think it was. Happy to go back especially when it's the summer time.

We hired the pavilion for an engagement party yesterday and we had the most amazing day. The pub was accommodating and went above and beyond to make our day special! The staff were all super friendly and helpful. They stayed on top of glass collecting and keeping the party running smoothly. We ordered lots of pizza and it was truly incredible. The chef was super friendly and did an amazing job everyone said the pizza was some of the best they’d had. Couldn’t recommend this place any more, if you are looking for a party then look no further. Thanks to everyone!!!

Me and my partner went for Valentine’s Day and had the most amazing time. The service was quick and everything came out quickly. Karen and sue was excellent with making sure everything was okay and checking up on us, just absolutely lovely people. Food was amazing and everything was in order.

Nothing but good things. As soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted with a smile. We took our seats and were served by the lovely Lauren, who was very helpful. Drinks arrived quickly, and the food arrived at the table in a timely manner, looking delicious. The starters were flavourful while the mains were looking great and tasted amazing. Dessert was held back long enough for the previous courses to settle so we could enjoy the amazing tastes for what was to come. Definitely will be going back in the future 5⭐️

Just had some superb fish and chips! Lovely light and crispy batter on my haddock, lovey crunchy chips that were soft in the middle! Quick service with a smile! Highly recommended!

Just tucking into the cod and chips now, fish is perfectly portioned, flaky and tastes of the sea, lovely and fresh. Batter is really crisp even after driving 10 minutes to get home, everything was cooked to order. Temperature is good and the chips are tasty. Lovely fish and chips dinner Update June 2022, after a fun family day out to the unwrapped event, treated with a fish and chips with a bit of of a Saveloy sausage and curry sauce. Really fresh fish can definitely taste this, lovely batter crisp, not oily at all and flavour is outstanding. Chips were good, Saveloy toasty and lovely curry sauce. Keep up the good work. Update March 2024, came into hedge end village today and decided to go grab lunch at J Henry's fish and chips, they have a lunch time special for £6.50 either a cod or haddock with chips, a decent price and a very decent portion, all cooked fresh to order, chips have a good crunch and fluffy interior, the haddock was perfect, crisp batter, flaky fish and tasted so fresh, best of all it was not greasy at all, got to the bottom of the take away box and no puddles of oil, perfect and consistent quality

I was so happy when meeting staffs in this shop, as they were so friendly and nice. The shop is bright and clean. Foods are fresh and yummy, my favorite is the mushy peas. Recommended : )

The food is consistent and tasty. I believe that the owners work hard to provide good food and value for money which must be challenging whilst running a business like this with all the associated costs (supplies, staff, rates etc). The southern fried chicken is delicious and great if you fancy something different. The only suggestion we have for improvement is ensuring that the orders are correct. For example no salt and vinegar if that's what is asked for and also ensuring orders are packed correctly. We have often found items missing when we get home. The best thing to do if you can is try and watch as your order is packed and just query anything that may be missing to avoid disappointment when you get home.

Just had a birthday meal for 10 people here and can honestly say we had a great time. A warm welcome (with lovely log fire) and drinks delivered. The food was superb and good value. The staff were lovely and gave us great service. Would definitely recommend 👌

A lovely cosy atmosphere and the service was great! Very friendly 😊 I ordered the Bugle burger and it was delicious!! In fact everything we ate was super tasty and we had a lovely time. I'm still thinking about that homemade burger now as it was honestly one of the best burgers I've had. Would recommend to those living in Southampton looking for a nice day out to pop in as it's so easy to find on the high street and well worth the travel!

A real find. Went for Sunday Carvery without booking. We were lucky to be found a table. The place was full, no wonder why. Perfect service from all the staff, food was generous and as good as you can expect from a carvery. Good beef and pork, roast spuds and caulflower cheese were highlights for us. And remarkable value. 20% off for over 65s. Fabulous.

Great meal with great service from Tom. We started with the oysters and then proceeded to try everything we could. The souffle are phenomenal, the catch of the day, a sea bass, was delicious. The chateaubriand cooked perfectly, but in the UK they don't season it, so if your from the states before to ask for extra extra season or some sea salt from kitchen. One of best restaurants in a hotel we had during our travels and a big thank you to Tom who really took care of us, Would visit again!

Really wonderful food, a treat, a destination with comfort, class, lounge, huge selection of drinks with a lovely long bar. All tastefully decorated for Xmas. Was so busy having fun that didn’t take too many pictures of the food. Thoroughly recommend oysters, Lobster Thermidor & Hake. Service spot on.

The staff appeared understandably under pressure due to the busy evening, yet they maintained a high level of professionalism throughout. A particular mention goes to the young, dark haired lady who assisted us was exceptionally knowledgeable and patient as my wife and I inquired about various dishes. Her attentiveness made a great impression. The view of the marina is absolutely stunning, adding to the overall charm of the experience. The dishes we ordered were hot, fresh, and delicious, although they took some time to arrive. However, given the bustling atmosphere, we found this understandable. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the food and service made it well worth it.

Fabulous place to go to eat. Had a 30th birthday function here with a buffet for over 30 people, one of the best buffets i have ever had at an event. The food was all homemade from scratch and the menu creativity was excellent. My friends and family had such a lovely day, would highly recommend.

Love the pub, nice and quaint, good atmosphere, nice on the summer with the garden, snug and comfy in the winter inside. Got a good feel to it.

If you’re staying at the Hilton Utilita/Ageas Bowl, look north further for an authentic British pub experience nearby. Set in a former house, inside and out provided an idyllic atmosphere. Food was extraordinarily delicious, with many options for both adults and children. Huge portions did not disappoint. Helpful and friendly staff, with food and beverage suggestions were very accommodating of our tired (we just arrived after a red eye crossing the pond) family. The beef pie was filled with succulent and hearty chunks of meat, the omelet fluffy and filling, and the fish cake to start - you could tell it and everything else was freshly made by a genius in the kitchen. What better way to end our meal than toffee pudding with custard, warm and steaming it was a great finish. Best way to start your pre-cruise vacation out of Southampton.
