“Josie's lived up to the hype. Went for Sunday morning breakfast and we weren't disappointed. The menu variety is vast and varied. The food is delicious and freshly cooked. The portion sizes are good and you won't leave hungry. The venue is a good size with around 14-15 tables inside. The service delivered by the staff was excellent. Staff were very friendly and made us and our family feel very welcome. We were seated quickly but it could be a little bit of a wait at busy periods. There is also plenty of outside seating as well. The experience was really good and we will be back again.”

“I have only given them a 5 star review simply because there wasn't any more stars available. We enjoyed everything from the moment we walked in. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the chefs coming round to serve was a nice touch. The food was exceptional. We went for the 6 course lunch. Though busy, we didn't feel rushed, and each table got the same level of high service. It's quite telling when all the overhead conversations are about the food. This is definitely a must visit/experience.”

“We celebrated my father's 80th birthday here, 14 of us on a Sunday lunchtime. We were in a space all by ourselves. We all had roast dinners. They were delicious, plenty of food and the tastiest roast I have had in a long time. The staff were great. The pub was very busy as it was a beautiful day, but that did not affect the service. We will be returning. Thank you Flower pots ,👍🏻.”

“A charming Country Pub with framed photos of horses and horse riders, etc. There is a huge garden, easily seating 100 people, plus a large car park around the back. There is also a children's outdoor play area with swings and a climbing frame. The pub feels cosy and authentic inside, but the best part is the food! Most of the ingredients and produce are locally sourced, and the portion sizes are very generous. The sausages are from a farm in Alresford, and there was homemade locally sourced venison burger on the menu, too. Also a good selection of local ales, including a golden Hinton ale, which is one of their own beers, and very nice it was too! Excellent.”

The Bucks Head
Bucks Head Hill, Meonstoke, Southampton SO32 3NA, UK

“The Bucks Head appeared as a little slice of Heaven to my friend and I after a very wet, cold walk across the South Downs. They welcomed us in, showed us to our lovely rooms (me downstairs, her upstairs) and were at pains to ensure we had all we needed before leaving us to the joy and luxury of the wonderful power showers and baths with endless hot water. Each room had its own en-suite. Each one beautifully decorated and appointed with lots of helpful extras. The bedrooms were similarly stocked with tea & coffee etc etc (though it was also easily obtained in the bar. The rooms were far enough from the bar that we weren’t disturbed, but still part of the main pub so I felt comfortable goin in in stockinged feet! After our ablutions the manager Luke had reserved us a cosy corner table in the pub, near to one the two open fires. All the tables were candle-lit, and a large glass of wine and one of the magnificent house specialty pizzas each helped dissolve away any remaining stresses from our cold, wet walk. We went to bed and slept soundly all night on the very comfortable mattresses. In the morning our respective choices of cooked breakfast were waiting for us at the pre-arranged time, and this, plus another incredibly helpful bar manager -Liam- meant that we set off on the next stretch of our walk two very different women from the shivering drowned rats who had arrived the previous day. I know it sounds like I work for them, but I assure you I don’t! I just don’t have enough words to express how special this place and its two managers were. I haven’t even mentioned the special boot drier, the helpful tumble drying, the local taxi advice and how the whole place is designed with walkers in mind - right down to the flooring! Seriously, don’t even think about staying anywhere else. To miss out on this little gem would be madness. We will be back for sure.”

Lime Wood Hotel

“We had an absolutely fabulous stay at Lime Wood enjoying a dinner, bed and breakfast and additionally a mud bath treatment. Whilst the mud bath experience was mildly disappointing the rest of our time at the hotel was utterly sublime. Warm, friendly, slick service, gorgeous rooms, excellent facilities, and probably the nicest meal my wife and I have ever had. We hated to leave and would highly recommend a visit to this gem of a place in the majestic new forest.”

“It's a proper bikers cafe Friendly staff, good food, and well worth the trip. Be mindful of the average speed cameras on the A272. This place gets really busy at weekends when the weather is brilliant. So it could be difficult to find a parking spot. Food is delicious and was definitely worth the trip.”
