The Best Cafes in Brockwood, Hampshire, United Kingdom (2025)

After years of not quite getting in the door to try Projects, it was recommended to me by a friend so I made a visit for lunch. Turns out it opens up inside to a large, comfortable space with fabulous staff who are always welcoming and kind, fantastic coffee and food, and the Project Zero sustainable refill space and other cool shopping options. It’s now my favourite place in Winchester!

Still love this place...went for my trusted favourite French toast with berry compote and creme freche - delicious. Service was friendly and my dog was well catered for with treats and water brought for her. Cappuccino was great too. Highly recommend.

It’s located just in the precinct, plenty of pay parking nearby. During the daytime it’s a. eatery & there are little shops within a shop, plenty of the usual but a lot of quirky things on sale too. We visited on a Friday evening, it was an ‘Open Mike’ night. Plenty of brave souls getting up & playing and singing, all very good & entertaining. The audience are very appreciative & show it with a good support. Get along, the first Friday of the month I believe.

This is a lovely breakfast place. The food & drinks were delicious, the service very friendly and also I was super happy about the gluten-free options for breakfast. Would always go there again and do strongly recommend.

A tastefully converted historic booking hall, repurposing much of the original features, Platform One is a popular coffee shop/cafe with freshly prepared, delicious food, coffees, and, of course, a good range of high quality ice creams. Sophia Lauren features in the history of the building too. Honest!

This café is absolutely amazing! They serve authentic Italian gelato and excellent coffee. Their food is delicious, and the brownies and cakes are simply outstanding. Free 🅿️ parking. I highly recommend visiting Platform 1!

We stopped by Platform One Coffeehouse and Gelato on a walk from Winchester. It was a very warm and welcoming little cafe, which has breathed new life into Shawford station. The welcome and service was very friendly and efficient, and the team genuinely seemed pleased to be there. It was all very reasonably priced too, which was a nice surprise considering the quality. We sampled a Chocolate Truffle and a Salted Caramel Brownie, both off which were mouth-wateringly good! There was a small inside area with some comfy tables and chairs, as well as a nice terrace too. It’s lovely to have somewhere to go in Shawford that is independent and not a big chain. I’ll certainly be back again to try their amazing looking Gelato.

Exceptional! The atmosphere is perfect .. far from the maddening crowd, but snuggled in a bustling village. Best refreshments, for humans who like to relax with their furbabies after a stroll, or just a perfect excuse to enjoy fine fayre with friends & family.You are the best! Thankyou , Lynne x

Amazing place , amazing staff and I love coming here. Have been there before as well. This time reached after 3 pm so food options were limited . So we tried hot chocolate and scones and loved both. Fruit Scone was really really nice. Next time I will try the cheese scone :)

Super friendly staff with a lovely smile. She made an amazing chocolate for me. The afternoon tea set is absolutely worth to try. The chicken sandwiches are delicious and the cheese scone is tasty. Cozy and clean environment.

Visited after a lovely walk along the river. The local watercress pesto panini and the watercress and cheese scones were lovely. The service was friendly and the outside seating area was a lovely bonus. We will definitely be back to sample the Dorset ice cream, extensive tea menu and cakes!

Always seems to be busy whenever I come here which tells you a lot. I’m very particular about how I have my tea and as such, I rarely opt for tea when I’m out and about but the tea here is fantastic. The food is great too, the cakes and pastries especially, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Stopped here by chance and it was our lucky day. A large choice of speciality teas, cakes and scones were on offer. I had Bread Pudding which was moist, beautifully spiced and full of fruit. The Japanese wild cherry tea was so nice and I could get more than 4 cups from the pot and extra hot water provided. Hope to go back when next in this part of the country. Went back and it was just as good. Really friendly staff and great food and drink.

Our first visit (won't be our last) to have a look around the nursery and have lunch. They were busy but were seated quickly. Service was very quick and efficient even though they were having WiFi problems. I ordered a tuna and cheddar cheese sandwich and was so surprised when it arrived. Good thick slices of bread and a massive amount of lovely filling served with a little pot of crisps. Excellent value for money and lovely, friendly staff

Absolutely wonderful. Great food and lovely service. It was a busy half term day but the food was absolutely top notch and the staff all kept things flowing beautifully. Particular note on the Coronation chicken sandwich that is the best I've ever eaten.

*My personal view of the full English breakfast was a 2/5 but as that's my preference I'm leaving a 4/5 for the place overall* The staff were so so friendly and warm when we arrived at the little garden centre cafe opened. The interior is prettily decorated with care and style - there's even a little alcove with a few tables and library wall paper which is fun My husband had a chocolate shake which he said was very good and we didn't wait long for breakfast to arrive with hot toast and cute little piped butters. It went downhill from here for me as the beans were EVERYWHERE on the plate covering all the other items in bean juice. Now, if you're a bean fan, I'm sure this isn't a problem but I am not keen on mushrooms, sausage, tomato etc etc being slimy. The egg was cooked well but it was one top of everything so it had a beany underside and made the other items taste of eggy oil. Nearly everywhere I've been in recent years serves the beans in a separate ramekin which also makes the plate look nicer. However, as I said above, this is totally my preference so it wouldn't be fair to mark them down. The loss of one star is because 1. the sausage didn't taste great quality and 2. the mushrooms were too watery. 3. At £13.75 a full English, I think that's quite pricey for the quality. The garden centre has some excellent edibles, gifts and cute cards, so well worth a visit.

Buzzing, busy, family-run cafe which we visited entirely by chance, following the brown signs from the A31. A haven of happiness! Fantastic gf chocolate brownie. Equally amazing Biscoff slice, according to my husband. Thank you to the lovely staff, and to Duster the cat, who knew I speak Cat, and gave me a lovely, purring cuddle! I wish we were local..

Such a lovely place to come and eat good, clean and honest food. Had a really lovely Breakfast here, Avocado Smash with Sweet Tomatoes and a side of Bacon. The Service has been wonderful and they managed to cater for a tricky intolerance - Rapeseed Oil. Thank you for such a lovely start to the day and for being so friendly.

Lovely little cafe. We sought refuge from the rain here and got a hot drink. The hot chocolates we ordered were lovely, and the service was also great. Very friendly bunch working here. Didn’t get a chance to try food here as we had already had lunch but the food menu looked good and the cakes also looked very appealing. Also bought some jars of locally made jams here as gifts.

Very nice cafe in Brockenhurst. We went for a breakfast and they had a wide range of breakfast options available. I had the full English and my wife had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Both were very good quality and good portions too. Looks like they have some good lunch options too, so next time I'll try that. The homemade cakes and sweet treats look very good too, so definitely one to try in the future. Lovely service here and good baby changing facilities too. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

What a delicious experience! The lady from the Airbnb has recommended us this place for breakfast and obviously we had our doubts. I'm glad we believed her! It's a tiny place but its flavour is great. I didn't have enough stomach for eating the full menu, or the pastries bar. The people were so helpful and kind. Totally recommend by the lady and from now on by me as well.

Easy place, perfect for families. Super fast and friendly service. Nothing to wrong about their food other they it needed more salt for us, but I suppose that s the healthy way forward. Clean spacious and close to the main car park.

We’ve visited The Forage twice in our week stay in the new forest — once on a quiet day and again on a busy Saturday — and both experiences were excellent. We were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in and served quickly both times, regardless of how busy it was. The food was spot on — fresh, delicious, and arrived fast. It’s clear they maintain great service no matter the crowd. We’ll definitely be returning in the future! 5*

We came to Lyndhurst for the weekend and found the forage on our first morning. It is very welcoming with lovely decor. The atmosphere is excellent The service is superb The food is amazing, I had an English breakfast the first morning and eggs blackstone the second. The eggs blackstone was the best breakfast I’ve ever had and will be trying this at home. There is plenty of choice and will struggle tomorrow to make a decision that will equal today’s.. All in all a great venue for breakfast.

Super lovely restaurant, good value especially as it tasted high quality. Lovely staff, my son 'William' loved the Italian waiter and made the difference to our brunch out! 5 Stars - Fantastic! We will be back!

Food at the restaurant was amazing! Service was great, nice and friendly. The food in the shop is overpriced for what it is. Considering it's high-end, you'd expect the products to reflect that. Lots of their products are "ultra processed" - read the labels and you'll see. Shame to see high end products with chemicals in them.

Excellent breakfast. All top quality ingredients, as expected. Cost of drinks were a bit high, we thought. £4.50 for a glass of orange juice. Freshly squeezed and very nice but quickly adds up on the bill. Would highly recommend, though. Would love to visit again and browse the shop, butchers, fish mongers. Shame we are not local

We did the wonderfully Knife skills course. Sarah was a great teacher supported by the brilliant team of Sergio and Katie. We got the chance to practise knife skills on lots of different vegetables and fruits as well as some meat as well as getting lots of really helpful shortcuts and tips . As you prepare 4 dishes ( including a desert ) for 2 people and only eat one of them for lunch you are guaranteed to leave with lots of delicious meals. The knowledge I gained is kitchen life changing. Well worth the money.

Saturday I had Chicken snitzel and my wife had the Haddock we both enjoyed the food. We returned on Sunday I had the Bacon belly and my wife had the scallops we both enjoyed so much so that I said complements to the Chef. Wonderful food. Good atmosphere and a craft shop too.

Found this place by chance after camping in the New Forest for the weekend. 100% recommend, a great menu and yummy food. I had the chicken and waffles and it came with a generous helping of maple syrup. The only thing I would change is serving the syrup on the side. I also had one of the best chai lattes I’ve ever had. Our dogs were made to feel welcome and were given treats by the staff. Thank you so much for a lovely breakfast!

I was treated to an afternoon tea at Kimbridge Barn by a wonderful friend in March 2024. What an experience. We were seated in the window in the sunshine. Staff could not be more attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. The scones were huge - the size of a large mango - but beautifully soft & delicious and served warm. The sandwiches were scrummy, the ham hock mayo my favourite. The sunshine melted the sour cherry chocolate bar as we weren’t paying attention! It too tasted wonderful. Will definitely come back when the weather warms up. The package included unlimited teas and americano coffee. Would have been nice to include one special coffee like a latte for the price, but small niggle.

Great brunch place, excellent coffee and all the food is sourced locally which I love! The boot room is especially cosy for coffee and cake on a cold miserable day with its nice fireplace. Only downside (which isn't their fault) is it gets very busy at weekends so do book on advance to avoid disappointment as this has happened a couple times to us.

Many people who visited this place commented upon a stuffed owl which is placed near to the entrance. We asked a member of staff at the till a question and she was very helpful about it. The rose display was lovely and colourful.

Always a nice trip to Garthowen. Good variety of plants which are of good quality. The cafe serves good food and coffee. The store staff are very helpful and the gorgeous cat who sleeps on the displays just makes my day 🐈

Love it here breakfast and plants under one roof! Perfect. Lovely food and menu options. Gluten-free and great milkshakes!!!
