Had a lovely lunch at The Yew Tree on Saturday, the pub was nestled in a fold of the Hampshire Countryside. The ambience was relaxed, attentive service and great food. The prawns had a lovely garlic butter sauce, I had the flaked shepards pie and my wife had the Fig and Goats cheese salad. All three courses were great and I had a pint of Hawkstone. We will be back! Best roast! I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Yew Tree in Aylesford, near Hampshire, and I must say, it was one of the best roast dinners I’ve ever had. This charming pub excels in every aspect, from the warm, welcoming atmosphere to the truly outstanding food. The highlight, of course, was the roast dinner. The variety of meats on offer—chicken, lamb, and beef—ensures there’s something for everyone. I chose the lamb, which was tender, perfectly cooked, and served in a generous portion, far exceeding my expectations. The inclusion of sprouts, often overlooked in many roasts, was a delightful touch and prepared to perfection. The free cauliflower cheese was the cherry on top, adding a creamy, cheesy element to the meal without an additional charge—a rare and appreciated bonus. What sets The Yew Tree apart is the excellent balance of quality and quantity. Each plate is hearty, satisfying, and made with evident care. The roast is paired with crispy roast potatoes, rich gravy, and fresh vegetables, completing the experience beautifully. I must say this pub is well out of the way but worth finding! The Sunday roast beef was the best Sunday lunch I think I’ve ever had in a pub… the staff were excellent and so were the real ales. I’ll be back 100%. If you try it your love it.

My partner and I were staying nearby and had dinner her one evening. We were blown away. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was wonderful and the pub was quaint and pretty. We are so glad to have visited and will be back next time we are in the area.

What a little gem in Alton! We had a fantastic time visiting dill. We were very late to our reservation due to traffic and the staff were very understanding, which we appreciated. The atmosphere was very relaxing. We had the tomato and mozzarella sourdough special, the hog father (pork belly burger) special and the sweet corn fritters. We very much enjoyed everything!

I had a really enjoyable brunch/lunch at Dill - great food, polite staff and a lovely, chilled atmosphere. I highly recommend the ham hock hash! 🤩

The food was enjoyable and fresh, which is always a plus. Although it took about 25-30 minutes for a simple dish to arrive, the quality made it worth the wait. It was nice to see the ladies at the reception handling greeting and serving duties, as well as taking orders at the counter in a well-coordinated manner. I encountered two ladies, and while one, Trisha, was genuinely kind, friendly, and full of happiness, the other seemed to be having a challenging day and wasn't as pleasant to interact with. Understandably, we all have our off moments. Overall it was a nice first experience.

Stopped for lunch after a walk. Great food, especially the dhaal and ham hock. Loved the Ten Tun Tap house beer from over the road. Will come back soon to try the burgers!

The steak I was served was literally the best I have ever eaten. As the Dutch saying goes, it was like an angel pissing on your tongue. Thank you Nick for this joyous moment.

If you are thinking about eating here consider this your sign to book and go immediately! Tonight my husband, daughter and I visited for my birthday dinner and it did not disappoint! We shared a pork belly and a halloumi starter. Now when I tell you the pork belly was one of the most amazing things I've eaten that's the understatement of the century it was insanely good! The halloumi was good too but the pork belly was just sheer perfection! Having finished our starters we were excited for our main course. My husband had the full rack of ribs and sweet potato fries, I had the half rack of ribs and truffle and parmigiana chips and my daughter had the popcorn chicken and chips (apologies for the half eaten meals pics for the mains but it looked so good we tucked in straight away!). The meat melted off the ribs and tasted soooooo good. My daughter and I finally finished off sharing a sticky toffee pudding and ice cream which was also divine. We've decided that this will now be our go to for any birthday or big celebration! It's more expensive than your every day pub dinner but the food is of a completely different standard way above that of a pub and honestly was worth every single penny! Note to the chef thank you so much for the fantastic food! To the wonderful waitress who kindly poured my daughters lemonade in a gin glass with ice, Strawberries and lemon so it looked like my gin you are a gem. You were so kind and welcoming and are a credit to the restaurant. Heavens kitchen it was an absolute pleasure 🙏🏼 thank you so much and I look forward to our next visit already! Notes for anyone visiting - they have tables outside the back (which have umbrellas to provide shade) as well as inside. There isn't much off road parking opposite but there are plenty of car parks within a short walking distance of the restaurant. The staff were super accommodating for my 8 year old daughter and the kids Menu consists of 4 main options and puddings so plenty of choice although the starters or sides would also work if you wanted to create something different!

5 stars only because I can't put 6 or 7. Lovely place, excellent food (the duck breast...), nice staff. It's always a pleasure to go there.

Had the most fabulous lunch for 7 at The Fur and Feathers. A surprise oasis of sublimely delicious food. Seasonal ingredients featured highly on the menu and all food was obviously home made from chutneys to puddings with a lot of effort put into every dish. Would recommend highly.

Great service as always. The pie was perfect, beautiful crust! Delicious filling and plenty of it. Burger was best in class and very well presented.

Had a great Sunday Roast here. My wife and I had the Nut Roast which was superb. Nice and moist etc. and the whole meal was very pleasant. Great friendly attentive staff all round too. Would happily return.

We stopped for lunch in this pleasant village from our walk of the local hills. A muddy day but staff were ok with us keeping our boots on! Large bar with two adjacent dining rooms and lots of original features. Just two cask ales on offer the day we visited...both sampled and were in excellent condition and well served by friendly staff. Food was excellent and delivered promptly. Prices typical of the area. Worth coming back ... Perhaps when it's less muddy.

We visited for the first time as we were in the area and looking for a main meal. There wasn't many reviews on this pub so we took a punt. First thoughts were great choice of food on the menu, so many delicious meals to choose from and great selection for the kids. The food was fantastic! We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Also they had a bookshelf with games and colouring for the kids which is a great touch. At first we commented how nice it was to have fresh water put on the table without asking, however they added £3 onto the bill at the end for the water which is wrong, considering we didn't realise or get told this. That is the reason for the 4* and not 5. And also the fact dogs are allowed and a breed I am severely allergic to was sat on the table next to us, so we did have to hurry our food down to leave. Also we did say thank you and bye to the (what I assume is the landlady) and we were ignored.

We booked a table last minute and arrived for dinner as a group of 4. The service was great, good absolutely delicious, would 100% come back. There's a really good vegetarian selection on the menu! Very generous portions.

A much awaited visit to this gorgeous new restaurant in my home town didn't disappoint. The Thai inspired dishes were bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. The staff were polite, attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant is fairly small and had a great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend to friends and can't wait to visit again very soon.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this being the restaurant of a Masterchef winner but I wasn't disappointed. The food outshone what I had experienced in the oriental parts of the world. It was gorgeous, the food sang from my taste buds in ways I haven't encountered since I came to this part of the world. The waitresses were friendly and attentive, I couldn't ask more from them. Their delivery of food from kitchen to plate, with a smile, was all I could ever ask for.. The overall experience was simple, with the food being front and centre, stealing the show. Would I go back... I want to go back already and I have only just left. Go here, eat the deliciousness on offer and have an amazing meal.

This is a lovely, owner operated restaurant run by Masterchef winner Chariya, is a little gem. The service is excellent, with friendly staff who offered a warm welcome, were attentive and very helpful with food information. The menu is quite small, which is good because the kitchen produces the dishes really quickly and does a great job of cooking tasty food. Chariya herself works in the kitchen. I look forward to visiting again and trying some other dishes.

Our family visited Khao Soi for a birthday treat on a Saturday lunchtime. It was amazing, the front of house lady was just lovely. Welcoming, friendly and efficient. The food was delicious. There were five of us and all of us cleared our plates. The small plates we had, chicken satay, giant prawn ‘toast’ and dumplings were just superb. Winner across the board was the sweet chilli sauce! We wanted more and they kindly obliged. Couldn’t fault any of the whole experience. It took us an hour and half to get there, but we’ll be back!

Didn't even realise this place was here! Son wanted burgers for his birthday and when we googled Smash brothers came up. So glad it did, burgers were delicious, fries and Parmsan garlic fries we lovely! We will definitely be ordering from here again, everyone has already decided what they will be trying next time.

My wife and I have been here several times now and thought it was high time to leave a review. The burgers are absolutely delicious and possibly the best I've ever had. The guys are friendly and polite, even when very busy. I really hope they stick around for a long time to come. Yummy...

Hands down one of the best burgers I ever had. Would put to shame the vast majority of ‘quality burger’ spots London has to offer. Ordered the double Oklahoma which comes with American cheese, fried onion and American mustard. Absolute flavour bomb. Very reasonably priced as well

Being a burger snob and eating good and bad ones in quite a few places, I had to try out this new place in Alton. I'm glad to say, it's a really good burger! Reminded me of Burgermeister in Berlin, which is a good thing. Fries could have been more crispy but some don't like them as crunchy as I do, so I'll make sure to ask next time to fry them a bit more. I can't wait to try the one with peanut butter! A decent burger place in Alton... Finally!

My favourite place to get the most delicious chai and a fully loaded roll! The staff are great and always go above and beyond to cater for my son who is gluten free. My boys love the milkshakes and hot chocolates too!

Cafe Nosh Bar is the best cafe spot ever! They never fail to impress. It’s such a lovely place, and I highly recommend it! I paid £38 for two people with 10%tip included.

We have visited the pub several times recently and each time have enjoyed a delicious meal and received great service. Each time the staff were attentive and checked we had everything we needed. The food service was great - taking the time I would expect for a freshly prepared meal. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming and the open fire lovely and warm. As a vegetarian I was pleased to be able to choose something different to the usual options offered in other pubs and restaurants. The puddings were delicious … hard to choose as they all sounded so good! The food was fantastic and we can’t wait to return again next. Whether you visit as a family or couple you will not be disappointed.

A true olde world country pub that I and my husband love. We eat here quite regularly and often pop in for just a drink. We can’t fault it. Excellent food at reasonable prices, and friendly service. If you want to swap out any sides included in a main dish for an alternative, it’s never a problem. Always best to book in advance if you want to eat, as it can get very busy.

Had a excellent fish pie last night. Generous, delicious and a nice touch using new potatoes instead of mashed. Good beer & service, and a lovely building.

You couldn't do better for a superb and authentic English country pub. Exceptional atmosphere, friendly welcome, and beautifully-presented, delicious food. Well worth the short diversion off the beaten track.

My partner and I stayed here for my friend wedding. We had a wonderful stay, new landlord has great customer service and did everything possible to help us. Only 2 down points, the fire exit sign was really bright in the room and kept waking us up and there was a low hum we could hear. But apart from the above we enjoyed our stay.

This is my go to place in Alton! The staff are fantastic, the bar is spotless and the food is delicious! You can tell these guys have lots of experience in running bars and pubs as they just make it work so well, no mater what night you come in, bingo, quiz, karaoke it’s all fun and games. Well done to martin and Stacey.

We went down to have some lunch and sit in the sun. There's not too many places in Alton, so being close to the Market, we thought we'd give it a try. The food was great and the service was excellent. Really good experience and all too happy to support a local pub. Highly recommend
