Sunday roasts are back !! Delicious homemade food and warm, friendly and attentive service. They even arranged for the sun to be out for us ;) Definitely worth a visit.

Fabulous place to go to eat. Had a 30th birthday function here with a buffet for over 30 people, one of the best buffets i have ever had at an event. The food was all homemade from scratch and the menu creativity was excellent. My friends and family had such a lovely day, would highly recommend.

Lovely country pub with amazing home-cooked meals. Sunday roasts are back on at the Pear Tree. Molly and Nial are incredibly dedicated landlords who make everyone feel very welcome. Well worth a visit.

I haven't actually tried the food in the pub but have heard it's very good which is why I have five starred it! It does look good, and I've day ill have more than just beer here and try some. Love the pub, nice and quaint, good atmosphere, nice on the summer with the garden, snug and comfy in the winter inside. Got a good feel to it.

Fantastic food. Restored my faith in what a good pub can deliver with the right chef. Lovely garden with a small bouncy castle, small climbing frame and space to run around. Cosy old English pub feel inside and good service. Pretty much everything you would want from a pub! Look no further if you're in the area!

Came here as a big group for my brothers 40th. Food was lovely, I had the vegetarian wellington which was lovely and everyone else enjoyed their food too. Staff were friendly and had a laugh with the gentlemen serving our table. They have a huge garden with a play area. Highly recommend a visit.

Had two meals here now and both have been excellent. So much more than "pub grub". Whenever a restaurant doesn't offer you every dish known to man, you know that's a good sign! The best quality ingredients, cooked and presented beautifully. The staff are always friendly and polite and don't constantly ask "Is everything ok?"

Such a great place, best roast dinner in my life and I love my food, but my god, a lil cozy but the outside is spacious, staff were really great, forgot to take a photo had to tuck in to the plate

Spent an afternoon in its outdoor seating and stayed for a dinner. It can get busy on weekend nights, so I recommend to make a booking. Also, there are lots of bench seating outdoors, but was quite windy and chilly despite the sunny weather early March. They only serve local beers on tap. So there was a limited option, on that day was 1 lager, 2 pale ale (1 non-alcoholic) and a cider. Spirits and wine have more options though. Indoor seating is a bit cozy (exact word the hostess used, I thought was cozy-warm but meant cozy-tight and small). Toilets were not wheelchair friendly but the restaurant was pet-friendly. The end where we sat for dinner was cold, without a working heater. We had to wear our coats. My husband enjoyed the rib eye steak, nice and tender. The foccacia starter had a generous portion of the bread and olive oil. The duck leg was good as well but the portion was a bit small (£24 for a drumstick). I would be willing to pay a little more for a proper leg portion. The view outside the pub is gorgeous. Parking lot can accomodate a lot of cars.

We’ve been to this pub a few times. Standout is the service and the location, and just the beautiful building. The food is also really good. The ONLY thing I don’t like is the selection of beers/ciders on tap, they only serve the products of a local brewery. We always enjoy going and the kids love the garden. We will keep coming back.

Early evening Christmas meal for four people. Meals pre ordered from the Christmas menu First visit visit organised by our friend.. A lively pub, nicely decorated and a good atmosphere. Kitchen on view which we liked. All staff gave us excellent service. The three courses we had were very nice. Hot food was HOT and well cooked and very enjoyable. Would recommend a visit, we will be returning.

Lovely pub with good food and great staff. Drinks options are good (including cocktails) and family friendly. This is a nicely decorated pub, cosy in winter and great outdoor space in summer. They do a lot for the community and have some really good events throughout the year.

Sam recently saved the day & managed to accommodate my baby shower after another place cancelled on me! We hired out the marquee which was the perfect space & we enjoyed the stone baked pizzas & sandwich selection boards. Service was amazing & the support from staff with setting up & cleaning up was brilliant. Thank you so much to The Lapstone who made it so special and smooth.

Really Nice pie steak was so tender just melts in your mouth and Never seen Mash in a side dish but was nice. Staff was Really friendly and welcoming especially the Girls. Mu uncle Ribs Looks great and has nice bit to it. Recommend the pizza as Looks fresh and nice Dough to it would happy to come again.

This pub has been my go to for 8 years, the bar staff have great personalities and work very well together. The beer selection has a nice seasonal change also. The kitchen serve great food and the chemistry between the back of house and front of house is like an episode of the chuckle brothers. Overall a great from experience, great staff, great food and drinks, highly recommend.

This is the Jekyll & Hyde. Not village inn . Popped in here Saturday for some lunch. I cover 30 - 50 Hotels Restaurants pubs in my work. The food here had a Greek vibe to it. As Manager Christopher was an excellent host. Very polite & friendly. Plus good knowledge on Greek food. Excellent pub food. Highly recommended.

This was our first visit. Generally everything was fine. Decent menu variety. Food was fresh, nicely presented and tasty. The only real downside, given the time of year, was the room temperature. Thermostat needed to be turned up a couple of notches...it really wasn't very warm!.

I came in today after a long shift at work and was immediately greeted with a warm welcome. Such lovely attentive staff! The food is absolutely incredible and fixed me up after a long tedious day. I ordered mine for takeaway and was service was fast. Best Indian restaurant in Southampton by far!

Normally use Purbani every so often however… Tonight’s experience: whilst the food tastes great i think nearly £5 for 2 tiny vegetable samosa’s which are mainly filo pastry seems very steep (I wouldn’t purchase again) also seems that chicken in curry+ naan breads seem to be smaller portion sizes than previous visits.

A friendly, welcoming arrival set the tone for an excellent evening of food. Top tier service, authentic food and ice-cold Kingfishers. Can’t ask for much more from an Indian restaurants!

Myself & partner got a takeaway last night via the app. The food was ready at the requested time and was absolutely piping hot still when we got home. Full of flavour and quality and we love a treat here!! Will always get our Indian food from here. Thank you so much.

Group meal out and Ellen (our server) was fab & friendly. Overall the food was lovely, couple of meals weren’t quite as hot as expected but it was busy in there. Would recommend for good hearty pub food. One member of the group had dietary restrictions and although there was an IPad it was confusing on what was impacted or not.

We went to Fox and Hounds for my mum's birthday meal at lunch time today. It was absolutely lovely. Ellen was extremely upbeat despite the restaurant being absolutely packed. There were multiple large groups in for their Christmas meal but Ellen did her best to make sure everyone was taken care of. She advised us that there would be a delay on mains which was fine. The food was definitely worth the wait, everything was superb. And the dessert was best of all. My mum and I ordered the "melting festive bell" and the staff had put it on a cheese board for my mum, with happy birthday written in chocolate and a little tealight for her to blow out. It really made her feel special they completely went the extra mile and made it a fantastic meal for all. My parents haven't been here in almost 40 years and will definitely be coming back. The venue was also decorated beautifully for christmas with a roaring fire in the grate.

The food was lovely, although could've been warmer. The service was slow but I'm not sure if that's cos we were sat out of the way in the corner. I would definitely come back, but not on a time crunch

I am so happy I got what I ordered! No oil, no olive oil, just butter, salt and water. The sea bass is divine, fresh from the sea and the vegetables were perfect. Sophie suggested I try Chapel Down as it was my first time and she is such a connoisseur of these English sparkling wines that I can't wait to try again. The staff are so friendly and amazing. Also they are Pet friendly too!

Amazing local. We have just moved to hedge end 6 weeks ago, it was our 1st kid free night. Myself and the wife wanted dinner and a few beers, the food was perfect, the steak was divine, complement to the chef for that 1. The staff were brilliant, and there was a band on after which were brilliant Win win. All very friendly, staff and customers. Definitely be back

Absolutely love this pub! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are incredibly friendly. The food is top-notch highly recommend the Sunday roast! A perfect spot for a relaxed evening with friends.

Came here for a Sunday lunch, and wow—the roast was incredible! Generous portions, perfectly cooked meat, and the Yorkshire puddings were massive. Service was spot on too.

Had a lovely meal with friends on Monday evening - staff were very welcoming and attentive without being too intense. I struggled to choose from the menu as there was lots of tempting options. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and all said we'd come back. Would recommend!

What a lovely place! Really attractive location overlooking marina, with equally appealing, cosy interior. The food was delicious (except the stake, so it’s not the right place for stake lovers!) and the service was excellent. I will definitely come again when back in Southampton.

This place was highly recommended by our friends, whom we hadn't seen in years. They live locally, so we made a reservation on the same day and had a lovely catch-up over delicious food and a few bottles of wine. This is a great pub but a bit difficult to find if you did know the area. Parking is limited to on-street spots towards the end of narrow lanes. Alternatively, you can park at Bursledon Station car park (free) or arrive by boat. From the street, head down a long outdoor staircase, turn left, go down more stairs, and enter the pub. All this effort is definitely worth it. There are several large rooms with views of the River Hamble, as well as outdoor seating unfortunately a bit cold and wet for that today. The menu is slightly upscale but not overly expensive. There was a variety of beer on offer, as well as a long list of fancy cocktails. The servers were friendly, efficient, and attentive. Can't wait for a return visit especially for Sunday lunch

We went as a family of 3 for my partner's birthday. Firstly, an absolutely stunning location over looking the river and boats. Our daughter loved the view! The food was fantastic. Superb service. The only reason I voted 4 star on atmosphere was it was a midweek lunch and quiet (which we didn't mind with an active 2 year old. Plus service was extra fast!)
