Lovely and welcoming pub, we stopped in here a couple of times during our stay in Stockbridge and we'll definitely be coming back. Good choice of drinks and the food looked amazing although we didn't eat on this occasion.

A perfect place on a chilly day! Lunch was unremarkable (but i envied the baked brie for 2 and red wine enjoyed by another couple at the window table). Lots of cute bric-a-brac. The young servers could barely be bothered to attend us.

Fabulous! Very friendly team, Bozie the pub landlord was lovely as was the lady on the check in. The building itself is beautiful, cozy and inviting. The grounds are lovely with a river running through the garden. We got a room upgrade into one of their beautiful new garden style rooms which were modern and beautifully designed with a contemporary feel. As a woman you could tell it had a female touch as every luxury was catered for. A few little minor things - fresh milk was offered on arrival which was lovely.. but it has soured by the morning so perhaps some emergency UHT milk in the room for emergencies! ☺️ also the tele seemed to be intermittent on the Wi-Fi and kept cutting out however we had had the storm So this may have been the reason. The breakfast was such good quality - my omelette I could safely say was the best I’ve ever had …. And we like our food! 😂 We can’t wait to come back. Thank you so much. Such a wonderful stay. We had a lovely roast dinner today. Having been here before, we thought we’d try the new duck roast. It was delicious! Vegetables were plentiful and beautifully cooked, particularly the red cabbage. A thoroughly good meal, thank you.

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely autumnal Sunday roast here - staff were super duper friendly and the food was super duper tasty. Would highly recommend!

Had dinner there tonight. We have been going on and off for years but for the past 6 months or so, this establishment has really upped its game. Food consistently good. Tonight it was the best that it has ever been! Atmosphere great and service wonderful. Special shout out to Joe who always makes the dining experience personal and goes the extra mile - so hard working to make sure that we have a great time! Thank you 🙏🏼

Ended there last Sunday for lunch and we totally loved it so we went back. I definitely recommend this place for an amazing roast dinner, meat is cooked to perfection (we had beef,) and the selection of veggies is the best i have ever tried. Doesn’t have a big menu, but if you are after a great roast, this is definitely the place. I also recommend the Crab Thermidor.

Perfect! Having just moved close by, we couldn't be more happy with our new 'local'. Good beer, great food, atmosphere and very friendly landlady and staff. We had a great evening and will be happy to be back, and again, and again, and again...

Found this place by chance after camping in the New Forest for the weekend. 100% recommend, a great menu and yummy food. I had the chicken and waffles and it came with a generous helping of maple syrup. The only thing I would change is serving the syrup on the side. I also had one of the best chai lattes I’ve ever had. Our dogs were made to feel welcome and were given treats by the staff. Thank you so much for a lovely breakfast!

Went on a Monday and got the vegan full Kimbridge - it was lush! The only “criticism” is that I’d have liked 1 more hash brown because they were perfection and there was waaaaay too much butter lol. But we will definitely be going back. The courgette fritters were fried to perfection. Great atmosphere, lovely location and the staff were very accommodating!

Great brunch place, excellent coffee and all the food is sourced locally which I love! The boot room is especially cosy for coffee and cake on a cold miserable day with its nice fireplace. Only downside (which isn't their fault) is it gets very busy at weekends so do book on advance to avoid disappointment as this has happened a couple times to us.

Saturday I had Chicken snitzel and my wife had the Haddock we both enjoyed the food. We returned on Sunday I had the Bacon belly and my wife had the scallops we both enjoyed so much so that I said complements to the Chef. Wonderful food. Good atmosphere and a craft shop too.

A splendid day fishing on Park Stream. John O’ Gaunt was the perfect pub lunch. A selection of fine ales, selling fishing flies behind the bar, and outstanding, friendly service. The pie of the day I had was beef and blue cheese, unlike many places that may serve dishes with blue cheese, the flavour was perfectly balanced and fuelled the afternoon’s endeavours to catch a trout.

We had a delicious evening meal. Both gluten-free. The mushy peas which accompanied my GF fish and chips, was beautifully seasoned. And my husband's GF crumble was the best he'd tasted (I'm never making crumble for him again LOL). And he said his homemade burger was exceptional. The lovely landlady couldn't have been friendlier either.

Amazing roast dinner. Best I’ve had out in ages! Piping hot, tasty and plentiful. Good ambiance, warm, great selection of beers and friendly and attentive staff. Won’t hesitate to recommend and can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic country pub with amazing staff and great food, warm fires and a real friendly feel. very dog friendly as well, after a hard days beating in the rain and wind the dogs laid by the fire and the Landlady even bought a bed over for them. Food was outstanding my recommendation would be the venison scotch eggs perfectly cooked and delicious, followed by a fab pie! Heaven!!

The food was absolutely delicious—well beyond my expectations! (The photo doesn’t do it justice.) The service was equally impressive, with attentive and friendly staff who made the experience even better. We’ll definitely be coming back and can’t wait to bring family and friends along!

Popped in here after reading reviews and WOW it didn't disappoint..We asked the young lady serving us for her recommendations and she suggested the burger. I have to say, as a big burger fan, this was the nicest I have ever had. I want to drive the 40 odd miles it is from us just for the burger alone! Neither or my partner could finish it, it was SO filling. We were gutted to be full because it was so tasty. Next time we won't have starters so we can scoff the whole thing! Starters were amazing too. Overall a lovely place seeped with history. The thatched roof makes it so cosy as does the open fire. Definitely our fave pub meal and when we have some respite we'll be back! Definitely a place for a romantic meal so a respite visit only :)

Absolutely stunning makeover for a hidden gem! We are locals and visited a few years ago, and it was nothing compared to what it is now! The new huge expansion and development of a traditional country pub, but created for the modern demands of customer experience of great food and local produce, captured by natural beautiful surroundings is a 10 out 10! The staff were really knowledgeable and very helpful. The service was relaxed, and the new extension we sat in was really impressive, and the garden area was picture-perfect for anyone whether socially with family, or friends or romantically, this pub would suite anyone wanting to visit a real country pub tucked away off the beaten track. The menu offers up some mouth-watering delights, and they have specials every day and offer gluten-free options, which is clearly marked. The portions are very generous but plated up with care and foodie flare! We enjoyed every mouthful. It's dog friendly, with free ample parking, and I can imagine this pub will be a hot spot for locals and outside visitors for many years to come. Highly recommended!!! Come rain or shine. We showed up without a booking, on a sunny Saturday when the kitchen was about to close. The staff could not have been more accommodating. The food came fast and was delicious. Would highly recommend.

Unreal roast dinner, me and a mate got the chicken and sirloin roast and both thoroughly enjoyed them. Followed by the unreal “bowman brownie”. And to top it off a perfectly poured pint of Asahi and amazing service, all at an amazing price ! Great pub

Great to see the Bowman open and fully functional once again. Fantastic friendly and attentive staff. Clutter free and now very clean. Improved range of beers particularly some from the Flower Pots. Outstanding improvements across the board except the food. Early days but there are no specials on the board, always a highlight of the old regime. The base menu is limited and similar to many average pubs put pricing is on the high side. I went for the safe option of a burger and chips £17. Dry and limited in flavour. Disappointing. I love the Bowman and will return. I won’t try the burger again but will try to find something that appeals. I hope they address the food issue otherwise it will simply be a stop off on a walk. That would be a shame.

Been a long time fan of The Hampshire Bowman and can comfortably say that the new owners have kept the rural independent feel whilst introducing a fresh and vibrant character to the place. The ales are crisp and dogs welcome. My only tip: call ahead! Even weekdays can be surprising busy so best to give them a call.

We stopped here for lunch on a cold and wet Friday, and are very glad we did. We had the set menu which was great value at £19.95 for two courses and £24.95 for three. The food was superb, definitely one the best pub meals I've had in a long time. My wife had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was not only delicious but huge. I also had a couple of pints of real ale from a good selection of local cask ales. We look forward to returning.

Myself and my husband went for Sunday lunch. Welcoming and friendly. Staff were polite and we didn't wait long for drinks or our food. I had the pork belly roast and it was probably the best roast iv had. It wasn't to fatty, just the right amount of everything. It was delicious. I also went on to have the warm chocolate brownie and salted caramel ice-cream.... Again, I really enjoyed It. We can't wait to come back for more.

Brilliant Sunday lunch! One of the best Sunday roasts I have had out in a long time. Delicious food and great service. We love going here after a dog walk on Cow Common.

Desert was great, main dish sadly was disappointing, mushrooms were kind of lost in dish that was supposed to be mushrooms based. The location and pub itself were beautiful.

We had a lovely evening on Valentine’s Day. The set menu was executed well and the cooking excellent. Service was very friendly, we’ll be back! It’s also dog friendly.

Wonderful attention to detail. Superb quality food. Venison potpie lovely delicate flavour, triple cooked chips light and crisp, sourdough bread had lovely texture and not too sour.

I had a truly lovely meal here followed by a luxurious and peaceful nights sleep on the Hayloft. I couldn't have asked for more. The service was excellent, the room was cosy and very restful. The food was all excellent and I clearly need to stay there more often as the menu was extensive. Thank you for a very memorable evening

Fantastic eatery with exquisite food, friendly & attentive staff and an excellent wine menu 🍷 ! Not pictured is the delicious rib eye that didn’t last long after being placed in front of me! 🥩 I had the chorizo “nibble”-sized appetiser, followed by the baked potato gnocchi (so so good!), steak and sticky toffee pudding (which I wish I had shared with someone after all that!). Would highly recommend and hope to be back soon.

Walk in on a Sunday and was accommodated very easily. Sunday roast was lovely (it is not often my husband clears his plate - but he did here) staff are very polite and professional. Will definitely be back for goatfest

This place is beautifully styled, and the food was lovely. The atmosphere was fresh, bright, and relaxed. Even the restrooms were spotless and well-designed. The dishes were served with great care, and the chef did an excellent job with each one. This place is worth visiting, and I'm happy we chose it.

The service was amazing and very friendly. The food tasted lovely, my only issue was I think the veg portion was quite a bit smaller than other local places for roasts, only one of my potato’s were crispy, and not much gravy is served- although you can ask for more for the table. But, that’s my only negative! The sticky toffee pudding was also delicious.

The food was amazing! We had the chicken and mushroom pie and pork with parma ham and mushroom sauce, both absolutely delicious. Staff was very friendly, polite and welcoming! Would recommend 100%!
