I have only ever been in twice and the list recent this week at about 9.45pm. It was very quiet, which suited me as I was wanting yo catch up with a friend. Good drink selection and lovely comfortable chairs. It's vast inside with lots of seating areas and a wait here sign which makes me think it must get very busy at times, but it's rely very nice inside and probably a great place for family sunday lunch. For me it's a drive from home, I should imagine most customers must drive, which is why I don't go. Plenty of parking and easy access. It's a very pretty pub inside and out.
The star of the show is the lovely Chris behind the bar. He made our trip ! Chatty , friendly & bent over backwards to help and give local knowledge. Room was nice enough , comfy big bed & clean good value for money. Direct bus to winchester right outside. Just a couple of staff (im guessing more senior in title) around restaurant/bar area could be a bit more mindful of how they come across to the staff under them & customers that hear it. Cooked Breakfast on Saturday was great but Sunday when it was busy and only a hot/cold buffet could do with some work as was quite chaotic seating wise.
We had a lovely stay at the hotel. Staff were very friendly, check in was quick and easy. Room was normal - we had 2 pop up beds for the kids. Only negative comment is the mattress was too firm for us. Breakfast was lovely in the morning. Location was 15minutes away from Paultons park.
