Popped in here with family and had a lovely meal. Being able to sit at the table undercover, it was raining, and still watch all the boats was very relaxing. We ordered cheese and bacon burger, nduja macaroni cheese and a banana wharf salad. The service was extremely polite and efficient. Great selection of beers, ales, ciders and wines. I bet its very popular in the evenings. The food was lovely and hot and tasted very fresh. The only criticism I could make is its a bit expensive but I guess your paying for the location as well. Its a large menu so plenty to choose from. Ill definitely come here again.

Great service and great food. Plus all you can eat ribs on a Thursday! We were seated and served by friendly and attentive staff. One person at our table asked how spicy one of the dishes was, and the waiter brought a sample to taste, and was able to ask the chef to offer an alternative sauce. Everything was delicious and fresh. Thought the place was busy, somone was always on hand to attend to us. Garlic bread was as good as Garlic bread can be. Duck tacos were stuffed with delicious filling, packed with flavour. Hamburger was cooked to perfection. The salmon was yummy and prepared especially for the person who ordered it. The truffle fries were okay, they were not terrible but they could have done with a stronger truffle flavour and didn’t need the cheese. Coleslaw was fresh and light. Ribs were soft and delicious, fell off the bone and moist. The ribs sauce was quite rich, I recommend not having and starters, so you can have more ribs 😬 wish we came hungrier. Bonus: Dog friendly

Such a picturesque setting, right on the harbour. Despite Storm Derral, it was cosy inside, watching the boats bobbing about. The food was superb, and so much of it too! Throughly enjoyed.

Lovely little place, staff always helpful. Inside tables cleaned after each customer which is good to see but they need to re-do the menus to a wipeable version though please! so they are not so stained & quite so grubby. It would be great to see a few low fat options on the menu as many of us ladies want to eat out but enjoy low cal meals to be honest it would attract more people. Outside tables need an update & revamp as stained & torn sofas. It could be made so pretty with some tlc. Lovely views.

An escape from the UK. Didnt feel like we were in the UK. Was lovely being sat looking at all the boats/yachts in the harbour/quay. Service was great, food was amazing. A little pricey but totally worth it!

Visited this place before the New Year. Had the black and blue burger and was left a little underwhelmed. Burger was great but seemed to lack in flavour the evening we went. Shame as everything else was perfect. The service was excellent and the site is in an excellent location. Food was good, not bad but was lacking in taste for me. Probably would visit again.

What a lovely place! Really attractive location overlooking marina, with equally appealing, cosy interior. The food was delicious (except the stake, so it’s not the right place for stake lovers!) and the service was excellent. I will definitely come again when back in Southampton.

Had a lovely meal with friends on Monday evening - staff were very welcoming and attentive without being too intense. I struggled to choose from the menu as there was lots of tempting options. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and all said we'd come back. Would recommend!

We went as a family of 3 for my partner's birthday. Firstly, an absolutely stunning location over looking the river and boats. Our daughter loved the view! The food was fantastic. Superb service. The only reason I voted 4 star on atmosphere was it was a midweek lunch and quiet (which we didn't mind with an active 2 year old. Plus service was extra fast!)

We went to Fox and Hounds for my mum's birthday meal at lunch time today. It was absolutely lovely. Ellen was extremely upbeat despite the restaurant being absolutely packed. There were multiple large groups in for their Christmas meal but Ellen did her best to make sure everyone was taken care of. She advised us that there would be a delay on mains which was fine. The food was definitely worth the wait, everything was superb. And the dessert was best of all. My mum and I ordered the "melting festive bell" and the staff had put it on a cheese board for my mum, with happy birthday written in chocolate and a little tealight for her to blow out. It really made her feel special they completely went the extra mile and made it a fantastic meal for all. My parents haven't been here in almost 40 years and will definitely be coming back. The venue was also decorated beautifully for christmas with a roaring fire in the grate.

I am so happy I got what I ordered! No oil, no olive oil, just butter, salt and water. The sea bass is divine, fresh from the sea and the vegetables were perfect. Sophie suggested I try Chapel Down as it was my first time and she is such a connoisseur of these English sparkling wines that I can't wait to try again. The staff are so friendly and amazing. Also they are Pet friendly too!

Group meal out and Ellen (our server) was fab & friendly. Overall the food was lovely, couple of meals weren’t quite as hot as expected but it was busy in there. Would recommend for good hearty pub food. One member of the group had dietary restrictions and although there was an IPad it was confusing on what was impacted or not.

Booked here this evening and had a superb meal, the atmosphere was really nice and made to feel at home. The service was second to none and Gabrielle was attentive in all aspects of what was needed to make the visit a memorable one. Price of the meal was spot on costing just over £25 PP including a drink (I had two pints) for a 2 course meal. They had a guest ale on which I was assured is a regular thing. All in all a really nice place to have a meal with a good menu selection and a specials board as well.

Christmas dinner for 21 for a Hamble based motorcycle group and partners. The whole meal / event was amazing from start to finish food was great, except the Xmas pudding which was a 5/10. Band in the main bar was great. Will definitely be back again soon, thanks to Dan and his team.

Saw earlier in the week a new menu was being released and knew we had to come and try it! Fantastic options for all courses and plenty of gluten free and vegetarian choices. We went for the garlic mushrooms and chilli and garlic king prawns to start, they were both incredible! For mains our son had the pizza with added ham, a brilliant sized portion for a kids meal! We had the sirloin steak medium well and the new Nelsons Column burger, both cooked perfectly and the burger was definitely impressive! Sadly we were too full for desserts which was a shame as so much to choose from! Amazing food, great atmosphere, brilliant service!!

We had a baby shower there today, and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely lovely and nothing was too much trouble for the staff to help with or do - they were truly amazing. Would highly recommend. Thank you to Lauren and all of her wonderful staff. :)

I went there for a lovely pint and a steak & ale pie. It was lovely and very tasty but there was something missing. The gravy is heavenly and the hand-cooked chips were also very nice but the pie was really small in my opinion. But the whole staff was very kind.

This was a great lunchtime experience. We had 2 items from the prefix lunchtime menu for £20, which was great value. The prawns, onion bhaji and hamhock egg and chips were all delicious. The Fourtyniner beer was also a great option. A highly recommended dining experience! 👌

We ordered veg burger and hot dog and the taste was overall good. We really love the fries, they were different but soft and one of its kind. Would love to visit again because of its fries ;) service was good too may be add live music for the lively atmosphere.

Always enjoy stopping in The Bugel when we are catching the ferry across the water. Excellent atmosphere and pub, so friendly. Outdoor and indoor seating. Always have a lovely stop. Drinks are very fairly priced. Highly recommend the parmesan cheese chips. So tasty! The wine is always delicious and in the warmer months, it's lovely to sit outside and enjoy the sun! Also dog friendly pub which is always a bonus!

We had the Sunday roast at The Bugle and the food was exceptional - good quality and plenty of it. Service was impeccable. We had a great experience.

This was a meal for 14. The staff were very welcoming. They made it easy for us to split the bill into 3 units. Food arrived promptly, well presented & good quality. A very nice evening had by everyone. Full marks to The Old Ship crew.

Really enjoyed our Sunday Roast here! Lovely atmosphere and a delicious food! We came without booking, but the place got full up really quick and some tables did have a "reserved" card on. So to avoid disappointment it might be worth securing a table beforehand. Especially on a Sunday. Service was excellent, portions really good and food very tasty. We had Chicken Roasts - one small portion and one regular. Small portion was normal size for me, so I was actually very full afterwards! I highly recommend this place!

We fancied some good homemade pub food and we were not disappointed. Often pubs have homecooked on the menu but homemade is harder to find. There was a good selection of specials on the board on top of a pleasing selection of staple pub classics in the menu. The food was very good, piping hot and the portions were generous. The bar area was cosy, comfortable and had a good selection of beers, wines, etc, as you'd hope. What I like about the Old Ship is the querky mix of open seating at ground level and the inviting central bar that faces stairs that take you down to the even more cosy and low ceilinged seated area below. Sometimes the open fire is on and it brings a lovely warmth to this old tavern. It has a friendly feel to the place and is more traditionally presented which I love. Food and drinks are ordered at the bar which is fine but I think the staff that were delivering food could be a bit more attentive and proactive. Also the seat my wife sat on was filthy... perhaps from dogs? Otherwise we really enjoyed it and will definitely be back soon.

Very welcoming traditional pub. Well maintained and cosy. Great atmosphere and very friendly welcome. Food was outstanding and well proportioned for the price. Would highly recommend.

Had a lovely evening with family celebrating my daughters 21st. Food was amazing and considering there were 9 of us, food was served at the same time, piping hot. Steak cooked to perfection, all the food was delicious. All the servers were lovely, nothing was to much trouble. Will definitely be back. Thank you guys.

Good service especially checking and giving information of allergies and intolerance. Waiting staff very open to discussing the options. Parking good. Beer fine. Nieve served us well However I find it strange that while all the table sauces and salt are in see through glass condiments the pepper is not. Pepper mill is wooden and mostly empty. When suggested the use of refillable glass pepper mills might be better than wooden I was give the message that it was " company policy" to use them . This is a policy which should be reconsidered as see through pepper mills could be quickly replaced when low or empty

This place is amazing.. the food is amazing. Ben the chef is brilliant. It has amazing atmosphere and all the staff are so nice 😍 even if you just come in for a coffee . Dogs are welcome and the location is superb. We spend almost every weekend here we love it .. Steve, Nicky and Harvey (the dog)

Regularly visit The Boathouse, so lucky to have on our doorstep. Staff always friendly and super helpful. Louis the new Manager is always welcoming and seems to run a very smooth and calm business. Great atmosphere and food and facilities are excellent. Can’t wait for the summer again to enjoy the alfresco experience. Had a great meal with friends last Saturday, would totally recommend the Skate Wing Schnitzel if you want to try something new. Great for a meal with friends and family, just a drink or even a coffee in the cafe area. Our friends are so envious that we have such a lovely place so close to our home. If you haven’t been, you are missing out.

Went to the meet the producers evening and it was a 10/10. Every dish was perfect with a drink pairing (we especially liked the cocktail with the dessert). They do these events really well and you can tell the chefs are passiontate. We will be returning for more. Only minor critique is that they run the event at the back of the restaurant next to the toilets so when the presentation was being carried out people were having to walk through and interrupt. Why not move it to the front where it is better located?

Fantastic newly opened venue at Premier Swanwick Marina. Fantastic service, great food in an amazing setting. Outside space is huge and well designed if you have nice weather. Indoors feel light and modern.
