WOW!!! I've only been living in Arlesford 6 years and only just found this wonderful hidden gem and I say hidden because the outside isn't screaming fantastic restaurant in fact I can't actually it's screams anything...Whether that's deliberate or not myself and my partner thought let's give it try and we had no idea what laid behind the coffee shop lounge and went through a door saying Come Through....I was literally flawed by the site of a long stretched bar and then tables and chairs that looked very inviting and lighting. The entire decor and lighting felt warm, and eye-catching colours and furniture. Not over the top or pretentious, just well thought out and executed well. Now, onto the menu and drinks we were offered....We looked at the menus and was impressed with the choices. So we started with a cocktails then chose our starters and mains wines...Then even had a cheese board with crackers and we sat in there from 7 til 9pm and didn't even realise we'd sat in the for two hours because we had one of the best meals in a long time and we've eaten in some pretty good places over the years and we just kept agreeing how well presented it was and most of all the flavours of food were exceptional too....The relaxed atmosphere and very attentive and friendly staff made it an even better experience and seeing the chef do his thing was also very impressive. It was only right to gave our compliments to the Chef 👨‍🍳 We had a lovely chat with our waiter who enlightened us on the back story of the restaurant that's been there for around 18 months and their future plans to open extra days. Which is very impressive and exciting for the owners I'm sure as they have something quite special going on there I just think they need to shout out more about it because I'm not sure like us if everyone is very aware of what's beyond the door or if we're just the last to find out lol. We left with big smiles and very satisfied bellies and can't wait to take our friends and family there for a treat. On top of that the prices were absolutely reasonable for that standard of food. Who knew?? The Town House provided the perfect end to an otherwise ordinary day. We were blown away by the delicious food, wine and wonderful service….all at a very reasonable price. If you’re in Alresford, you must go - it cheered me up no end!

We absolutely loved our Sunday roast at the townhouse today. Food has been consistently delicious every time we’ve visited. And the Madelines, oh my goodness!! Yum. Food is made with love for sure! Service was 10/10. it’s such a calm welcoming environment, highly recommend :)

I had the most amazing trip to The town House. We have been for both Sunday lunch and supper last night. Both were amazing and I would go again rain or shine, night or day! 10/10 for food, drinks and service! I’m planning my next trip already!

Popped in here after reading reviews and WOW it didn't disappoint..We asked the young lady serving us for her recommendations and she suggested the burger. I have to say, as a big burger fan, this was the nicest I have ever had. I want to drive the 40 odd miles it is from us just for the burger alone! Neither or my partner could finish it, it was SO filling. We were gutted to be full because it was so tasty. Next time we won't have starters so we can scoff the whole thing! Starters were amazing too. Overall a lovely place seeped with history. The thatched roof makes it so cosy as does the open fire. Definitely our fave pub meal and when we have some respite we'll be back! Definitely a place for a romantic meal so a respite visit only :)

The food was absolutely delicious—well beyond my expectations! (The photo doesn’t do it justice.) The service was equally impressive, with attentive and friendly staff who made the experience even better. We’ll definitely be coming back and can’t wait to bring family and friends along!

We showed up without a booking, on a sunny Saturday when the kitchen was about to close. The staff could not have been more accommodating. The food came fast and was delicious. Would highly recommend.

Very welcoming staff, who were particularly great with our kids (5&8yrs). The food options were fabulous. All good, was delicious. Good selection of wines & beers. Board games available [Also, as we'd rung ahead to confirm, we were also able to stay overnight in our camper (big carpark & quiet throughout the night)]

Absolutely fabulous place. Staff exceptionally attentive. Food excellent. Exceeded our expectation. Great atmosphere. A celebration of my 80th Birthday. Champagne Hi Tea.. Even provided small cake with candle beautifully decorated.Will definately come back again. Not not just for an occasion. A lasting memory.

What an amazing place for lunch! One of the best restaurants we’ve been to in a very long time. Service excellent, food delicious and an ambiance to savour and enjoy. Thank you Ivy and our server, Cameron, we had a wonderful lunch. We were given surprise birthday cakes to celebrate our birthdays, such a lovely touch. A meal to remember. Can’t recommend it enough.

Lovely decor and the staff were friendly. A shout out to the toilets for being stylish and very clean. Food wise, the starters were delicious, squid and arancini are definitely recommended but the mains left a little to be desired. However, the chocolate / celebratory bombe on the other hand was amazing and the staff even wrote us a sweet message. I'd go again to try other food from the menu and would try the afternoon tea or the cocktails. 4.5/5 + £££

The Ivy is a great place to eat with unusual food on offer. I had whisky barrel smoked venison tartare to start and goose, turkey, and duck shepherd's pie for my main. The staff were very attentive. My only complaint is the acoustics are very poor and we had to shout across the table in order to have a conversation. It is a popular place as it was packed on a Monday evening a week before Christmas.

I've been dropping into this pub on and off for many years. It is a historical place with lots of charm, in a beautiful setting in the Itchen valley. Needless to say it's a great place to end up after a walk. It's a cosy, welcoming place. The staff are lovely and helpful, and nothing seems too much trouble. The food is hearty and a good standard. The garden is lovely on a good day. It's well worth a visit, even if you just drop in for a drink. May it continue to be a joy for years to come!

We had a lovely lunch whilst on our cycle ride past this charming pub by the river. It is always very busy so I recommend booking a table in advance. Beautiful log fires to compliment the rural countryside decor. The food was beautifully presented and tasted lovely. My only criticism would be the quality of the side salad. It was very basic for the price point. The food portions are on the conservative size too. Otherwise I would recommend and return. Especially great in the summer where you can sit in their lovely garden

Beautiful old style pub. Great food. Brilliant service. Stunning location. I took my mother here for lunch. She has many happy childhood memories of this pub when some of her family owned the pub (she’s 85 years old). Charlie served us and was super friendly. He was more than happy to listen to my mother tell him about the pub from years ago. It really made her day. THANK YOU CHARLIE. You are credit to the pub. Definitely recommend this place.

This is a great pub to visit during the summer, when you can sit outside in the sun and enjoy the tranquility of the English countryside. The garden is pretty and nicely kept, and you can see the crystal clear river Itchen close by. Just beyond the pub garden is a really lovely walk over a bridge and along the river, where you can observe the beauty of nature. The staff here were helpful and accommodating. It's everything a country village pub should be.

We arrived for lunch on a Tuesday without a booking. The menu was extensive and the food was delicious and good value.

Absolutely exceptional experience! We were a group of 8 without a booking at lunch time on a Saturday, and the hostess very kindly found us two tables next to each other. The food was absolutely exceptional (I had the lamb rump), service was impeccable. We will definitely be back - I suspect they do an outstanding Sunday roast and I want to try it!

Dropped in on a whim and was so surprised. Lovely atmosphere, warm and welcoming. We ate two lovely meals, well served and presented... tasted simply gorgeous. Excellent value for money, good portion size, hot plates 😀 Thanks guys.

Had a really lovely meal this week for my mum's 80th. They do a Prix Fixe menu for £20 for 2 courses which was perfect for what we were looking for. The quality of the food was excellent!! Beautifully cooked food and very friendly service. I have so much respect for good hospitality staff and this lady was a pro! Thank you for looking after us and making my mum's birthday lunch so lovely. We will be back x

A lovely welcoming pub with a good atmosphere. The food was excellent with good sized portions and it was all piping hot. Service was just bordering on being slow, but overall we had a very positive experience and we would definitely recommend a visit here.

Wow! My grandparents lived in Alresford for nearly 40 years but didn't use the pubs. So I was very pleasantly surprised today when we went here for the first time! Lovely cosy pub really homely, great decor and atmosphere, friendly staff who loved the dogs. Really scrumptious roast dinners. Will definitely come back. Thank you so much.

Had sunday lunch and it was excellent plenty of it and the apple&raspberry crumble for dessert is a must would recommend it to anyone 😋.

We stayed in the suite which was lovely. Had a huge standalone bathtub and four poster bed. It was at the end of the row of rooms so nice and quiet. Bathroom was nicely decorated and the room had all the facilities we needed. Very swift check in process got taken to our room. The pub is a busy place, the staff all seemed a little stressed throughout our stay which is why I've knocked a point off. Although I do want to add every staff member we encountered was friendly. We had an evening meal in the restaurant, we had brie to start which came out cold which was disappointing but other dishes such as crispy beef, gammon steak, and sausage and mash where all decent. The service of the food was really quick. The full cooked Breakfast was really good. Free car parking is a bonus.

I haven't stayed here, but, when I have visited, the staff are always lovely, friendly and welcoming. The food is always of good quality. I like the different areas to sit and relax, or eat.....a lovely old-fashioned vibe!

Lovely relaxing cosy hotel. Serving lovely meals with a welcoming atmosphere.I cannot recommend the Sunday dinner enough. It's rare for hotels to offer a Sunday roast in the evening. Such a good idea because after the hearty breakfast on the menu you most certainly wouldn't be able to do the large tasty roast dinner justice at lunchtime. My cousin and I had the beef and my husband had the pork, both were equally good. The rooms are well-appointed with everything you need. Nice and insulated for heat and noise.

I had the pleasure of dining at the Woolpack, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm and welcoming, creating a lovely atmosphere in this charming country pub. The food was not only delicious but beautifully presented, perfectly paired with some great wine. The blond and I had a fantastic evening and left thoroughly impressed. Whether you’re looking for a place to enjoy a drink or a delicious meal, I highly recommend the Woolpack—you won’t be disappointed!

The staff were very good: friendly, welcoming and focused on their job. The rooms were comfortable, clean but maybe a little on the small side. That said the room rates with breakfast was good and the breakfast itself was excellent. We ate dinner in the restaurant and it was high quality if a little pricey. Only an overnight stop but definitely consider using it again

We stayed at the Woolpack while in the area for a friends wedding. Lizzie was a fabulous waitress - checking in and making sure we were well looked after. New menu items such as the linguine were delicious and the burger was especially standout. Thank you team for a great stay

Stopped by for lunch whilst we were in the area. Exceptional service, good quality food and friendly staff. I'm autistic and have sensory processing issues, a member of staff noticed I had loops in my ears ( in ear defenders) and without me having to ask offered to turn down the music. If we're in the area again will definitely visit again. We were told it's under new management and just wanted to share this review to help them out.

We stopped off for drinks in the massive garden that's so well catered for and is great for families with young children. There is plenty of parking too. Lovely and cozy inside. -------------------------------- We went for a meal for the first time on a very quiet night on a Monday in December. We checked the menu out prior to coming and saw it was priced on the higher side for a local pub/restaurant, so we were expecting great things. Unfortunately, there were a few things that let it down for us, and I hope this feedback is taken with good intentions. The starters were ok and reasonably priced. The mains were not so Lamb shank Beef Cheeks Pan fried seabase All costing between £24 and £25 The beef and lamb were with mash and gravy, and the fish with couscous and a white wine saffron sauce. No side vegetables accompanied the meat dishes, so it was very heavy on the mash and gravy, nothing green or seasonal to balance it out. The one very small fillet of seabase was ok but served as a child's portion on a very large plate and about three spoonfuls of vegetable couscous and scrapping of sauce. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo of this dish. At those prices, you would expect the trimmings for the heavy meat and mash that was tasty and cooked well, by the way. The fish dish at £24.95 was not an adult portion. My partner had eaten it in a few mouthfuls. We were the only people dining in there and were also charged 12% service charge on top as a bit much and should be optional at those food prices. We don't mind paying those prices and have done many times and more, but unfortunately, the offerings do not match the prices, we pay less for more in town which is the competition and for us personally felt cheated out of the very simplest of things like some seasonal vegetables and at least two small fillets of seabase and maybe a few more spoonfuls of couscous for the money. It's a shame because overall, the food was nice and tasty, but the price is way over top and if the prices are kept that high and nothing is added to justify it or to make it special then it simply won't sustain in the long run in my humble opinion. £119.36 was the bill total with no vegetables added sad times 😢

Came for Sunday roast. Excellent food, good portion sizes and reasonable prices. Too full for dessert but am sure its equally as nice!

Really lovely pub. The staff were great, even spotting my partner's ear defenders and offering to lower the music! The food delicious. The vegetarian burger was tasty, and the profiteroles delicious! I would definitely recommended it.
