“The one thing I’ve really wanted from the shed is finally here - a quality Indian restaurant! I’ve been spoilt by amazing Indian restaurants in previous places I’ve lived - but this is really really good. I always think a butter chicken is good yard stick for a restaurant and this is spot on. I’ve been lucky enough to travel to India a couple of times and I know a decent curry when I eat it. Spice levels are a smidge higher, the kadai for example was medium spicy I’d say but totally delicious”

“Recently, myself and two friends had the pleasure of dining at Maison. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome and at home by the very friendly hosts. The menu tasting was a great way to experience the chef's skills and food flare. Maison had to offer. We were spoiled with a variety of delicious dishes that were cooked to perfection. The flavours were incredible and the presentation was exquisite. The highlight of the meal was the chicken. It was cooked to perfection and was the best we had ever had. The desserts were also a highlight, with a range of flavours, colours and delightful surprises. I have Coeliac (gluten free), and the chef was more than happy to accommodate my dietary requirements. He even went above and beyond, making "the best" gluten free bread just for me. This was a really nice touch and made me feel very special. Overall, our experience at Maison was fantastic. The food was outstanding and the hosts were very friendly. The price was also worth it for the quality of the food and service we received. I would highly recommend Maison to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Thank you again and look forward to dining with you again in the coming months. Top tip - book as soon as dates are released. Update 5 September 2024. Still just as amazing and every aspect was perfect.”

“From entering the restaurant to leaving everything was perfect. The service was first class, friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. The food was superb. The pilau rice was proper pilau rice with infused spices instead of the usual steamed rice with dots of food colouring. The Gurkha curry was a delight with layer upon layer of spicy flavours. The highlight of the menu for me were the momo starters. A perfect marriage of spicy mince, delicately steamed dough and a spicy dip. We will return!”

“Went there for Sunday lunch. Good food, if a bit pricey. The serving staff were excellent but the wait for our main courses was too long. One minor complaint... Put pound signs against your prices or next time I'll try and pay in Rand or Roubles.”

The Hanger Free House

“Called in at The Hanger while walking in the area and looking for somewhere to stop in with our dogs Immediately upon arriving we were made to feel welcomed, reassured that our dogs (although a little mucky) were welcome, and shown to a seat in the bar area. Our drink orders were taken immediately and food menus supplied. The waitress was the perfect balance of attentive without being overbearing and seemed to know the menu very well, offering her recommendations when we were unsure. The food was absolutely incredible, both myself and my Mum had the soup of the day (nettle and potato) and I'd be hard pressed to think of a soup I've had out that's nicer. I then had the spectacular steak and ale pie, and chocolate mousse for dessert. Definitely worth calling in on the way past, and we will be coming again (even if it means travelling to do so)”

“Out of the way place, but so so pretty esp the beer garden. Went for the chalk water trout was not disappointed & will be coming back again soon!. Unfortunately, it was a Monday & service was quite slow, hence the 4 stars. I'm going to go for a weekend brunch next time in the near future to see if service is different. Cocktails were great, too!. Would recommend & will go again. TO ADD been a few times since my initial review. They're recruiting if anyone's looking for a job. There were more staff, hence my rating going from 4-5. The food is delicious & I'm trying to work myself through it all. I had the venison pie of the day from the special's menu. Baking hot wholesome food just as I like it!. Great job guy's, be seeing you again soon!. Thank you 😊”

“We stopped for lunch in this pleasant village from our walk of the local hills. A muddy day but staff were ok with us keeping our boots on! Large bar with two adjacent dining rooms and lots of original features. Just two cask ales on offer the day we visited...both sampled and were in excellent condition and well served by friendly staff. Food was excellent and delivered promptly. Prices typical of the area. Worth coming back ... Perhaps when it's less muddy.”

“***This is just an amendment to state that a member of staff, Roy, has a great sense of humour, has excellent customer service skills and is efficient. I do hope that one of his managers sees this review as the work that he does is worthy of praise. The members of staff all appear to work hard, but it is mostly Roy who is at the till when we attend Country Market.*** Although this was not our first time at the Market, I can state with 100% certainty that we shall return because of the high standard of customer service, the range of items and the fact that the place is always very clean. We recently shopped here again, namely in March 2023. There are so many wonderful things to see and appreciate, such as the high-quality fruits and vegetables, the wonderful variety of cheeses, a lovely cooking section and items for gardening. The Aquatics section was amazing (Maidenhead Aquatics). Some of the fish were absolutely captivating. The members of staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. I really enjoyed watching the Mbu Pufferfish. One could easily spend hours just watching the fish. The area is usually extremely clean and properly maintained. The Short Tail Dragon Eyes Fish were absolutely stunning to watch and the coral selection was beautiful. If one does not like crowds very much, it is prudent to attend during the week, especially if one wants to look at the fish. Many people prefer to look at this section when the place is not overly crowded and there is not the constant distraction of other people. It would be quite easy to spend hours watching the fish!!! I also like the fact that members of staff do not follow customers around, asking lots of questions. When approached, however, the members of staff give high-quality advice. We have never encountered a rude member of staff at this place. They always seem to be doing something constructive and provide excellent advice. Thank you for all of your exceptionally hard work. It is very much appreciated.”

The Anchor Inn

“We had an absolutely delicious meal at The Anchor. The waitresses were completely charming and fun and the food (even though my friend's first choice wasn't available) was really, really yummy! The ambience was great and it was nice to see a busy, buzzing pub. I will definitely be back in the New Year with my husband. It was also a bit of a trip down memory lane, as I worked in the kitchen here back in the early 80's!!”
