Had an excellent evening meal here last week. While the food wasn’t Michelin quality, when added to the lively ambiance, super friendly staff, open fire and the feel of a genuine old-style community pub (a lot easier said than done) this is a winner. This part of the New Forest is blessed with decent pubs (like the New Forest Inn) but the Trusty Servant is up there with the best of them. Be careful with parking as it is easy to block a gate or driveway in the pitch darkness that descends on England by four in the afternoon at this time of year. Place is chilled.

Lovely, warm and friendly historic pub in the New Forest. We had Sunday lunch here a couple of weeks ago and while the portions were generous and the vegetables, Yorkshire Pudding and roast spuds were delicious, the meat (both the turkey and the beef) was overcooked and reminiscent of school dinner roasts. Service was excellent though. Hopefully you can do something about the meat so it's better the next time we come. Thank you!

Lovely pub/eatery set in the heart of the New Forest just on the outskirts of Lyndhurst. Food was delicious and reasonably well priced. The staff were excellent, personable, efficient and cheerful. We will certainly be returning. Highly rated.

Lovely food and service but felt a bit cramped. Totally understand the more table the more money they can make, but i felt there could be a bit more room between tables. My father had to move the table to be able to get out as there was a chair touching his.

Haven't visited for a while until recently, nice to see it's still popular. Personally we thought the food wasn't quite as nice as previously, but by no means bad. The portion sizes are still good, we had 3 courses each and overall was good value for money. Staff are friendly, nice atmosphere. Good to support a local business

Absolutely LOVED this place. The other reviews certainly didn't lie. Outside of Italy it was the best Carbonara I have eaten. I would definitely recommend to any pasta and pizza fan!

We have been coming here for the best part of 25 years now and is and has always been one of our go to restaurants. Last night 4 of us visited, the place was rammed as usual but our table was waiting for us. The menu is traditional with many items on it having been on there for the past 25 years but that is no bad thing. A decent sized menu with many main courses and separate pasta and pizza sections but it’s the specials that are always worth trying. Last night it was a starter of crostini with crab, chilli and lemon as a starter followed by sea bream with a bed tomatoes, olives and peppers and side veggies. Both were magnificent, stunning flavours and good fresh fish. I was pretty full but the desserts are a must here so the white chocolate praline with caramelised pecans and crème anglais was a no brainer and wow I loved it. Great place, friendly staff and always good service, despite me going home and complaining about how stuffed I was !!!

Visited Limewood for a glorious afternoon tea. The sandwiches & cakes were amazing. The staff were so friendly and the service was top notch. There was plenty for two but always more is available. The surroundings and atmosphere was lovely.

We had an absolutely fabulous stay at Lime Wood enjoying a dinner, bed and breakfast and additionally a mud bath treatment. Whilst the mud bath experience was mildly disappointing the rest of our time at the hotel was utterly sublime. Warm, friendly, slick service, gorgeous rooms, excellent facilities, and probably the nicest meal my wife and I have ever had. We hated to leave and would highly recommend a visit to this gem of a place in the majestic new forest.

Just went to have a drink and look around. Staff all so amazingly helpful and pleasant with nothing too much trouble. The duty manager showed us a range of beautifully appointed rooms. Also the spa staff similarly showed us all that they had to offer. Cocktails lovely too

There is a reason the Lime Wood is a 5* hotel as the service, rooms, food, staff, spa, location, and everything else that comes with it are top-notch. The luxury of prestine service in a superb setting without being pretentious with it. The dress code is relaxed and the added bonus of a luxury spa on site for various treatments.

Had a wonderful lunch, bot the set menu and a la carte were very reasonably priced. Tell me where else you can get excellent restaurant food 3 courses for £28??? 2 for £24. They don't spank you with the wine list either. They were very helpful explaining dishes on the menu and all of our party of 5 had an excellent meal. This is cheaper than most pubs locally and a lot better food! Come on locals and visitors, you need to use this place

A lovely evening. Staff were attentive, food was amazing and the ambience was relaxed. My birthday party of 6 had the 3-course set menu which was delicious, plenty of high quality choices and all home cooked. Paid extra for birthday cake which was home made with the finest ingredients. Highly recommended.

Had a really relaxing night's stay before embarking on our cruise. Dinner & then breakfast the following morning were fabulous! Everything was home made, fresh & cooked to perfection! We were made to feel so welcome. A great start to our holiday; would highly recommend!

Four friends and I had the most wonderful meal here this evening. Each dish was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. Service was excellent and attentive. I highly recommend Le Chateau Cadnam.

Our first visit was a delight! Just stumbled on the Rockingham as a half way point to meet friends and we had a great time. Really super lunch with fabulous food and very relaxed which we truly enjoyed. And then a very relaxed amble along the tracks beind the restaurant ... wonderful. Until next time, thank you all.

We went to The Rockingham Arms after seeing a post on instagram, the Roast dinner was in my husbands words “the best ever” (no offence taken!). I will agree it was superb!

Fantastic ploughman’s, the pork pie is hands down best I’ve ever had 😋 huge portions 😳 lovely friendly staff, super dog friendly, fantastic pit stop, tempted to book the shepherds hut so I can ditch the car on the next visit 🍻

This place is ALWAYS busy and it’s easy to see why. Food wise, they only serve ploughman’s. But if you’re going to do one thing - then you do it really well! Lovely homemade pickle, dressing, pickled onion and coleslaw. Delish ham, pork pies and sausage rolls. Lots of beers and lagers on tap. Interesting Gins like mermaid gin. I believe they try to source everything locally and you can taste the quality. The perfect pub to walk through the new forest and enjoy a pint afterwards.

Very atmospheric pub at the end of the road. Good selection of beers, and knowledgeable staff that can give beer advice. Sheds in the garden may need improving as they are downgrading the view of the pub from this perspective. Beer in the garden still tastes the same though. 😉

Lovely pub. On edge of New Forest. Very Close to good walking. Real Ales and ploughman speciality. Plates could have been bigger for the lovely food served. That is the only criticism- otherwise a lovely experience. Recommended.

If you're looking for a gastronomic treat in the middle of the New Forest, then look no further than Les Mirabelles. Unassuming from the outside, the interior is very smart and the food really superb, as is the friendly service. The lunchtime deal of £24.50 for two courses and £27.50 for three courses is fabulous value and not to be missed. Definitely go for three courses at this price. Portion sizes are excellent, too. If you're not familiar with the area, then take extra time to find it as it is well tucked away. Well worth a visit.

Wow. Had never been before and went off a trusted friend's recommendation. We had the most lovely evening. They were so accommodating of the fact im in a wheelchair; the restaurant is accessible (however the bathrooms are a little trickier! Thankfully I can walk a little though so it was no issue) My first impression was how homely and welcoming the place was. Then I noticed the cleanliness! Everything was immaculate and looked brand new! We were greeted in and welcomed warmly. The ambience was perfect and the background music was beautiful. Each course came out and was absolutely superb. The starters were actually some of the best food I've ever eaten - we had scallops, duck mousse and the snails - all perfectly cooked and seasoned with the perfect accompaniments. As we sat, enjoying our meal, the restaurant busied and the staff gave the same amount of warmth and service to everyone - greeting many customers like old friends (we assume this means they get a lot of repeat customers!) My husband ordered the cheese board and we were delighted when an entire platter, with an array of cheese was brought out. The waiter asked my husband his taste in cheese and then proceeded to recommend cheeses he thought would be right. He went through the board with such knowledge of the various cheeses and was spot on with every single one he suggested: my husband loved them all! The bathrooms were the cleanest public bathrooms I've ever been in! And this is gonna sound absolutely crazy but it's the first toilet I've ever been to that has really decent toilet roll!! I've stayed in 5 star hotels around the world and never rate the toilet roll but for some of us, well, it's important OK!! There was no pretentiousness and people were dressed in an array of clothing - from smart casual, to a little dressier; so you only need dress up if you feel you want to (we did!) The bill, although a little eye watering, was worth the price completely. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. The portions sizes were more generous than we had expected and we left after 3 courses from their set menu feeling full and very happy! We will 100% be back and highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys fine dining, in comfortable surroundings with all the warmth and personality that you'd expect from an independent family run business.

This restaurant became a favourite of ours since our first visit in 2015. It's our 'go to' when we have family and friends visiting us, many of whom now insist on it being an integral part of their stay. The restaurant is always atmospheric with laughter and chatter but is not overbearingly noisy. The food is consistently excellent and on our recent visit on 5th October the lamb rump with port and blackcurrant sauce was described as absolutely exquisite by its recipient and probably the best lamb rump she had ever tasted. The steak and fish dishes were as great as ever and the desserts are just as super with the perennial favourites of cherry and armagnac rice pudding and nougat ice cream simply too good to avoid. The wines to complement your meal are delightful and the service is both helpful and efficient. Very highly recommended and the set lunch menu is excellent value.

Popped in for family lunch, good value French food, attentive staff, and great view across the green. If you like cheese they have an impressive choice.

Overall fantastic experience! The food was amazing, loved how they focus on sustainability and locally sourced ingredients. I particularly loved the gardens and decor. The staff made us feel very special as celebrated our engagement. Thank you for everything, I could not recommend the Pig in the forest enough!

Great restaurant with food sourced from within 25 miles. Lots of wine available and also beer and cocktail menus. The staff are very attentive and service is excellent. It gets very busy and bookings are essential. The only drawback is the restaurant area gets very loud due to being in an old orangery, making it difficult to hear when it's busy with large groups. But there are quieter areas which could be requested.

We have just returned from a fabulous weekend in the new forest! Managed to secure a room here 5 days prior to our arrival with breakfast included. We brought our dog along and let the hotel know. On arrival they had left biscuits and poo bags in the room which I thought was such a lovely gesture. Rooms were SO clean and warm which was lovely to come back to after our 9 mile walk! Special thank you to the lovely cleaner who left the biscuits and the lovely lady who was serving our breakfast this morning - the service was brilliant and food was delicious! We will be back in the summer ☀️

Me and some family were in the New Forest and thought we'd go for a drive and stop somewhere for a drink. Very happy to have stopped here. Walking in to this traditional style pub, you're met with county aesthetics & decor, and the comforting smell of woody smoke from the fireplace. Along with a comparatively modern conservatory like dining area at the back. Sadly, we didn't dine here, accept for a few bowls of golden, crispy, fluffy chips. There is a great selection of drinks available. I went for a pint of Exmoor Gold. The beer was definitely well kept and conditioned, served at the right temperature. Amelia was a delightful, attentive and knowledgeable host. I enjoyed talking with her about the pub and the beers. She promoted the other ales available, graciously letting us sample them. I have to mention the garden. Probably one of, if not, the nicest pub gardens i have been in. I'm sure I will be back again in the future. Would love to stay and experience their accommodation. To me, this gorgeous country pub, perfectly encapsulates the New Forest.

First ever visit to the New Forest Inn and we really enjoyed it. Nicely situated on the outskirts of Lyndhurst. It's a cosy hostelry with a lovely fire going which adds to the atmosphere. The food was excellent, well presented and delicious. The staff were most friendly and helpful. Thumbs up to Amelia for her great customer service.

Very happy and cheerful staff, I was heartily welcomed, even though I hadn't booked. Also the staff went out of their way to ensure I wanted. Right now the meal, it was exceptionally presented and cheerfully delivered, at 1st I thought the fish was over cooked but the crispy battered and the soft white fish told me it was perfect, all the staff were great and I will definitely pay them another visit. Thank you

A very pleasant lunch, food quality was excellent, pork T bone was amazing, the recipient of the burger said "one of the best in a long time",and the starter was a great size for a small appetite

Today we went on the new forest open top bus tour and planned to stop by the green dragon for lunch. I enjoyed a refreshing pint of the swordfish ale and my fiancée had a hot chocolate, which she said was one of the best hot chocolates she's had! I had the burger and fries and my fiancée had the ham, egg and chips. We finished our meal with sticky toffee puddings and these were also very tasty, the puddings were served with salted caramel ice cream which went perfectly with the pudding. Everything was perfect, we especially enjoyed the chips which came with the ham, they were very tasty and cooked perfectly. We shall recommend the green dragon to friends and family when they visit the new forest, we shall return!

Went there for Sunday lunch after booking a table for 12 pm. At the time of booking, I advised the pub of taking a dog. Decided to try the chestnut, pumpkin and seed roast with seasonal vegetables and gravy. Asked if we could have a Yorkshire pudding too. Drink was 1/2 pint of orange juice and lemonade. The seed roast was very tasty. Booking a table is recommended. Would recommend.
