Have visited The Lion a number of times for both food and casual drinks and had a great experience every time. The food is all freshly cooked, generous portions and very tasty! I often struggle to get through 3 courses but very worth it! Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

A great atmosphere for lunch with choices to sit outside or in (several rooms to choose from). Good selection of dishes. The steak in my baguette was a wonderful rare just as I had requested. Others with me also complimentary on the food they ordered. For a large party we were served remarkably quickly, too. Fair prices for the quality, too. Great service topped it off. Recommended.

Great pub and restaurant run by local people. Lovely setting on the edge of the village with plenty of parking and courtyard and garden eating spaces for when the sun comes out. Lovely bar area with an open fire. Great food and choices on the menu for adults and 'cubs'. We loved the fish and chip lunch at 2 for £20 on Friday which comes with mushy or garden peas. Dog friendly. We also had a large family Christmas Sunday lunch there in the restaurant and the food and service was excellent. Would recommend to everyone looking for a village pub with good food and service at decent prices.

Lovely meal, apart from running out of Yorkshires, missing veg and an error on the desert menu, the roast beef was delicious. Will definitely be returning.

Stopped here with friends for a bit of Sunday lunch,from arriving made to feel very welcome by all staff especially the girl behind the bar who was happy with a great sense of humour. Food was absolutely fantastic in every way couldn’t fault the Sunday roasts here! We had a lamb shank a beef a belly pork and a hunters chicken no complaints all round. Would definitely recommend and return when in the area

Brilliant stuff, so so friendly the landlord is barking such a character. Made us really welcome. The locals are supporting him. Foods very good l had the pasta compliments to the chef. Seats outside or very private garden. Landlord has a great repotoire of clean jokes enough to keep up amused. Love it and supporting when I can

Have known of this little gem for a number of years but as we're not local to the town, we haven't had the opportunity to eat here until now. Such a quirky little restaurant, split out on two levels. Food was absolutely fantastic (we had one of the set menus, starter sharing platter, four main dishes and a dessert each) plenty to feed us both with a little left over. One thing which added to the quirkiness, was being handed a pint glass of water (when asking if we could have some water at the table) 🤭. Certainly didn't detract from what was a thoroughly enjoyable meal.

We were greeted with a friendly welcome and so pleased with the choice on the menu. We selected the mixed starter and 2 mains which we shared. The food was delicious and authentic so we were very satisfied. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and we'll definitely be back.

Myself and friend visited Siam Orchid last night and I can't say enough good about it. It is small but cosy. Warm and inviting. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food was top notch full of flavour. The service was quick but you could tell a lot of care had gone into the food. Very reasonably price too. Will definitely be returning. Second time visiting tonight... Food was amazing as before. However service was more 3 star than 5. The waiter did not know how to pronounce the menu options, was brought out green Thai curry instead of red and also not given the option to order rice which ideally should have been offered once we have the order of a curry. Brought coconut rice before being given an option to begin with. Apart from that, lovely atmosphere and nice background music. A very intimate and perfect place for a romantic date. Will be returning.

Friendly owners that explained to us when we came in they were a little short handed. We appreciated knowing up front and were fine with it. We had a beer and great conversation with a gentleman cyclist. The food was fantastic!

Got here too late to try the food (kitchen closes at 3pm on a Sunday) decent beer tho, Adnam’s Ghost Ship on tap. Lovely beer garden and some decent 80s hair rock pumping out of the speakers, RAD 🤘

It was my first time visiting the Royal Oak. I booked a table for 10 for my wife's birthday. I spoke to the lovely lady on the phone about the chef making my wife a birthday cake. They couldn't be more accommodating, saying they'll make her favourite one. The meal was absolutely outstanding and the service matched. I will absolutely returning as the Guinness was the best I've had around also. Super service, super drink and super food. I really recommend

I have been coming to this pub for a good 5-6 years now it has been local to my area and everyone that I have brought for a quality time has said what a beautiful place, surrounded by nature, in a quiet village on the outskirts of Andover. The Owners are ever so friendly and welcome to anyone. Would recommend 100% to any person.

Took a good friend to lunch at this lovely pub. Exceptional food, atmosphere and a log fire which a bonus on this dull and rainy day. She is a coeliac which limits her choices, but at the Oak she had plenty of options. Would recommend a visit. We had a main course and dessert with hot chocolate all of which was superb.

Beautiful country pub. Staff were lovely and saw to all our needs. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating area. Field to walk your dogs. Also if you come out of the pub and turn right, continue all the way down that road instead of going left at the bend go straight on for about half a mile to a mile roughly and on the right or left is a woodland area you can go for a nice little walk. Dont get lost :)

Just a last minute decision to pop in for food and drink. Lovely welcome and great eye contact on arrival. We wandered round looking at variety of pictures on the many walls, while waiting for food. Were encouraged to explore and explained by Tracey about different events that take place. Overall a comfortable visit , good service, nice atmosphere and very pleasant, helped by a knowledgeable staff member Tracey . Thanks Janey

Popped in for dinner as we passed it while away for a few days and glad we did. Tracy checked us in who was welcoming, friendly and showed us to our table. We sat in the dog friendly area as we had our rescue dog Ruby with us, they even serve up a little furry friends menu. Massive open fire which i bet is just amazing as the weather gets cooler. Although in a dog friendly area, we didn't feel separated from the rest of the pub either, The food and service were amazing thank you. They also have a little snug area for just drinks and somewhere to relax after your meal. Very cosy pub and 100% recommended if you are in the area. Without doubt the best roast pork dinner I have had in my 63 years on this earth. The pork just melted in your mouth. Lots of roast potatoes. Glazed carrots , parsnips , broccoli, lovely Yorkshire pudding, pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese and gravy. So filling only had room for one pint of hobgoblin and no room for desserts which also all sounded so yummy. Lovely happy friendly staff made Sunday lunch so enjoyable. Highly recommend plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. Lots of parking including disabled spots available. Would definitely go again.

Great ambience, nice pub. Staff were attentive. Vegetables were a bit al dente, but overall quality was 7/10. Nice touch with the apple pie inside the Yorkshire pudding.

Often eat here with a friend, nice place to relax. Today (13/2/25) was no exception. Lovely food, well cooked and very tasty. The bar staff were top notch, excellent service. A very enjoyable lunch. We'll be back soon.

Great place for supper, especially burgers were you can choose any 3 sides. As always the desserts were amazing!

First time visit lovely pub right on the anton river. Friendly staff. Lovely food and at a good price highly recommend

Very nice place (and I mean that). Trouble is, making and serving coffee from coffee machines takes ages, especially when the server also has to take it to the table as well. Other customers have to wait for too long and I saw some walk out. In my opinion it is a false economy to believe that coffee in a pub is more important than alcohol sales. That is based completely upon my observations this afternoon.

Lovely garden, usually friendly staff (but not always, there's quite a high turnover, even for a bar), beer line always kept fresh. Every bit of food I've had here (on 3 occasions has been bad but for drinks it's great.

A really lovely pub on the river with a fair bit going for it. Food is decent, but can be a bit hit and miss sometimes. Good selection of drinks available and some decent specials. Can be a little noisy sometimes, but on the whole a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. The view of the river, the lovely design of the pub and the friendly service are definitely top notch.

The food was unbelievably delicious and the lemonade tasted like they made it themselves The gents toilet was stinky but the chairs were clean and also very very very very comfortable There was also the sculpture you can see in this table One side of the restaurant was very loud and the other side was quiet but the side was half forgotten The tables were a bit old but all is good 0 to 10 for the kids ( all dishes) 0 to 20 for adults ( all dishes). Ps: i just sat on the chair and just used the table They even provide good stuff The staff is very friendly

We live in North Yorkshire & travel to Andover to see our daughter & her family. The travel lodge is convenient. We chose to eat at the C.B, originally for convenience. However it’s now a part of our booking process. The food is always hot & tasty & superior to any other pub that we’ve used over the years in Andover. (I assume that you’re part of a chain, the quality says otherwise) We have had great servers. From meeting & greeting Tracy to our table server, 14/02 Lydia & 15/02 Elaine. Generally all staff are welcoming and helpful. They just look after you.😊 The food is great, the drinks menu caters for all. The prices are reasonable. All in all, a very positive experience. Definitely worth a visit & our son in law tells us the Sunday roast is great too….maybe we’ll get to sample that one day.

We had very nice mid-week meals here. The atmosphere was nice, not too busy, but not quiet or stale and the setting was all very nice, clean and tables available. We had the whitebait and sticky chicken starters, with a scampi and pie and mash for main. We were served by Lydia, who was confident, polite, knowledgeable and very attentive. She was very helpful, making our choices and decisions easy. The food was all very nice, less the mash potato, which looked like it had been sitting a while in a pot or under a heat lamp, but I was hungry and couldn't be bothered with sending it back and waiting for another meal, and my colleague was already eating too. It was a very nice visit and I'd certainly go again.
