“I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Old House at Home in Romsey, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The rustic charm of the place, combined with its modern touches, made for a perfect setting. The menu offered a delightful array of dishes, each more tempting than the last. I opted for the roast lamb, which was cooked to perfection – tender, flavourful, and accompanied by the most delicious gravy. My partner chose the fish and chips, and it was hands down the best we’ve ever had. The portions were generous, and the presentation was top-notch. What truly set this place apart, though, was the exceptional service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. They even took the time to chat with us about the history of the pub, which added a lovely personal touch to our visit. To top it all off, the dessert menu was a dream. We shared a sticky toffee pudding that was simply divine – the perfect end to a fantastic meal. If you’re in Romsey and looking for a place with great food, wonderful service, and a charming atmosphere, look no further than The Old House at Home. We’ll definitely be back!”

“What a super pub, very modern with all amenities. Our room had a lovely comfortable bed, shower room, with no leaks,as is the usual case. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant, My belly pork was very tasty with plenty of veg. Lastly the car park had plenty of spaces for guests. Many thanks”

“Well what can I say, absolutely perfect service and amazing food from the newly refurbished Hunter Inn! The pub in its old form with the previous owners was stuck in the past and very dated. The new owners have given it a fantastic new face and really warm and welcoming feel. I went this evening with my family and we were greeted by one of the owners and shown to our table really quickly and really politely. My daughter has a nasty food allergy and they were so accommodating of this and did all they could to make sure it was clear what items were suitable or they could adapt! The food was amazing, really tasty and really good portions. It was clear that The Hunters has stuck to their word on the menu and used local, good quality food! There was a short wait for the food, but long enough it was clearly cooked fresh and not a microwave surprise. My daughter and her allergy was well catered for as stated and she absolutely loved her food and the decor (we played eye spy!) The price was very good for the quality of the food we had. Yes other chain pubs might be cheaper but that's because it's all frozen junk with no effort. All the food we had was clearly fresh and the cooks definitely put the effort in and gave us a great meal. We did note that along with looking after our allergy needs they had lots of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. The Hunters has a great atmosphere, great refurbishment and its clear the owners are really looking to be part of the community and not just another chain drinking hole. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED!”

“Didn’t start well had to wait 15 mins for drinks, had to reorder as our drinks order had been lost. Got to be really honest service was a little slow for a Tuesday night. Yes the service was slow but no means poor, very few staff who were over whelmed for a Tuesdays bar and restaurant was packed out. Katherine the waitress was a very professional and calm, she could only work as quick as she could, and the same could be said of one on the bar and the another chap waiting on tables. Food was excellent and with one more member of staff things would have been better for all. Lovely place great decor and as for the vents toilets amazing. It was nice to see a good vegetarian choice with the added extra of adding a meat choice to it. Not seen this before. I love my veg and also a big meat eater and often when dinning out ask if I can have ham, sausage or other meats to add to a vegetarian meal as sometimes these are a better choice. Nice touch.”

“Came here with a friend for a celebratory meal / drink. The waiter we had was funny but a little too enthusiastic it seemed fake, he also leaned over my shoulder without saying anything to take something from the table which I found quite unprofessional. The food took a while to come out, was hot and tasty. The cheese garlic bread is SO GOOD! The atmosphere was quiet which was nice, cute decor too. You could smell the Indian nextdoor pretty much throughout the resturant. They do put a service charge at the end fyi. 50/50 on returning.”

“Lovely pub, full of atmosphere and really old (grade 2 listed with parts from 16th century) we had perfectly cooked sirloin steaks. Ladies in heels beware, the paving between the car park and entrance has some missing pointing with deep gaps, enough to either wreck your shoes or test your ability to resist gravity if it's dark or you aren't watching where you walk. Lovely pub, masses of parking although no disabled parking bays to be found (although there may be one which is almost faded out so hard to be sure) which is a shame and they could certainly add a couple more as if you are disabled the walk across the car park would be too far for most.”
