“My daughter, small pup and I were warmly welcomed and had a lovely mid week meal by the fire. We shared the rack of lamb with dauphinois potatoes l, greens and a rich, sticky gravy. Sublime. We were both beaten by the hazelnut, chocolate mousse which was lovely and rich. Highly recommend and book at weekends or you will never get in.”

“Great to see the Bowman open and fully functional once again. Fantastic friendly and attentive staff. Clutter free and now very clean. Improved range of beers particularly some from the Flower Pots. Outstanding improvements across the board except the food. Early days but there are no specials on the board, always a highlight of the old regime. The base menu is limited and similar to many average pubs put pricing is on the high side. I went for the safe option of a burger and chips £17. Dry and limited in flavour. Disappointing. I love the Bowman and will return. I won’t try the burger again but will try to find something that appeals. I hope they address the food issue otherwise it will simply be a stop off on a walk. That would be a shame.”

“One of our favourites, this place never fails to deliver an all round excellent experience. With a cosy atmosphere, helpful & friendly staff, and last but not least authentic tasty food. I find it difficult after visiting here many times (and trying various different items on the menu) not to order the halloumi fries as a starter, and the Calabrese pizza as main; both are very good. Pizza is my favourite food, and this one ranks in my top 3 I've ordered from any restaurant, the chicken, pepperoni and spicy sausage are a perfect combination (ask for chilli as an additional topping if you want an extra little 'kick'). Portion sizes are generally very good for most dishes. As for desserts the options vary every time (listed on a small chalk board placed on your table), but the cheesecake is always very good, especially if it's the biscoff one! Thank you for a great experience every time!”

Proper straightforward tasty Sunday roasts for most of us….. very tasty and very generous helpings… piping hot and plenty of gravy. Choice of sweets and coffees to finish off.
