I stopped at dill on a Saturday afternoon with some friends for lunch and a catch up. It’s in a great position in central Alton and is in a beautiful old character building. It was bright, modern and clean inside, and there were plenty of tables - which is good as it’s a popular place. The menu has plenty of options and it was difficult to choose what I fancied as it all sounded so good! I settled on their chicken burger which came with fries and coleslaw. It was absolutely delicious, and the portion was very generous too. The service was friendly and efficient, and overall we had a fantastic lunch. I will definitely return again when visiting Alton, and I would highly recommend if you’re looking for somewhere nice for breakfast or lunch.

The food was enjoyable and fresh, which is always a plus. Although it took about 25-30 minutes for a simple dish to arrive, the quality made it worth the wait. It was nice to see the ladies at the reception handling greeting and serving duties, as well as taking orders at the counter in a well-coordinated manner. I encountered two ladies, and while one, Trisha, was genuinely kind, friendly, and full of happiness, the other seemed to be having a challenging day and wasn't as pleasant to interact with. Understandably, we all have our off moments. Overall it was a nice first experience.

I had a really enjoyable brunch/lunch at Dill - great food, polite staff and a lovely, chilled atmosphere. I highly recommend the ham hock hash! 🤩

What a little gem in Alton! We had a fantastic time visiting dill. We were very late to our reservation due to traffic and the staff were very understanding, which we appreciated. The atmosphere was very relaxing. We had the tomato and mozzarella sourdough special, the hog father (pork belly burger) special and the sweet corn fritters. We very much enjoyed everything!

Delicious food, good menu choices and great cocktails. Staff were friendly and attentive. Loved how the water came out in tequila bottles!

Amazing food and service. Maisie our waitress is wonderful and not at all my daughter so I might be biased. I had the fries and tacos and it was all delicious. Highly recommend the ‘zombie’ cocktail.

Carlie who served us was great and attentive, love the decoration, food was really nice. We had the soft tacos, quesadillas, and a burrito between us and all were well made.

Really enjoyed the food and friendly, cheerful service. Special shouts to our waiter, Maisie and the supervisor Caitlin. I would also compliment the chef by name but I don’t know it! My naked cauliflower burrito was scrumptious.

Rory and Rae provided great service and were extremely friendly. The ribs were absolutely delectable and would love to have them again. Both the service and the food could not be better and will be highly recommending this pub to my friends and family. Please if you have the chance come to this pub

We had our company Christmas meal at the White Hart last night, 24 people. The food was incredible and we didn't have to wait long for them to serve everyone together. The staff were all so friendly and attentive, making sure everyone was ok for drinks between courses and anything else we might need. The organisation before the night was fantastic, great communication and very friendly - Thank you Stephanie!

Went there for Sunday lunch. Good food, if a bit pricey. The serving staff were excellent but the wait for our main courses was too long. One minor complaint... Put pound signs against your prices or next time I'll try and pay in Rand or Roubles.

Enjoyed lunch yesterday. Fantastic food. Best fish and chips ever ! Fresh , hot and very tasty. Lovely warm and cosy with the log fire on. Great to sit in there after a walk in the village. Friendly bar staff. Excellent service. Must visit again soon.

Being a burger snob and eating good and bad ones in quite a few places, I had to try out this new place in Alton. I'm glad to say, it's a really good burger! Reminded me of Burgermeister in Berlin, which is a good thing. Fries could have been more crispy but some don't like them as crunchy as I do, so I'll make sure to ask next time to fry them a bit more. I can't wait to try the one with peanut butter! A decent burger place in Alton... Finally!

My wife and I have been here several times now and thought it was high time to leave a review. The burgers are absolutely delicious and possibly the best I've ever had. The guys are friendly and polite, even when very busy. I really hope they stick around for a long time to come. Yummy...

Didn't even realise this place was here! Son wanted burgers for his birthday and when we googled Smash brothers came up. So glad it did, burgers were delicious, fries and Parmsan garlic fries we lovely! We will definitely be ordering from here again, everyone has already decided what they will be trying next time.

Hands down one of the best burgers I ever had. Would put to shame the vast majority of ‘quality burger’ spots London has to offer. Ordered the double Oklahoma which comes with American cheese, fried onion and American mustard. Absolute flavour bomb. Very reasonably priced as well

If you are thinking about eating here consider this your sign to book and go immediately! Tonight my husband, daughter and I visited for my birthday dinner and it did not disappoint! We shared a pork belly and a halloumi starter. Now when I tell you the pork belly was one of the most amazing things I've eaten that's the understatement of the century it was insanely good! The halloumi was good too but the pork belly was just sheer perfection! Having finished our starters we were excited for our main course. My husband had the full rack of ribs and sweet potato fries, I had the half rack of ribs and truffle and parmigiana chips and my daughter had the popcorn chicken and chips (apologies for the half eaten meals pics for the mains but it looked so good we tucked in straight away!). The meat melted off the ribs and tasted soooooo good. My daughter and I finally finished off sharing a sticky toffee pudding and ice cream which was also divine. We've decided that this will now be our go to for any birthday or big celebration! It's more expensive than your every day pub dinner but the food is of a completely different standard way above that of a pub and honestly was worth every single penny! Note to the chef thank you so much for the fantastic food! To the wonderful waitress who kindly poured my daughters lemonade in a gin glass with ice, Strawberries and lemon so it looked like my gin you are a gem. You were so kind and welcoming and are a credit to the restaurant. Heavens kitchen it was an absolute pleasure 🙏🏼 thank you so much and I look forward to our next visit already! Notes for anyone visiting - they have tables outside the back (which have umbrellas to provide shade) as well as inside. There isn't much off road parking opposite but there are plenty of car parks within a short walking distance of the restaurant. The staff were super accommodating for my 8 year old daughter and the kids Menu consists of 4 main options and puddings so plenty of choice although the starters or sides would also work if you wanted to create something different!

The steak I was served was literally the best I have ever eaten. As the Dutch saying goes, it was like an angel pissing on your tongue. Thank you Nick for this joyous moment.

From the appetizers to the desserts, each course was a delightful journey of taste. The ingredients were fresh and high-quality, and the presentation was as beautiful as the food was delicious. Overall, curry palaces Alton is a must-visit for anyone seeking a peaceful dining experience with outstanding service and food that will leave you craving more. We ordered a takeaway, so cannot comment about the restaurant, although my husband said that it had a good atmosphere and we should 'dine in'. The food was excellent, so we will. Discovered a real gem in Alton.

Decided to have a Sunday banquet £15.95 but as it was December they had the festive banquet @ £25.95 and they even offered it for 2 dine in customers. The restaurant look like a typical Indian, but don't let the fool you. The food was fresh and tasty, even though I did not manage to experience the smaller normal banquet, the Christmas one was very filling and provided many options. We even asked to have a doggy bag as could not finish it all. They also offer tribute nights, something I may go and re-visit. The restaurant manager gave us complimentary drinks after the meal. Definitely go and try the place out.

Had my first experience here Wednesday evening. What can I say, a very Warm welcome by the manager and his staff. Good was amazing. Very Reasonable too . Waiter didn’t rush us and came to check on each meal. Will definitely return again 10/10 for FOOD , 10/10 for SERVICE and finally 10/10 for CLEANLINESS

You couldn't do better for a superb and authentic English country pub. Exceptional atmosphere, friendly welcome, and beautifully-presented, delicious food. Well worth the short diversion off the beaten track.

We have visited the pub several times recently and each time have enjoyed a delicious meal and received great service. Each time the staff were attentive and checked we had everything we needed. The food service was great - taking the time I would expect for a freshly prepared meal. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming and the open fire lovely and warm. As a vegetarian I was pleased to be able to choose something different to the usual options offered in other pubs and restaurants. The puddings were delicious … hard to choose as they all sounded so good! The food was fantastic and we can’t wait to return again next. Whether you visit as a family or couple you will not be disappointed.

Just a wonderful place to be for a Sunday lunch - we were in the right hand side of the pub which was perfect. The choice of roasts was brilliant and you can have a duo or a trio as well as your favourite - our party had a mix of all the roasts and there was a great choice for kids too. Great beer and also a solid wine list.

A true olde world country pub that I and my husband love. We eat here quite regularly and often pop in for just a drink. We can’t fault it. Excellent food at reasonable prices, and friendly service. If you want to swap out any sides included in a main dish for an alternative, it’s never a problem. Always best to book in advance if you want to eat, as it can get very busy.

Cafe Nosh Bar is the best cafe spot ever! They never fail to impress. It’s such a lovely place, and I highly recommend it! I paid £38 for two people with 10%tip included.

Came in for hot chocolate with friends, stayed for the menu - great choice for brunch, the hot chocolates (brownie option) came with marshmallows and a very unhealthy amount of whipped cream, and the after eight ice cream was delish!! Gutted I'm not a local, it is a great, friendly place, with proper pizza oven, a little heated & covered terrace and a space showcasing and selling various local produce (including beautiful pottery and mouth watering chutney and honey jars). Not a place you can come out of disappointed!

My favourite place to get the most delicious chai and a fully loaded roll! The staff are great and always go above and beyond to cater for my son who is gluten free. My boys love the milkshakes and hot chocolates too!

We enjoyed a Truly Scrumptious Perfect Breakfast yesterday! Quick, effiicient, EXCEPTIONALLY YUMMY, and we were on a TIME CONSTRAINT. And there are unique Gift selections in this Restaurant, to add to the Convivial atmosphere, and delicious Nosh@

We visited for the first time as we were in the area and looking for a main meal. There wasn't many reviews on this pub so we took a punt. First thoughts were great choice of food on the menu, so many delicious meals to choose from and great selection for the kids. The food was fantastic! We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Also they had a bookshelf with games and colouring for the kids which is a great touch. At first we commented how nice it was to have fresh water put on the table without asking, however they added £3 onto the bill at the end for the water which is wrong, considering we didn't realise or get told this. That is the reason for the 4* and not 5. And also the fact dogs are allowed and a breed I am severely allergic to was sat on the table next to us, so we did have to hurry our food down to leave. Also we did say thank you and bye to the (what I assume is the landlady) and we were ignored.

We stopped for lunch in this pleasant village from our walk of the local hills. A muddy day but staff were ok with us keeping our boots on! Large bar with two adjacent dining rooms and lots of original features. Just two cask ales on offer the day we visited...both sampled and were in excellent condition and well served by friendly staff. Food was excellent and delivered promptly. Prices typical of the area. Worth coming back ... Perhaps when it's less muddy.

We held a wake here and were really impressed. The buffet food was lovely, everyone was very helpful and the venue was a great place for guests to relax and mingle. The pub garden was also lovely on a rare sunny day in March.

Had a great Sunday Roast here. My wife and I had the Nut Roast which was superb. Nice and moist etc. and the whole meal was very pleasant. Great friendly attentive staff all round too. Would happily return.

I recently went for dinner and will definitely go back again. They do the best mango chutney ever. I should've had it to take away for breakfast. 😊 The atmosphere was very good, soft music, soft lights, good decor, clean and with comfortable seats. The service was very good too, with a familiar touch. The food was excellent. Very tasty. Highly recommend: lamb biriani.

My wife and I visited this restaurant for the first time last night. The food was absolutely delicious, so fresh and full of flavour, and the service was excellent, really friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend. The best Indian food in Alton!

Fantastic authentic Indian food with a great atmosphere and attentive staff. The dishes that we has were absolutely delicious and a few of my clients were extremely impressed! This is certainly the best place for a decent Indian meal. Update 2/12/23 - Another exceptional meal at The Spice Bank in Alton. Brilliant service again and welcoming. 5 stars.
