Just finished a fantastic Sunday lunch here. We had the roast pork and the sausages & mash (on special). My Roast pork was one of the best I've ever had, (my only criticism is that there could have been more of it) the roast potatoes were lovely and crispy and fluffy inside, all accompanied with a superb veg selection of steamed savoy cabbage, carrot and swede mash, broccoli and red cabbage. The gravy that came with it seemed to be specifically pork gravy and was delicious. I asked for stuffing with the pork and extra gravy. Nothing was too much trouble and I will definitely be going back again even tho it's 25 minutes drive, it is well worth it. 5 stars without hesitation!

Limited menu but very good food. Delightful people. Very welcoming atmosphere. Popular lunch destination for locals and rightly so. Good value. Will go again. Soon.

Just Popped in for a quick snack like a sandwich or something with family but the menu looked so good we ended up having a fantastic Steak and chips, the home made pie was amazing, the home made shepherds pie was DeVine. Staff very friendly, good array of drinks , the pub is dog friendly and has a lovely atmosphere.

Just returned from a Sunday lunch meet up, catch up with friends. First time visiting the Fox inn definitely not the last … Friendly attentive staff, good atmosphere, reasonable priced, the food was absolutely delicious, fantastic !! Would definitely come back again.

We showed up without a booking, on a sunny Saturday when the kitchen was about to close. The staff could not have been more accommodating. The food came fast and was delicious. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely stunning makeover for a hidden gem! We are locals and visited a few years ago, and it was nothing compared to what it is now! The new huge expansion and development of a traditional country pub, but created for the modern demands of customer experience of great food and local produce, captured by natural beautiful surroundings is a 10 out 10! The staff were really knowledgeable and very helpful. The service was relaxed, and the new extension we sat in was really impressive, and the garden area was picture-perfect for anyone whether socially with family, or friends or romantically, this pub would suite anyone wanting to visit a real country pub tucked away off the beaten track. The menu offers up some mouth-watering delights, and they have specials every day and offer gluten-free options, which is clearly marked. The portions are very generous but plated up with care and foodie flare! We enjoyed every mouthful. It's dog friendly, with free ample parking, and I can imagine this pub will be a hot spot for locals and outside visitors for many years to come. Highly recommended!!! Come rain or shine. The food was absolutely delicious—well beyond my expectations! (The photo doesn’t do it justice.) The service was equally impressive, with attentive and friendly staff who made the experience even better. We’ll definitely be coming back and can’t wait to bring family and friends along!

Very welcoming staff, who were particularly great with our kids (5&8yrs). The food options were fabulous. All good, was delicious. Good selection of wines & beers. Board games available [Also, as we'd rung ahead to confirm, we were also able to stay overnight in our camper (big carpark & quiet throughout the night)]

Came in for a carvery and it was amazing!! staff were lovely place was really nice food was perfect it was hot well cooked and the selection of veg and extras was amazing couldn't fault it will definitely be coming back soon Thanks everyone x

I have visited The Forge a couple of times now and I am so glad of being introduced to this place! I am a big fan of roast dinners and The Forge have this every day of the week! The decor is beautiful, very Turkish inspired with the coloured glass and wood. Their new space is very light and spacious and the original space is lovely and warming. Plenty of seating and areas. Self service at the bar which is fine. You pay for your food then head up to the carvery. Queues can often be long so pick your day and time well and allow a bit of a wait if you go at peak times. The food is ample, the meat is perfectly done. The beef is so soft and falls off the joint. It's usually beef, gammon and turkey. Would love to see some lamb or pork on occasional days! Ample veg!! So much you are spoilt for choice! The plates are quite small so it always looks like your plates are overloaded but to get a choice of all the veg this is easily done. Gravy, perfect consistency. It is so nice to be able to come here with my little dog! This will always be my number one choice for a carvery for my whole family. Toilets are very big but cold. Access.. there are steps from the back which go down but at the front there aren't as many steps, so anyone that has access issues would be better coming through the front. Carpark is often over full. There are 2 little huts out the back and up the stairs for outside sitting/smoking area.

Had Sunday carvery here with 7 others today. Very busy and a long wait but food was very good. Apart from myself being a veggie. Meat free carvery was exactly that, no nut roast just given an empty plate at the meat section. Oh well, £4.00 cheaper I suppose. Would have been nice to have a veggie gravy but no, just 2 vats of beef gravy. Although vegetables were excellent. Oh. It was very busy so be warned, car park can be fun.

This is probably the best Carvery in the South, and we have been to a few. We attended the Wickham food festival 🥮 and this was just somewhere we found to eat. It's so lovely inside and has lovely decor. It's a pleasure to be here. It was Sunday and it was very busy. We could buy a drink 🍷 🍻 and wait 🫷 outside. Nice outside area and warm 🥵 enough to dine out. Very soon we had our table in a very nice place. The queue was very long and soon we were at the hotplate and you can go left or right to be served. The team are very professional and friendly, I feel that they have all been properly trained as all staff were very attentive.. 🎂🍪 are to die for, my next trip will be dessert only. Best to go in the week when it's quiet and more cost effective. After dinner 🍽️ you can go on the adult sized swing. Top marks for the Forge. You can get a massive takeaway to.

Great classic show today at The Hinton Arms: 1st September 24. Pub located on main road but nice and quiet/ cosy. Pub is a lovely country pub style, gorgeous flower displays. Very friendly staff. Highly Recommended. Classic Event 1st September: ----------------------------- Great atmosphere, great food, drinks, ice cream, live music, pub bar in marquee, lots of parking, toilets inside and portable loos provided for the event.

Could not fault our visit to the Hinton Arms today. All staff were very friendly, welcoming, attentive and professional. As for the food, there is a fantastic choice, every dish we saw coming out made our mouths water. We eventually settled for the venison rump and calves liver. Both dishes had very generous portions, and tasted fantastic, in fact the venison was the best I have tasted for quite a few years. Looking forward to going back and trying more dishes.

Food was amazing. Went there and ordered a burger with halloumi fries and I'm still talking about the size and quality of the food a year later. Atmosphere was amazing and the views and location are brilliant, Proper little country pub. Parking is plentiful and easy to get into and out of baring the road traffic. Loved my visit and cannot wait to return.

A great stay at this hotel , good was excellent and comparably priced, nothing too much to ask. Good choice for cooked good tasting good. Staff very helpful!

The tapas we had were tasty and reminded me of Spanish food. However, keep in mind that this isn't a Spanish restaurant but rather a restaurant with a Spanish-inspired menu. That said, the names of the dishes did create the expectation that we were going to have a 100% Spanish experience. Dog friendly, no issues eating with our cocker spaniel, and they even gave him a bowl with water that is a nice touch! The croquetas were quite good—I should have ordered one portion per person, honestly. All the dishes we tried were tasty. If you order gambas al ajillo, I recommend getting a portion of bread. The bread with the oil from the gambas is the best. They also have limited-availability products listed on a blackboard (in our case, it was some meat cuts, secreto, oysters), so there are other options if you’re looking for "bigger" portions or extra things that arent in the menu. If you need to estimate the cost, you’ll likely need around 2-3 tapas per person, as they are small dishes meant for sharing. Then, add drinks, dessert, etc. Parking isn’t hard—there are plenty of places with 2 hours free, as well as long-stay parking where you get 2 hours free and then start paying (£1 for 3 hours total). You can use RingGo for payment. As a plus, service charge is included in the prices, so what you see is what you pay.

Fantastic lunch with my son on Saturday! First visit and it won’t be the last. We drove for an hour to get there and we weren’t disappointed. Our waiter was amazing, friendly, and attentive. We had a lot of dishes and every one was so tasty we couldn’t decide which one we liked best! Can’t wait to go again! Highly recommend this great place. Well done and thank you to all the wonderful staff.

A fabulous hidden gem in central Winchester. The architecture has a wonderful ye olde England feel - lots of dark wood and leather, but at the same time light and airy spaces. The food was simply delicious. Top quality ingredients cooked to perfection. Well priced wines. Really pleasant staff who clearly want you to have a great experience. A top notch venue.

Went here with wife and a couple of friends. Food was lovely as was the wine. Cocktails were also good. We did however have a 45 minute wait for a table that was booked weeks in advance and the service while waiting was pretty poor, which did take the edge off the overall experience. Did add a couple of photos of the food but I'd already started eating before taking photos because we were that hungry from the wait 😂

Well where do I begin with our wonderful dinner? Beautiful food, the most delicious bottle of wine we've ever enjoyed, gorgeous, cosy surroundings, and friendly service from welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable staff. We were given a little anniversary surprise making our visit even more unforgettable. We shall be back.

This is a great pub to visit during the summer, when you can sit outside in the sun and enjoy the tranquility of the English countryside. The garden is pretty and nicely kept, and you can see the crystal clear river Itchen close by. Just beyond the pub garden is a really lovely walk over a bridge and along the river, where you can observe the beauty of nature. The staff here were helpful and accommodating. It's everything a country village pub should be.

We had a lovely lunch whilst on our cycle ride past this charming pub by the river. It is always very busy so I recommend booking a table in advance. Beautiful log fires to compliment the rural countryside decor. The food was beautifully presented and tasted lovely. My only criticism would be the quality of the side salad. It was very basic for the price point. The food portions are on the conservative size too. Otherwise I would recommend and return. Especially great in the summer where you can sit in their lovely garden

Beautiful old style pub. Great food. Brilliant service. Stunning location. I took my mother here for lunch. She has many happy childhood memories of this pub when some of her family owned the pub (she’s 85 years old). Charlie served us and was super friendly. He was more than happy to listen to my mother tell him about the pub from years ago. It really made her day. THANK YOU CHARLIE. You are credit to the pub. Definitely recommend this place.

Always go here for a local dog walk and then either beverages or a meal. It's always busy and always friendly. Good food and drink cozy atmosphere what more could you ask for with it's lovely surroundings.

We absolutely loved our Sunday roast at the townhouse today. Food has been consistently delicious every time we’ve visited. And the Madelines, oh my goodness!! Yum. Food is made with love for sure! Service was 10/10. it’s such a calm welcoming environment, highly recommend :)

Who knew?? The Town House provided the perfect end to an otherwise ordinary day. We were blown away by the delicious food, wine and wonderful service….all at a very reasonable price. If you’re in Alresford, you must go - it cheered me up no end!

WOW!!! I've only been living in Arlesford 6 years and only just found this wonderful hidden gem and I say hidden because the outside isn't screaming fantastic restaurant in fact I can't actually it's screams anything...Whether that's deliberate or not myself and my partner thought let's give it try and we had no idea what laid behind the coffee shop lounge and went through a door saying Come Through....I was literally flawed by the site of a long stretched bar and then tables and chairs that looked very inviting and lighting. The entire decor and lighting felt warm, and eye-catching colours and furniture. Not over the top or pretentious, just well thought out and executed well. Now, onto the menu and drinks we were offered....We looked at the menus and was impressed with the choices. So we started with a cocktails then chose our starters and mains wines...Then even had a cheese board with crackers and we sat in there from 7 til 9pm and didn't even realise we'd sat in the for two hours because we had one of the best meals in a long time and we've eaten in some pretty good places over the years and we just kept agreeing how well presented it was and most of all the flavours of food were exceptional too....The relaxed atmosphere and very attentive and friendly staff made it an even better experience and seeing the chef do his thing was also very impressive. It was only right to gave our compliments to the Chef 👨‍🍳 We had a lovely chat with our waiter who enlightened us on the back story of the restaurant that's been there for around 18 months and their future plans to open extra days. Which is very impressive and exciting for the owners I'm sure as they have something quite special going on there I just think they need to shout out more about it because I'm not sure like us if everyone is very aware of what's beyond the door or if we're just the last to find out lol. We left with big smiles and very satisfied bellies and can't wait to take our friends and family there for a treat. On top of that the prices were absolutely reasonable for that standard of food. I had the most amazing trip to The town House. We have been for both Sunday lunch and supper last night. Both were amazing and I would go again rain or shine, night or day! 10/10 for food, drinks and service! I’m planning my next trip already!

Will definitely go again!!! "Faulty Towers" meets "Hawksmoor" I believe this establishment was previously an Inidan or Thai restaurant, or maybe both. Clearly, they changed/upskilled the chefs as the steaks were sublime! Went there with friends, between us we had t-bone, sirloin, rib-eye and fillet (ranging from blue to medium). Nothing but complementary feedback. However, the service was comical, although ok, it was not what you would expect from a steakhouse (as in a dedicated/high-end). It was busy, very busy which probably resulted in the feeling of rushed table service ("what do you mean you want peppercorn sauce and not curry sauce".....) Nonetheless and probably more importantly. You'll enjoy the steaks!!!

We finally got around to visiting the Texas Steak House in Ropley after driving past for weeks/months thinking “we should try there” since it was opened. After our meal there we are glad we did. The food was very nice and good value at ~£90 for a 3 course meal (incl.a fillet steak) and drinks for 2. We made a reservation ahead of time, just incase they were busy via their website without issue, they didn’t ask us if we had one when we arrived but so not entirely sure they check this. It was reasonably busy Saturday night, parking on site was available right next to the restaurant with no issue. Service was good, timely and polite. Not sure what I expected from the atmosphere but the room was filled with friends and families chatting. The background music was more formal and the only thing I was confused about, it seemed better suited to a fine dining experience (not quite what I imagined for a Texas themed restaurant). Would we go again, for a date night / family meal / get together? Yes

We took our son here for his 16th birthday meal with some family, and it was really nice. Brand new restaurant done up brilliantly with a Texas feel and lovely attentive friendly staff. The menu is fantastic with loads to choose from. Obviously, steaks, but also PiriPiri chicken, pasta, burgers, and the starter options, were great, including marrow bone and Buffalo wings. They do a great mash and gravy to go with the steaks, and you have a great choice of different cuts and sauces and chips with a nice side salad. Everything was fresh and tasty and presented really well with perfect size portions. Very reasonable prices. This place is great for large groups or just by yourself if you fancied a really good meal. There is plenty of free parking. Give it go, you won't be disappointed it's open on a Monday night too, which is great 👍 😀 😉

I read the most recent negative reviews all by the same table! Myself and my wife ate opposite your table so I know exactly what went on that evening. Let’s tell you about our experience first. The food fantastic all fresh vibrant and extremely hot. The drinks were perfect and the staff extremely professional. The atmosphere perfect until your table arrived. My wife is vegetarian and she absolutely loved hers and my steak awesome. We left happy and we payed for our drinks before we left unlike your table. The negative reviews you left make no sense whatsoever after reading them, clearly vendictiv.

My wife and I found ourselves at the Cricketers Inn having tried a couple of closer pubs which had stopped serving food at 3pm (totally understandable but we had a lot on and we're running late and hungry!). We're glad we did. We received a warm welcome and a great lunch. 2 courses and some drinks came to just under £50 which I'm not going complain about. The food came out nice and quick, fresh and roasting hot. It was delicious, hats off to the chef. My wife had a chicken burger and I had a stir fry, both went down well. I'd recommend a visit, I'm a little disappointed that we didn't have the kids with us as the play area looked like it would have kept them occupied! Well done.

We stopped off for drinks in the massive garden that's so well catered for and is great for families with young children. There is plenty of parking too. Lovely and cozy inside. -------------------------------- We went for a meal for the first time on a very quiet night on a Monday in December. We checked the menu out prior to coming and saw it was priced on the higher side for a local pub/restaurant, so we were expecting great things. Unfortunately, there were a few things that let it down for us, and I hope this feedback is taken with good intentions. The starters were ok and reasonably priced. The mains were not so Lamb shank Beef Cheeks Pan fried seabase All costing between £24 and £25 The beef and lamb were with mash and gravy, and the fish with couscous and a white wine saffron sauce. No side vegetables accompanied the meat dishes, so it was very heavy on the mash and gravy, nothing green or seasonal to balance it out. The one very small fillet of seabase was ok but served as a child's portion on a very large plate and about three spoonfuls of vegetable couscous and scrapping of sauce. Unfortunately, I didn't take a photo of this dish. At those prices, you would expect the trimmings for the heavy meat and mash that was tasty and cooked well, by the way. The fish dish at £24.95 was not an adult portion. My partner had eaten it in a few mouthfuls. We were the only people dining in there and were also charged 12% service charge on top as a bit much and should be optional at those food prices. We don't mind paying those prices and have done many times and more, but unfortunately, the offerings do not match the prices, we pay less for more in town which is the competition and for us personally felt cheated out of the very simplest of things like some seasonal vegetables and at least two small fillets of seabase and maybe a few more spoonfuls of couscous for the money. It's a shame because overall, the food was nice and tasty, but the price is way over top and if the prices are kept that high and nothing is added to justify it or to make it special then it simply won't sustain in the long run in my humble opinion. £119.36 was the bill total with no vegetables added sad times 😢

Really lovely pub. The staff were great, even spotting my partner's ear defenders and offering to lower the music! The food delicious. The vegetarian burger was tasty, and the profiteroles delicious! I would definitely recommended it.

Stopped by for lunch whilst we were in the area. Exceptional service, good quality food and friendly staff. I'm autistic and have sensory processing issues, a member of staff noticed I had loops in my ears ( in ear defenders) and without me having to ask offered to turn down the music. If we're in the area again will definitely visit again. We were told it's under new management and just wanted to share this review to help them out.
