I must say this pub is well out of the way but worth finding! The Sunday roast beef was the best Sunday lunch I think I’ve ever had in a pub… the staff were excellent and so were the real ales. I’ll be back 100%. If you try it your love it.

Fantastic food, we were really impressed. It was so delicious, I had the beef blade and the jus in particular was incredible. Staff were so helpful and thoughtful catering for my allergies. Nice wee pub with good beer on tap and great friendly service. We are definitely going back.

Had a lovely lunch at The Yew Tree on Saturday, the pub was nestled in a fold of the Hampshire Countryside. The ambience was relaxed, attentive service and great food. The prawns had a lovely garlic butter sauce, I had the flaked shepards pie and my wife had the Fig and Goats cheese salad. All three courses were great and I had a pint of Hawkstone. We will be back! Best roast! I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Yew Tree in Aylesford, near Hampshire, and I must say, it was one of the best roast dinners I’ve ever had. The variety of meats on offer—chicken, lamb, and beef—ensures there’s something for everyone. I chose the lamb, which was tender, perfectly cooked, and served in a generous portion, far exceeding my expectations. The inclusion of sprouts, often overlooked in many roasts, was a delightful touch and prepared to perfection. The free cauliflower cheese was the cherry on top, adding a creamy, cheesy element to the meal without an additional charge—a rare and appreciated bonus. What sets The Yew Tree apart is the excellent balance of quality and quantity. Each plate is hearty, satisfying, and made with evident care. The roast is paired with crispy roast potatoes, rich gravy, and fresh vegetables, completing the experience beautifully. Went here for a late Christmas work do with a large team of 20-30 people. Our server was Shannon and she was fantastic. She took her time explaining the menu to those who hadn't been to the restaurant before and where there was a lot of us, she still showed patience and respectful atentive service to all of us equally. When we wanted a drink we went up to the bar individually to make it easier for our work team and for the servers who worked that night. Our bartender was kieran, he was lovely and always smiling and talking to us about our night. Didn't seem to mind when we were ordering individually and rounds and rounds of cocktails and spirits. Our food was nice and came out hot and quickly even though we were such a big group having three courses.

Beautiful location & building! Food was incredible although some of the sides were cooler than expected but still ok to eat. Sam our waiter was awesome, efficient & knowledgeable on the menu so he could advise of dairy free options. Even bringing out a birthday treat at the end for hubby’s birthday

Took the grandchildren out for a celebratory meal. The menu offers enough choice to suit most people. This evening we all enjoyed a well cooked and nicely presented meal. Our waitress Shannon had a lovely big smile and the service was excellent.

We had a lovely lunch at The Fox on a quiet Friday. Easy to recommend based on the delicious food in generous portions and excellent service. And a lovely location to boot!

Daughter in Law arranged a surprise 40th for her wife (our Daughter) today! 24 of us. Absolutely wonderful from start to finish. Very well organised and everything went to plan. The food delivered together, hot & delicious. All the staff were amazing & attentive. Main bar lady exceptional! Very personable, friendly & professional. Blooming wonderful with the children too. Such a wonderful relaxing time. Will definitely return even though we not local!! Do have to say we are very fussy too xx

If you like a traditional English pub with great food, lovely attentive service with a smile, this is the place for you. Only knocked the food back a bit because the pie could have more chunks of meat. Soufflé as a starter are amazing, must have even as a bite each shared dish. 3 pints (Proper Job and Timmy Taylor both excellent) 3 courses plus 12 % tip £105

Unspoilt country / village pub with welcoming hosts. Well kept local ale. we always enjoy the pubs like those which don't try too hard to move with the times, this is how a pub should be. We also ate here, recommend the Sunday roasts, good choice and nice spuds, tender meat. Will return soon . Many thanks 😊

This place had recently experienced a power cut because of the storms. They were still able to serve decent food. The menu is diverse and has lots of good things on it. The woman who greeted us was really nice. The atmosphere was extremely welcoming and the whole place just felt friendly. It was great to see so many foxes absolutely everywhere. It was amazing to note how many fox-related things were featured ie cushions, the backs of chairs, photographs etc. The place is quite small, but that just adds to how cosy, warm and friendly it feels. The people who attended the pub were also extremely friendly. I was allured by the fact that they spoke to us and they were just really nice. The people were not aloof at all and this was very much appreciated. What also made my day was that photos of an older man and a younger man were posted on the all. I noticed that the younger man walked into the pub and I recognised him because of the photographs! I recommend this place 100%. I just loved seeing all of the beautiful items with foxes on them. The people (including the customers) are also really lovely and nice.

They have hand sanitiser at the side entrance and the staff were very warm and welcoming. First time to a pub since lockdown and it was a very pleasant experience. All the seating currently is outdoors and there are sprays and towels for each table to clean yourself before and after you use the table, which I thought was good.

Decided to try here due to reviews. I got the Chati Lamb prices at £16.50, rice and peshwari nan. I find the prices a little on the high side given the portion size served. The curry had a lot of spice, the lamb was soft with a couple of chewy parts but spice like a Madras. The rice was fine as you would expect. The Nan, was a bit flavourless actually, very small portion with not very much filling. Overall I would rate this visit 6/10.

A Culinary Delight- A memorable Experience! We recently had the pleasure of dining at Spices and spirits Basingstoke and it was an exquisite experience that left us all absolutely delighted. The moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat.. The ambiance at the restaurant is lively. Soft lighting and well thought-out decor which enlightened the perfect mood for our evening. Every dish we ordered was a work of art, both visually and tastefully. Service at Spices and Spirits was brilliant. Can’t wait to return for another unforgettable meal.

First visit here after getting to know that they stand apart and been serving the best. !!Yes yes they are!! It was dinner meet with our office team thought to book this restaurant and they were simply great both food and Service. Special mention about the traditional rich Indian décor which dwells you back to the essence of Indian mood.. We shall visit them very soon.

Visited here on Monday for the first time as I was in the area of Basingstoke celebrating my wedding anniversary.. First impression.A*. Very clean and lovely decor. I'm vegan and the options were plentyful Staff was very welcoming and prices were great. The food was exceptional.. flavour,freshness, quantity and quality.. Absolutely enjoyed every bit of it. Had a bit of a wait but I was not fussed about it because good food with such standards takes time. You can tell a lot about food by the chef's passion. How it was prepared and presented. I would definitely recommend this place and hope to visit again if I'm in Basingstoke. Please please keep up the standards and service of your restaurant..it's very rare in these times. Absolutely great food and service..

What an incredible find! Spectacular food, 5-star service, and a really great range of food options, especially so for vegetarian and vegan mains, which so many restaurants struggle with. We'll definitely be coming again – in fact we've already booked for one of their 7-course taster evenings next week, and we can't wait!

We love this place, had many birthdays here now and every time has been lovely, staff are great and very attentive. The food is beautiful. Definitely worth a visit.

Visited on a Saturday lunch time around opening time and was very pleased with decor, atmosphere and overall feel of place from the outside and inside. Lots of parking and looks incredible. Interior is just as exquisite. Service from being seated to checking up after we received our food was excellent and attentive. They offer wide range of food and also even do afternoon tea parties is a separate area which is a very nice touch, there was a baby shower happening as we had out lunch. Would recommend the Goan Chicken Curry, Truffle Chicken and also the Okra fries were excellent!

We had a really excellent meal here for my daughter’s birthday. There was a new menu and all of our dishes were superb. Service was faultless. We have eaten here a number of times and it has always been fabulous! Thoroughly recommended

I stayed here for the first time earlier this week. It’s a lovely building, set in immaculate grounds. The staff were among the best I have known: friendly, welcoming, pleasant, nothing was too much trouble. My room was huge, cool, spotless. The bed was massive and very comfortable. I cannot speak highly enough of the place and the staff. I am in that locale quite often and I will make sure to stay there as often as possible. Thank you all for making it such a lovely stay.

A classic, elegant, and tranquil typical English old-style hotel in the meadows. Wonderful decors and breakfast (better than most restaurants), also perfect view from the windows. Service was really classy and friendly, the whole package came to me as a serendipity -- didn't expect to find this hidden gem in the middle of Basingstoke!

We ventured here yesterday for the first time and we where no disappointed. The service from the minute we walked in was friendly and comfortable. We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary and they even provided us with a dessert highlighting this, which was an absolute surprise to us both and so delicious. The food was delicious and the staff outstanding. We will definitely be back

A pleasant evening with work colleagues. The staff were really attentive but not intrusive. We shared two of the mezze between the six of us. A good selection of typical Turkish fayre... The hummus and bread were particularly delicious. I had a mixed plate of various meat. All perfectly cooked and a good size portion. No-one had room for dessert... Maybe next time.

The Olive House is a fantastic restaurant serving authentic and delicious Turkish cuisine in Basingstoke. The cozy ambiance and warm decor make you feel like you’ve been transported to Turkey, adding to the overall dining experience. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive. I ordered the köfte, which was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The lamb guvec was rich and flavorful, while the Adana kebab had just the right amount of spice. To finish, I had the baklava and a traditional Turkish coffee—both were an absolute treat! If you're looking for a great Turkish dining experience, The Olive House is definitely worth a visit!

Had the most fabulous lunch for 7 at The Fur and Feathers. A surprise oasis of sublimely delicious food. Seasonal ingredients featured highly on the menu and all food was obviously home made from chutneys to puddings with a lot of effort put into every dish. Would recommend highly.

This is a great place to have an event or a large party. Proper family run venue with the wife running the kitchen and the husband running front of house with his daughter the food quality and decoration is unimaginable. The service is top notch. As a team they are always looking to help out every party member when assistance is needed. Good selection of drinks too. Lovely outside dining area with the option for outside catering as they have the facilities. Massive car park and a very quiet location close to the M3 just outside of Basingstoke. They really made me happy when I visited. Totally recommend this place.

Great service as always. The pie was perfect, beautiful crust! Delicious filling and plenty of it. Burger was best in class and very well presented.

First class every time we visit. Their Sunday lunch is amazing. Attentive and friendly staff. Local produce and beautifully presented and great portion sizes. Dog friendly and lovely atmosphere good for any special occasion or just a bite to eat.

Superb meal for our anniversary. Selection of breads, a Greek salad and the cheese soufflé to start. We both had the blade of beef which was so tender and the Parmesan/truffle chips were so good. Cheese and a chocolate dessert for pudding really finished us off. Definitely a special occasion place and we’ll certainly be back!

We had a fantastic night here celebrating our daughter's 21st birthday. From start to finish the staff were charming, friendly and welcoming. Our family have experience working in hospitality and it is always wonderful to see this level of service, attentive but discreet at the same time. Our food was delicious and we were able to try a good selection of what was on offer. The lamb fritter with spiced yoghurt and the slow cooked blade of beef with parmesan truffle chips were particular highlights. The complimentary prosecco on arrival for the birthday girl was a lovely touch! We nearly had to stay the night because of the roads being almost impassable when we left due to the snow. Maybe that wouldn't have been a bad thing! Will definitely return to this warm and welcoming pub.

Came here for a birthday treat. We were not disappointed! The food and service were exceptional. As it was a special occasion we had the Chateaubriand. It was so delicious, that our only complaint was the disappointment once it was finished! Great British food and ingredients done fantastically well. Highly recommended
