5 stars only because I can't put 6 or 7. Lovely place, excellent food (the duck breast...), nice staff. It's always a pleasure to go there.

Great service as always. The pie was perfect, beautiful crust! Delicious filling and plenty of it. Burger was best in class and very well presented.

This is a great place to have an event or a large party. Proper family run venue with the wife running the kitchen and the husband running front of house with his daughter the food quality and decoration is unimaginable. The service is top notch. As a team they are always looking to help out every party member when assistance is needed. Good selection of drinks too. Lovely outside dining area with the option for outside catering as they have the facilities. Massive car park and a very quiet location close to the M3 just outside of Basingstoke. They really made me happy when I visited. Totally recommend this place.

Had the most fabulous lunch for 7 at The Fur and Feathers. A surprise oasis of sublimely delicious food. Seasonal ingredients featured highly on the menu and all food was obviously home made from chutneys to puddings with a lot of effort put into every dish. Would recommend highly.

Wow. Talk about an unexpected gem. I'm seriously picky when it comes to pub roasts. Par boil potatoes and quality meat is a must. It's very very rare to find a pub that does roast potatoes that are home standard. The Greyhound chef absolutely nails it. We had roast beef and our daughter had the gluten free pork. Two huge slabs of perfectly cooked beef accompanied by excellent roast potatoes, huge Yorkshire, generous veg and no need to ask for extra gravy or cauliflower cheese these come as standard. My daughter has made me promise to come here every month!!! Honestly the best roast we've had out in years. One additional shout out for the service too. Super friendly landlord and great knowledgeable staff. Well done Greyhound!!!!!

Great pub, great grub too - lasagne is great. Beer garden with play area for kids - perfect for summer Edit Sept 2020 - unbelievably, the pub has got even better. Amazing specials menu changing regularly, with fantastic treats including Salmon with bubble and squeak, fall-apart-in-your-mouth ribs, and Thai fish curry. Amazing. Go here now.

Lovely English pub. With typical menu fayre. They manage to squeeze us in on the hop, which was great. Food delicious. Definately recommend this pub.

Decent pub good atmosphere unfortunately they had no blackcurrant and ran out of morreti on draft ( only other choice on draft being fosters ) am sure this teething problems. Edited to add just found out they now do Amstel AND cruzampio so will be back happy days

Stopped for lunch on the way to Stonehenge. Lovely environment! Plenty of space and seats. Friendly hosts and servers. Adam took care of us. I recommend if you are in the area. Large menu with cocktails, beers, coffee, breakfast, dessert, lunch and more!!

Lovely afternoon at the Holly Blue today. Staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. Caesar salad, club sandwich ( have had on numerous occasions and is amazing) and chicken tenders from kids menu (for an adult who was extremely happy with this as can’t eat big portions but doesn’t like to waste food) were all devoured amongst us today then we had a little room left for the new cronuts, ( toffee and lemon) and a brownie. All so amazing…..really good!! Wide range of cakes to choose from and we were even able to take some home for those who weren’t able to join us. Staff very accommodating. Lovely atmosphere. Didn’t feel rushed. Love that the Holly Blue is on our doorstep and we will be visiting again very soon.

Lovely staff but because there were few staff on the service was a bit slow. We weren't in a rush so it was fine. Good food, overpriced drinks - £8.40 for two diet cokes. Good choice of food on the kids menu though and the kids meal had brilliant presentation and was a good size portion. I would come back!

When visiting my relatives in Basingstoke, I find the Hatch the best place for a good meal in good surroundings. It's very popular and worth booking in advance. Then there's still the problem of finding a parking space when you get there! The menu is varied and I have no difficulty in trying something new there, should I wish to. Meals are of very good quality and usually delicious. I've always found the staff here very friendly and totally efficient. The Hatch has beautiful gardens and outdoor seating should the weather be good enough. Highly recommended.

Our experience at The Hatch was great. We had chicken strips & crispy squid for starters which were great. We had the cheddar & bacon burger and the mixed grill for mains, they were amazing! The burger was a tasty burger, chunky patty and crispy bacon, and the jam all together tasted great. The mixed grill was arguably the best mixed grill I’ve had. Great size portions of steak and gammon, could do with a little more peppercorn sauce though. We both had the sticky toffee pudding for desert, it was rich and flavoursome. Lovely ending to a perfect 3 course meal. We were served by Bella, she was a star. Everything done right, and was attentive and patient. Will be recommending it to others and will make sure to come back again. 5 Stars, 10/10.

Had a great meal on Saturday evening. Lovely welcome. Nice bar and restaurant. The service and food was amazing. Pork belly and Beef ribs. The puzzling thing was we were the only 3 people there between 7 and 9 on a Saturday evening. I feel that with the right advertising and patronage by the locals, it would be one of the best options for a meal out in the area. We will definitely recommend and will be returning soon.

Dropped in here for lunch with family as we have driven past a few times and has never been in. We were surprised there were no other customers during our meal, because it was good value decent food! The greeting and service could not be faulted, the pub/restaurant is clean and pleasant, there's nothing to fault here. There were 4 of us, we each had something different, and nobody was disappointed. Each plate was well presented, the food was fresh and well cooked, good sized portions, and the service was perfect. Prices were very reasonable, and there is a good choice on the menu, my only regret is not having a dessert! We will definitely return again sometime!

Lovely food and staff , just missed out on a 5 star review because the atmosphere was very quiet like a doctors waiting room . The staff although very pleasant were talking in non English language around us and I found that a little offensive. Toilets were disgusting outdated and smelly . But food was great and hopefully to make this a 5 star location these minor adjustments will be addressed.

We stopped off here for a late lunch on a whim during a motorway trip from the south coast to Bedfordshire. (Asked Google to show the nearest pubs/restaurants and this was the nearest that was open for food in the afternoon.) The place wasn't very busy, service prompt and attentive, but not overly so, and food delicious. We both opted for pies; me the Sun Inn Fish Pie and my husband the Cottage Pie - piping hot, very tasty, with a selection of perfectly cooked vegetables. There were plenty of gluten-free options for me, and it was good to have that choice. Portion size was perfect too, not too much to make you feel over-stuffed or the need to leave some, but we definitely feel like we have had a good meal. (My one preference would be for just a couple more green beans on the plate! Not a deal-breaker though 😊.) We would be happy to make a detour here again in the future. Thank you! 😋 (Generally, the restaurant area didn't have quite the atmosphere of the cosier drinks part of the Inn. Having more clientele would help.)

Our room was absolutely beautiful bed is super comfy , all the staff are friendly food was beautiful and the scenery is incredible we loved our stay and so did our doggy . They even have a doggy food menu which I thought was brilliant . Will definitely be back!

Me & my partner got married here. I cannot recommend this venue enough. The food was great, the staff were fantastic. The accommodation on site was perfect. Special mention to Flo. She was our wedding coordinator. She was amazing. Made the day stress free. Top notch!

Visited the restaurant here, nice cosy atmosphere here and was surprised at how busy it was on a Monday evening. The service was great. I had the vegan katsu curry which I highly recommend, even as a non-vegetarian, and the sticky toffee pudding too. Only negatives, it was a little cold where we were sitting in the restaurant and the car park was totally dark making it a bit difficult to park. Other than that it was a nice meal!

Another lovely Sunday lunch and, even though we were "full", David persuaded us to have a dessert... Good call! Denise had cheesecake, I had the frangipane tart thingie with some delish brittle garnish. There was no creme anglais (custard to you and me) so I had to make a choice between cream and ice cream, I had both... We have already booked for next week (again). 👍👍

We absolutely love The Red Lion, Overton, and we regularly visit for food and drinks. The service is always excellent, with the staff being warm and welcoming. The food is fantastic and really well priced with a wide variety of tasty dishes on offer. There's a great selection of drinks availabme with a range of good draught lagers, and there's always a nice choice of real ale available as well as a fantastic range of wine and spirits. There's a beer garden and onsite parking as well. Overall, I can't recommend this pub enough, and it's well worth a visit for either food or a cheeky pint.

The food at the Red Lion is excellent. I am especially a fan of their Breakfasts and Sunday Roasts, they're absolutely top notch! David, Victoria and their staff are very friendly and welcoming as always.

Hidden gem, went for Sunday lunch and the food was top. Great service, good drinks and reasonable prices. All served with a friendly smile. Can’t fault it.

Really very pleasant, warm and welcoming. We met many friends we hadn't seen so far this year. We were using the bar as a meeting place., so did not use the accommodation or restaurant as we are fortunate to have lived in the village for 35 years.

We visited the beach arms last night, just me and my grandson. We had a lovely meal, the service was really good. I was served by Ruben and Pavelo, they were excellent, very attentive and polite. The food was served quickly and was really good. Will definitely return again soon and will recommend to friends and family.

Had lunch with wife and two young kids. All had carvery and bottomless ice cream. Food was brilliant and service from the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Kids were also given colouring games to keep them entertained whilst food was going through. Additionally I have recently come out mid week with friends, and the value of the weekday 50% off deals is mind bogglingly cheap for what you get! I had a handmade honey pork pizza for £6!! Will definitely be returning with family again soon, and very happy to recommend the venue. Finally it's worth getting the Stonehouse app as it's pretty simple, allows bookings and table service, and you can get a hold of extra deals now and then that just make going a no brainer!
