We had a family lunch here after burying my mum's ashes at the nearby woodland burial ground. It was perfect. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent.

Stayed here for 1 night on business. Really wonderful country Pub, beautifully furnished rooms and the food was amazing. Lovely cosy atmosphere in the Pub and all the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!!

Not been here for 15 years or so but had the best Sunday lunch today we've ever had! The roasts were brilliant, the kids fish and chips was great. They've even got Hawkstone on tap- perfect. The staff were really friendly and the pub is great- a proper local pub! We'll be back soon.

Lovely Sunday Roast. Food is always excellent. A perfect example of how a pub should be on a day to day basis. Same can’t be said about the BVI down the road. The George is a perfect place for a drink, snack or meal. Highly recommend!

Have been here a few times now, the events are well organised and the food is good, but avoid shots unless money is no object...£4 for a Baby Guinness is taking the mick!

We stumbled upon this lovely little pub quite by accident, thanks to Google! I was looking for somewhere not far off the main road to meet a friend, and this came up. The description of a "thatched pub" sealed it for me, and oh! I'm so happy we came here! The village looks like something straight out of a tourism brochure: thatched roofs, narrow lanes, history everywhere you turn... it is just beautiful. And the pub itself: slanted ceilings, huge old fireplace, dark beams, even a friendly pub dog! Neil, the landlord was very welcoming, as was the young lady behind the bar (didn't catch her name). Oh, and a lovely, quiet beer garden out back. Would definitely recommend this pub, and I look forward to stopping here again on a future trip back to the UK!

What a wonderful pub! The owner was gracious enough to allow us to take photos! This pub was in the town that my Mayflower Descendent, Stephen Hopkins, was born and baptized! The beer was cold and the conversation wonderful! At the time, they were looking for a chef - otherwise, we would've eaten here. I'm sure it would be as wonderful as the rest!

We had a lovely early Family Christmas at the C&S, we used the skittle alley and Kim and her team had set up the tables for us and made it very Christmasy. Great afternoon and the youngest member of the family won the skittles game and Kim came in and presented the cup. Good food, good beer, fantastic atmosphere and the welcome from Kim and her team was brilliant.

Just a last minute decision to pop in for food and drink. Lovely welcome and great eye contact on arrival. We wandered round looking at variety of pictures on the many walls, while waiting for food. Were encouraged to explore and explained by Tracey about different events that take place. Overall a comfortable visit , good service, nice atmosphere and very pleasant, helped by a knowledgeable staff member Tracey . Thanks Janey

Great ambience, nice pub. Staff were attentive. Vegetables were a bit al dente, but overall quality was 7/10. Nice touch with the apple pie inside the Yorkshire pudding.

Without doubt the best roast pork dinner I have had in my 63 years on this earth. The pork just melted in your mouth. Lots of roast potatoes. Glazed carrots , parsnips , broccoli, lovely Yorkshire pudding, pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese and gravy. So filling only had room for one pint of hobgoblin and no room for desserts which also all sounded so yummy. Lovely happy friendly staff made Sunday lunch so enjoyable. Highly recommend plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. Lots of parking including disabled spots available. Would definitely go again.

Popped in for dinner as we passed it while away for a few days and glad we did. Tracy checked us in who was welcoming, friendly and showed us to our table. We sat in the dog friendly area as we had our rescue dog Ruby with us, they even serve up a little furry friends menu. Massive open fire which i bet is just amazing as the weather gets cooler. Although in a dog friendly area, we didn't feel separated from the rest of the pub either, The food and service were amazing thank you. They also have a little snug area for just drinks and somewhere to relax after your meal. Very cosy pub and 100% recommended if you are in the area. Met a friend for lunch. Lovely & plentiful food, lots of choice and all at very reasonable prices. Service was very good. Nice cozy pub ambiance. I would recommend booking in advance as it can get quite busy. We will definitely return.

We visited the Royal Oak for a Christmas Breakfast and meet Santa. Service, Food and whole atmosphere was amazing. Will definitely be visiting again more regularly in 2025

Lovely local pub, bar staff/waiters are always friendly, welcoming and attentive. Food is always good value for money and today I have to say presentation was spot on! Looked and tasted great. Well done team for all round great service.

We booked the festive feast for Christmas eve. What a delightful experience! We had a beautifully decorated table, the price point was just right but, most importantly, that was the best turkey we've ever had! We had such a lovely evening, the pub is beautifully decorated and it was so memorable. Thank you!

I was frantically ringing around trying to find somewhere to have a wake for my mum. (only a couple of days before the funeral) I rang the Anton Arms and they said "yes sure we'll set a side a room for you", which was great, I originally said about 14 people but it ended up being about 25 people. The staff were brilliant, we had drinks, sharing platters, cheesy chips, nachos etc, also a few people had pie and chips. Came to under £250. Thankyou so much to the staff for taking the stress out of my day.

Bit of a chain pub but nice decor and ambiance. Good range of drinks and good service. Lots of people eating and with a large area reserved it makes it less easy for drinkers. But I would definitely go back.

First time visit lovely pub right on the anton river. Friendly staff. Lovely food and at a good price highly recommend

Very nice place (and I mean that). Trouble is, making and serving coffee from coffee machines takes ages, especially when the server also has to take it to the table as well. Other customers have to wait for too long and I saw some walk out. In my opinion it is a false economy to believe that coffee in a pub is more important than alcohol sales. That is based completely upon my observations this afternoon.

Lovely garden, usually friendly staff (but not always, there's quite a high turnover, even for a bar), beer line always kept fresh. Every bit of food I've had here (on 3 occasions has been bad but for drinks it's great.

We had a lovely afternoon here. The food was wonderful, except the roast potatoes were a little underdone, but they made too many and gave us a couple of bowls for free, and they were lovely and crispy! We love the 'pick the music' machine upstairs, as well as the pool tables and darts. Pete and his team were amazing, couldn't have asked for more wonderful people.

I stopped to use the EV charging point in the car park but went in to use the loo. Unfortunately it was quite late and the coffee machine had been turned off but the staff were happy to let me sit and watch the football.

Great place for supper, especially burgers were you can choose any 3 sides. As always the desserts were amazing!

Lovely welcome on arrival. Food was ordered and served quickly. It was all very hot and all requests were no problem at all. We have a child with food requirements and it was not a problem at all. The only thing was we sent a steak back, although beautifully cooked we asked for medium / well done but it arrived rare. The issue was resolved very quickly so no complaints at all. Will visit again.

We live in North Yorkshire & travel to Andover to see our daughter & her family. The travel lodge is convenient. We chose to eat at the C.B, originally for convenience. However it’s now a part of our booking process. The food is always hot & tasty & superior to any other pub that we’ve used over the years in Andover. (I assume that you’re part of a chain, the quality says otherwise) We have had great servers. From meeting & greeting Tracy to our table server, 14/02 Lydia & 15/02 Elaine. Generally all staff are welcoming and helpful. They just look after you.😊 The food is great, the drinks menu caters for all. The prices are reasonable. All in all, a very positive experience. Definitely worth a visit & our son in law tells us the Sunday roast is great too….maybe we’ll get to sample that one day.

We had very nice mid-week meals here. The atmosphere was nice, not too busy, but not quiet or stale and the setting was all very nice, clean and tables available. We had the whitebait and sticky chicken starters, with a scampi and pie and mash for main. We were served by Lydia, who was confident, polite, knowledgeable and very attentive. She was very helpful, making our choices and decisions easy. The food was all very nice, less the mash potato, which looked like it had been sitting a while in a pot or under a heat lamp, but I was hungry and couldn't be bothered with sending it back and waiting for another meal, and my colleague was already eating too. It was a very nice visit and I'd certainly go again.

We were served by Theo and Chloe this evening. It was busier tonight then before so food was a little longer but not to long. Again I had steak and it was cooked perfectly. So many restaurants struggle to get the perfect med/rare but yet again it was here. Between Theo and Chloe the service was quick and efficient. Both my daughters loved their meals and we will definitely come back here. Thank you both

A cheap and cheerful pub. We ordered the burger, sizzler combo as we’ve had it before in other pubs from this chain. The portion size here was a lot smaller than elsewhere. The cutlery, crockery and glasses were grubby. I stood at the bar for approximately 5 mins calling into the kitchen to get someone to serve me at the bar. No one in earshot. We sat in the window and it was cold. Next to radiators but they weren’t on. Background music would’ve been nice. A lovely afternoon catch up with friends but I don’t think we will be returning.

So I ordered the mega mixed grill which was nice although the sausages had definitely been sitting for a while, they weren't hot but edible. My steak was cooked perfectly and the gammon was really good, the chicken breast however wasn't the best that was a little chewy and no real flavour. My dessert however was excellent it was a massive glass of ice cream and cream with mixture of sweets in it and was very tasty. Would I go back..... Yes I would go back and I would try a different dish as some dishes are better than others. Overall I had a nice experience.

Fantastic food and really great customer service! Dayna was absolutely brilliant very welcoming and attentive. Max was fantastic also. We really enjoyed our visit! Ate more than we should but loved it all. Thank you so much.
