The restaurant's atmosphere is superb, and the waitstaff are very friendly, taking the time to patiently explain the menu. This is the best Indian restaurant I've eaten at in the UK, and I highly recommend it to anyone. Another pleasant surprise is that the restaurant is really clean and tidy, also it’s has air conditioning, which is much appreciated given the recent heatwave in the UK.

We tried the lunch menu. The thali (butter chicken, rice, naan, salad, tarka dhal, poppadum) set menu offered extremely good value for money and was great tasting, authentic food. See the menu for other meat and vegetarian options. The customer service was also excellent. Can't fault our visit.

Everytime we go away its our tradition to go for Indian food and it definitely did not disappoint. Atmosphere was great, staff couldnt of done more, staff knew exactly what spices were in each meal, didn't need to go and "ask the chef", very professional. Food is to die for, every single thing was amazing, butter chicken was perfectly cooked so was lamb shank, probably the best lamb shank we ever had in any restaurant. Will be visiting again once we come this way!

Ate here for the first time on Wednesday evening and wasn’t disappointed. Nicely decorated, very clean and lovely staff. Had deep fried Mac and cheese bites for starter and jerk chicken on loaded fries and goat curry (not always available mid week but worth checking). All delicious! Good portions and chef came to check we were happy afterwards which was a lovely touch. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Please support this great independent restaurant so that it is open when we next visit the area! (Free car park after 4pm just behind the restaurant.)

We came in early on a Saturday night, made use of the happy hour- delicious cocktails! We had a mixture of starters and mains which were all well presented and very tasty. Servers were all friendly, no long waits (although it was quiet at the time) and the music was good. Would recommend.

Highly recommend! Andover needs somewhere like this! We’ve not found anywhere similar! We had BBQ wings, halloumi, JERK chicken burger with fries & JERK pork which came with coleslaw and Mac n cheese. Everything was spot on! The sauces were great! Meat tender full of flavour. Can’t fault a thing. Food 10/10 service 10/10 nice atmosphere! Really good selections of drinks, cocktails, beers, wines, soft drinks! They even offer catering for parties etc. We forgot to take pictures of the food because it didn’t stay on the plate very long! Really reasonably priced and good portions! We were STUFFED!

The food was incredible and the portion sizes were really great for the price you pay! The servers were lovely and friendly and we're looking forward to coming again. Definitely the best place to eat in Andover

We celebrated my mums 80th birthday at this restaurant and it was brilliant. The service was excellent. So friendly and kind. Nothing was too much trouble. Food came quickly and was well cooked and tasty and tasted amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. We really had a great time and will definitely be going back. Couldn’t get over how friendly the staff are. Definitely worth 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic food, very friendly staff, reasonably priced too! We've come here at least 8 times now, that's how great it is! Ayaz, Mimi and Andreea the waiter/waitresses are the best here! We've invited all our friends and family to come along, it's a lovely establishment, you will not be disappointed! They've recently updated their menu. Tonight I visited the restaurant with a friend from Ghana, we had a lovely meal, the staff were really helpful with helping me choose food as I’ve never experienced African food before. Lovely lovely food , and a wonderful experience, we will definitely be visiting again . A hidden gem in Andover . They even do English breakfast at a very reasonable price. Burgers and AMAZING African food.

Great food, served at an African pace, to enjoy at an African pace with friends and family. The “Jollof” rice with a side of goat and spicy sauce was very tasty, and you can’t go wrong when you order a burger and it comes with 2 chicken legs! Take your own wine or beer and stay for a while! Also, it’s attached to an awesome African Supermarket!

Service was excellent, can't fault it. Food was very nicely cooked and presented. The atmosphere was good and would recommend to anyone travelling in the area or just a nice dinner night out.

It was my first time visiting the Royal Oak. I booked a table for 10 for my wife's birthday. I spoke to the lovely lady on the phone about the chef making my wife a birthday cake. They couldn't be more accommodating, saying they'll make her favourite one. The meal was absolutely outstanding and the service matched. I will absolutely returning as the Guinness was the best I've had around also. Super service, super drink and super food. I really recommend

Amazing pub! Even in new ownership they've still kept it a fantastic pub to visit! Warm homely atmosphere, very friendly and very helpful bar staff. I ordered a salmon puree started followed by the beer battered fish and chips and both were delicious! Met the owner who's also very friendly and welcoming! 5 star experience from start to finish!

Friendly owners that explained to us when we came in they were a little short handed. We appreciated knowing up front and were fine with it. We had a beer and great conversation with a gentleman cyclist. The food was fantastic!

What a wonderful pub! The owner was gracious enough to allow us to take photos! This pub was in the town that my Mayflower Descendent, Stephen Hopkins, was born and baptized! The beer was cold and the conversation wonderful! At the time, they were looking for a chef - otherwise, we would've eaten here. I'm sure it would be as wonderful as the rest!

Fantastic service from the team at the Crook and Shears. They catered for a large event with fresh, tasty food and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The skittles alley was a lot of fun. Thank you very much.

We stumbled upon this lovely little pub quite by accident, thanks to Google! I was looking for somewhere not far off the main road to meet a friend, and this came up. The description of a "thatched pub" sealed it for me, and oh! I'm so happy we came here! The village looks like something straight out of a tourism brochure: thatched roofs, narrow lanes, history everywhere you turn... it is just beautiful. And the pub itself: slanted ceilings, huge old fireplace, dark beams, even a friendly pub dog! Neil, the landlord was very welcoming, as was the young lady behind the bar (didn't catch her name). Oh, and a lovely, quiet beer garden out back. Would definitely recommend this pub, and I look forward to stopping here again on a future trip back to the UK!

One of the lovely’s pub I ever visited. I am from Germany and visited last year this wonderful place with my girlfriend. We have a wonderful time here. Brilliant stuff, so so friendly the landlord is barking such a character. Made us really welcome. The locals are supporting him. Foods very good l had the pasta compliments to the chef. Seats outside or very private garden. Landlord has a great repotoire of clean jokes enough to keep up amused. Love it and supporting when I can

Book ahead as it gets busy! Booked Sunday lunch for 6. Arrived at 12 (our booking was for 12.15hrs) and front door still locked. Whilst waiting we admired the Snowdrops in the car park. Friendly greeting on entry. Food took a while to come out and whilst waiting were told we'd need to vacate by 2.30pm as they needed table for another sitting. Very pleasant young lady but timing off as we'd not had food yet! Would have been better to have notified in booking email or SMS beforehand in my opinion. We had 3 turkey, 1 beef and 1 pork Sunday lunches, plus fish & chips. The food was piled high and meat plentiful. Nice fresh veg and huge home made Yorkshire pudding with plenty of gravy. A couple of pieces of meat overcooked slightly but the rest was tender. Roast potatoes not crispy enough but generous portion. Entire meal was not piping hot but just about warm enough. Fish and chips look anaemic but fish cooked ok. Batter not crispy enough. Very pleasant surroundings and ambiance. Open fire and comfy seating by entrance a nice touch. Our table overlooked beer garden which looked lovely in sun and would be great in Summer months. Overall it was pleasant enough but had high expectations and it wasn't quite up to those. Three people had puddings, Eton Mess and Lemon tart, which they enjoyed very much.

Great food and atmosphere in a lovely setting. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. He has just started running this pub and I wish him every success for the future. My sister and mother really enjoyed it there too.

Took a good friend to lunch at this lovely pub. Exceptional food, atmosphere and a log fire which a bonus on this dull and rainy day. She is a coeliac which limits her choices, but at the Oak she had plenty of options. Would recommend a visit. We had a main course and dessert with hot chocolate all of which was superb.

I have been coming to this pub for a good 5-6 years now it has been local to my area and everyone that I have brought for a quality time has said what a beautiful place, surrounded by nature, in a quiet village on the outskirts of Andover. The Owners are ever so friendly and welcome to anyone. Would recommend 100% to any person.

Best pub in the area by far! Has something for everyone, cosy inside ‘traditional’ pub area, beautifully decorated conservatory, fun pub garden with giant deckchair and umbrella ceiling, and a couple of pods plus the posh pod! Food is always stellar and a great selection of pub favourites, burgers and specials. Best pub dessert menu by far. Or great just for a few after work drinks in the garden. And the service is always impeccable. Can’t recommend highly enough.
