I don’t understand anything less than a 5 star on here. Someone suggested this place and after seeing the reviews we had high hopes but my word, I wasn’t expecting to leave as happy as I did. The food was AMAZING. 100% we will be returning and have even told our friends about this place. Fresh, authentic and flavoursome, I audibly said “oh my god” several times eating it. The flavours and ingredients were in perfect harmony. We went on a Saturday at 1pm, it was quite quiet but definitely started to pick up as we left, I would book just incase. Giussepe himself was so accommodating, you can tell he absolutely loves doing what he does and it felt like we walked into someone’s home it was that welcoming. It’s simple but cosy inside, what you would expect from a bistro. Clean, warm and although a smaller space there was still plenty of room around us. The star of the show has to be the food but everything was 10/10.

The food was fantastic. We had the Christmas set menus and every item on it was simply perfect.

A bit late with this review as we’ve ate at this quaint little bistro many times and it never fails to impress. Great food, great service, and great atmosphere. Fantastic choice of pizza and pasta dishes and all reasonably priced. Tonight we had the arancini and chicken skewer starters followed by Ciamponi di Italia pizza, made in homage to Giuseppi’s favourite team, Napoli and Paccheri pasta with prawns, chorizo, garlic, chilli, and cherry tomatoes. All dishes were so tasty and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended 👏👏

What an experience! Booked lunch for my wife’s birthday, staff were so welcoming including Kenny himself! Very relaxed feel, food was all served and processes described by the chefs themselves. One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had! The staff all signed the menu with birthday wishes for my wife which was a lovely gesture and I’m sure she’ll treasure the memory as we’re both foodies. Definitely worth every penny and the drive up north. 10/10

Simply stunning. Kenny and his small team have created something which feels exquisitely refined whilst intimate, friendly and relaxed at the same time. With only 12 covers and the food being served and described by the chefs themselves, you instantly sense the passion to deliver an unforgettable experience. The setting is smart and bright; think crisp white tablecloths, beautiful cutlery and light fittings, with a unexpected music selection making the surroundings feel less stuffy and formal. The 18 course tasting menu read like a list of the finest ingredients available, and the initial selection of amuse-bouche set the tone with an entire tin of caviar making it clear luxury was the aim! Each bite delivered strong, defined balanced flavours. The presentation was, as expected, truly exceptional. Every element of the dish was proudly described in detail by the chef who had prepared it and the wine paring was both varied and exciting, again described with genuine enthusiasm by the sommelier. The staff clearly enjoyed what they did and were happy to chat, as was Kenny, who at the end of the night sat with guests and chatted to us about the inception of the restaurant and his aspirations for it. A truly unforgettable culinary experience.

Dinner. A culinary journey that’s unrivalled in Newcastle. For those not in the know, it’s the second restaurant from celebrated local chef Kenny Atkinson. It's just a short walk from his other venue, House of Tides Quayside, Newcastle. From the moment you walk through the doors of Solstice. An intimate and elegant dining room with just 14 covers sets the scene as Kenny Atkinson and his talented team welcome each guest personally. When seated, you are presented with a menu simply stating the main ingredient of each of the 17 courses to come. The evening begins with smoked eel cream topped with N25 Hybrid Caviar, served with chicken skin crackers. Each of the following courses are served by a member of the Solstice kitchen team, who explain each dish in detail and stress the seasonal, sustainable focus of their cuisine. There were so many incredible dishes to decide on a favourite. If you were to twist our arms, the highlights would have to be the lobster tail roasted in its own oil, served with yuzu kosho butter sauce. Accompanied by fresh Redcurrants & Yuzu caramel. Or even the Dry Aged Royal Squab Pigeon breast. Brushed with a cherry ponzu glaze. Served with a parker house bread loaf. They even served an extra jug of Pigeon sauce périgueux.

We had a fantastic Friday lunch here. From the moment we walked in it felt special - there was attention to very detail of our experience. Service was friendly and all staff were so knowledgeable about the food and wine. We expected the food to be amazing - it went beyond our expectations - so much flavour and texture. The smoked eel dish was one of the ones I was less enthusiastic about - however it was such a wonderful thing to eat. The Parmesan with generous amounts of truffle was just sublime. The wine pairings were unexpected and bold - the sake was a revelation. We loved our experience here - it felt as if we had entered a dream!

First visit to this chain. Visiting Newcastle and didn't know about them. Staff were great and welcoming and service was superb throughout the evening. They have a buffet with others shown and then it is all you can eat. Meat comes to your table. This is carved at you and you pick off with your tongs. Pork beef chicken and lamb. Chips brought to table. Meat was high quality. I would come hungry. Price was £45 per head so you need to eat your fill in my opinion. Decor was fun and good atmosphere. Worth checking out but expect a high cost.

Food is delicious here, good choices of what you can get! Plenty different types of meat on offer, the salad bar was nice (and I'm normally a salad dodger) and the desserts were beautiful! Unfortunately I forgot to take photos of the meat dishes! The staff that come to your table with meat choices were great and the other staff were very helpful! My only complaint (and it is minor) is that it did feel a little bit chaotic with staff walking round with different meat all the time! But that's just me, I tend to like to be left alone when I'm eating!

We recently visited for my daughter's birthday, and I can't express how wonderful the experience was! The staff went out of their way to make her day special, bringing her ice cream and singing happy birthday, which truly made her feel celebrated. The meat selection was on point, especially the picanha and lamb—both perfectly cooked! The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, and the service was top-notch, leaving us completely satisfied. Huge thanks to the team for an unforgettable evening!

This is the best Italian cuisine I had in Newcastle, authentic and delicious. Ordered seafood linguine and really enjoyed. The flavour was spot on, the only downside for me was one or two clams tasted a bit sand, it was really difficult to fully clean the sand though. Compared the ones I had in the past, it was really good. The garlic bread was top notch too with great size. Family had lasagnas and they said it was lovely as well.

A really good, neighbourly Italian. Fantastic food not trying to be too fancy just great ingredients cooked perfectly and you definitely get value for money. I wish they would open a restaurant in my town!

Has been my favorite restaurant for 10 years and never disappoints. Love that they still change up the specials so I always have something new to try. But thankfully they keep the classics.

We were a party of 3 and all of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Everything was beautifully cooked. Service was fast, friendly and efficient- without feeling rushed in any way.The tiramisu was the equal of anywhere. As other people mention, the parking is difficult - but this place is worth a bit of a walk. I'd recommend reserving. The pricing makes this place excellent value for money.

Got taken here for dinner with friends and it was a lovely surprise. Excellent food, friendly service and really good value for money. It's great to find a down to earth Italian restaurant which just serves good food in a friendly atmosphere - too many restaurants have lost that and try to be too trendy

We went for a lunch sample menu on a Saturday. The food was perfectly balanced and not one course disappointed. The portions initially may look small, but with the number of courses and the flavours that come through, it is satisfying and scrumptious, and we did not leave hungry, like some people have mentioned. I feel people making those comments don't actually appreciate beautifully crafted and balanced meals. I also chose the additional cheese board, which I expected to be quite small, but it wasn't. There was a very good amount of cheese for the extra cost. I would definitely opt for it again. We opted for the wine pairing to go with the courses, and they were perfectly matched to either complement or cut through the flavours. The staff member explaining the wine was very professional and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was great, in the gorgeous wonky listed building. It has been decorated and celebrated well. Love the exposed brick and the large fireplace. The staff were knowledgeable, kind, and very attentive. We will definitely be going back for an evening meal.

Last went a couple of years ago when I would have rated it 5 stars.. this time it's a 4. Reasons, although it cost less than our previous visit, we felt the quality of the food had been reduced to cater for that. Every mouthful on our previous visit was met with smiles due to the flavours of each dish from the tasting menu.. this time this didn't happen. Although good, starters definitely didn't have the wow factor at all, normal in taste just that they were fine, a 3 out of 5. Main courses were good though, still no wow feeling like previous visit, but still lovely (4 out of 5) and desserts were similar very good but not outstanding, 4 out of 5. Add in a £60 bottle of wine and a service charge, it makes it a pricey day for a good meal.. not a memorable meal which we had 2 years ago, which cost more but made us want to come back at a future date.. unfortunately our recent experience disappointed us slightly and we will have to go somewhere else to try and get that feeling again.

Post Christmas Present to each other. Excellent food and Wine, it deserves its Michelin Star.the staff are very friendly and helpful Totally recommend we shall return..

Great meal with a few things that could be improved. I thought the food was overall great, but one small part in each of two courses were over-salted. Wine list great. The service was young and inexperienced and not to the standard at other Michelin starred restaurants. The need to invest more time educating the staff maybe. In contrast, the manager was really helpful and knowledgeable about the food and wine. Atmosphere was ok, room a bit big maybe to encourage this or maybe that we were located at one end of it?

My daughter is reading law at Newcastle and being a second year is living in Jesmond, therefore I found a boutique hotel that would suit all my needs. Great bed, beautiful room and easy access to her house and the Dene. I wanted to relax and enjoy my time alone too whilst I was there. For runners there is no better hotel. Quiet, safe, stunning building and friendly staff. The bar and restaurant very ambient. I think I would never stay anywhere else again.

The staff were mostly friendly. Only one member of staff was abrupt during breakfast service. The classic room (room 30) was clean and fully stocked with everything we needed. However, the bed wasn't the most comfortable and the toliet squeaked when you sat on it and I am only 56kg. Additionally, the fan coming from the kitchen was beneath our window and rather annoying as this was a consistant noise. The breakfast had a wide range of food options and was delicious! Overall, we would stay again, however would probably book the deluxe room. Free parking was a bonus with only a 10 minute walk to the metro station.

We had a high tea bridal shower here and the venue was so beautiful and perfect for the event. Shout out to the events team, especially Kayleigh, who helped plan the day. Communication from them was great and they were so helpful with dietary requirements and setup of the private room. The high tea itself had great variety and was delicious! The service staff were really attentive too. Would highly recommend as the price was decent and received a lot. Thank you!

The service was amazing - we really enjoyed the complimentary mango lassi shots and a delicious chickpea ball. The waiting staff were extremely attentive and friendly. Only 1 star less for food as taste-wise there was something missing but couldn't put finger on what it was. We are fussy buggers though! Other than that, spot on and will be back. Thanks!
