Amazing night at Golf Fang. From the moment we were greeted by Rich to the bar service it was clear we were going to have a good time. The girl working the course entrance was very friendly too and ran through all the information we needed! The course itself makes for lots of laughter and is very engaging, alongside all the different cocktail and food options I don’t think there is any room for improvement. Get yourself there, fully recommend .

Amazing! Had a very good experience, would highly recommend for dates or time out with friends. Harvey our server was friendly but professional as was all staff. Very unique golf course, would not recommend for kids, it is certainly for adults. DJ playing very good music. 40 ounce burgers and fries were amazing and out of this world. Very good cocktail and drinks menu, unique but balanced. Would certainly come back as it’s worth the price which is reasonable.

5 Stars - Exceptional Experience at Gold Fang Newcastle! I recently had the pleasure of visiting Golf Fang, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was welcoming and the staff were incredibly professional. What truly stood out was Bryony—her attention to detail, warmth, and dedication to ensuring our experience was perfect made all the difference. She went above and beyond, anticipating our needs and making us feel like VIPs throughout our visit. The venue itself is beautiful, with a wonderful atmosphere and fantastic amenities. I can’t recommend it highly enough, and I will definitely be returning! A huge thank you to Bryony for making our time there unforgettable. If you're looking for a memorable experience, look no further than Golf Fang!

First time playing here and really enjoyed it. Great mix of hole difficulty and set upon some tremendous views. Course was well maintained with excellent greens too. Will definitely be back.

I recently had the pleasure of playing a round of golf at this course, and I can confidently say it was an enjoyable experience that I plan to repeat. I teed off early, at 7 am, which gave me the advantage of a peaceful morning round. The course itself is a great mix of challenge and enjoyment, with some tricky obstacles and varied terrain that keep things interesting. Despite the challenges, the fairways and roughs are quite forgiving, making it accessible for golfers of all skill levels. The only downside to my experience was the presence of the greenkeepers. While it's understandable that course maintenance is crucial, they were preparing the greens and bunkers during my round and didn't make an effort to move out of the way or allow me to play safely past them. This was a bit of a distraction, but I must note that all the staff I interacted with were very friendly. Overall, I had a great time on this course and look forward to returning soon.

This place is incredible ! Played an open day with my brother for only a tenner. And honestly some of the views on this course are unreal. This is definetly a must play and we played superb in tough condition in a pairs event which make things nicer too. Honestly visit this stunning 5 star course if you get a chance !

Played the Glen on a very windy but sunny Saturday morning first week of November. Course was in great condition with almost all tees and greens in play (a few par 3s had mats). Visually without doubt one of the most stunning courses I've played in Scotland with several of the holes playing towards the sea giving a fantastic views. Many memorable holes on the course and par 3 13th is not one you'll forgot easily. All the staff in bar and pro shop were very friendly and our 4 ball had a great day and were only disappointed about the fact we hadn't played the course until now. Will definitely be back again soon hopefully when its slightly less windy but thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.

What a fantastic cliff top golf course in one of the most perfect settings. The course was superbly presented in wonderful condition. The views from all around the course are stunning, especially the 13th hole. From a high tee down to a green on the edge of a beach with view of Bass Rock out at sea. The pro staff and the bar staff were great. You will regret not visiting this course.

We have had a super weekend with our dog at this very impressive looking hotel. We got past the debacle of room 45 above the spa, and it’s not an exaggeration to say that room was hotter than the sauna. When we were taken to the room it had a portable fan running, so if you know there is an issue why put guests in there? Consequently on the first night we got very little sleep. They did move us to another room for the remaining 2 nights which was much better. We ate in the Cloisters restaurant twice and it was superb. The pool area is lovely as is the steam room, but the jacuzzi is dated and not warm enough. Think they will be improving this soon? Staff are friendly, big shout out to Nick who was great. Can recommend this hotel but ask not to be put above the spa?

I can’t begin to cover how amazing this experience was! Everybody we came into contact with was lovely, from Linda and Elias in the dining room, to Desmond who showed us to our room, to Tracy who greeted us and got us settled when we arrived! The rooms are immaculate - beds like clouds, gorgeous bathtub, bathrobe and slippers provided. It had everything you could ever desire. We were so fortunate to come in Nov after they had started setting up for Christmas. What a special stay we had! Thank you to everyone at Matfen Hall for a wonderful experience!

Today was on the back of heavy rain overnight, so I was prepared for the standing water and preferred lies. Since its winter the temporary greens are difficult and I wish we could have played the whole course. Saying that, I still really enjoyed the course. Its very varied and difficult. Really well maintained too. The 17th hole crossing over a previous fairway is very weird. I don't understand that at all. But great views throughout. Really enjoyed it but think the course needs a bit of redesign
Rating: 5 / 5
First time I've played here and all 4 of us were very impressed. Course is in immaculate condition and set among some great scenery. We had really nice weather too which always helps. All finished off with some delicious freshly prepared food in the well appointed and friendly clubhouse. Knowledge of the greens and fairways is necessary to make good scores so I think we'll be having a return visit while it's fresh in our heads.

Great course, quite difficult. Picturesque, but long. Really friendly staff, and the food was lovely, tasted nice, presented well, and good portions. We've booked up for two games here next year .

Popped in here for a quick lunch, had burger with haggis, and partner had steak sandwich. Both were lovely, steak lovely and soft, the burger was tasty with haggis and brown sauce. Only downside was frozen fries instead of homemade chips. But good value all the same

First time out here, lovely course, a very good test of golf, some long 4 & 5's, slippery greens and add a bit of wind into the mix and you have a score wrecker. Some nice closing holes to try and get an off track score back, drove the green on the last, 7 foot putt for and eagle and lipped it, still, a bird will do. Bought some new shoes at the very well stocked pro shop, staff were great too. Price wise, a little on the higher side of the average course around these parts, though for what you get happy to pay it if I am honest. happy to go back and recommend it.

We were lucky enough to eat in the Clubhouse recently, on the 1st birthday day of "Nine & Dine" the club caterers. A nice welcome, good food & great service as usual. We were even lucky enough to win a prize in the birthday raffle. Best wishes to them for the future.

The Colt course blew me away, wasn't expecting it to be THAT good! Fantastic venue, great value and friendly staff/atmosphere. The food and drinks are reasonably priced and the dining in the evening is exceptional quality. Rooms are amazing as well. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Fantastic course for the serious golfer. Rooms were outstanding and club house luxurious. Went on trip with golf club in October and weather held up but couldn't afford it as a visitor though

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Huge rooms but very warm and cosy. Superb bathroom with gorgeous roll top bath & walk in rain forest shower,. Fantastic lighting throughout. Great walks around the golf course and fantastic food in Restaurant 19 We will be back again very soon. Loved it.
Rating: 5 / 5
The location was tremendous. The lodge was better than I anticipated. The service by the staff was excellent and that little added touch of being picked up at the lodge and taken No 19 restaurant and then taken back afterwards. For a weekend away you couldn’t pick a better spot and if you are into your Golf I can’t think of a better combination…. The choice and quality of food was excellent and certainly value for money We will be back.
Rating: 4 / 5
Played both courses and stayed overnight. Lovely room, good food, good practice facilities. The Colt is the better course but it’s very hilly, the Filly course is a good second course. Both have tricky greens. The price of drinks is ridiculous and that’s my main reason for a 4 star review. £52 for a bottle of red wine !! That spoilt the stay for myself and those that travelled with me.

We go with a friend who is a member of the golf club so I'm not sure if its a public bar and lounge , I think the public can go in for drinks and food 🤷♂️ We went there for Sunday breakfast which was well cooked and presented by friendly staff . It is a lovely light, bright and airey room which is quite large and has lovely big picture windows that overlook the golf course and the 18th hole . It doesnt get much better on a nice sunny Sunday morning sitting chatting with friends in nice surroundings

Booked up several months ago for an open competition and have been looking forward to it. Played today and it didn't disappoint. Superb golf course with lots to offer all standards of golfer. After heavy rain yesterday the course was definitely wet in places and the fairway bunkers were GUR. Everything else was good though including the impressive clubhouse. A return visit is definitely on the bucket list.
Rating: 5 / 5
Cracking course, played the winter open so difficult to judge overall course conditions, but layout, variety, clubhouse, all excellent, a little expensive in the clubhouse but this is about right for a club such as Wynyard, would love to come back and play it in the summer

what a great course. Some of the scenery is amazing, especially around the castle. The condition of the course was great. The clubhouse was very welcoming, and the staff were great. If you're up in this area and can get on, it's worth it
Rating: 5 / 5
Possibly the greatest value round of golf in England. Superb views, enjoyable holes and its condition improves every year with tweaks and additions to the course. It really is a treat to play here. A warm welcome in the clubhouse for golfers and walkers alike.
Rating: 5 / 5
Great course with the Castle in the background adding a little bit of magic. Fairways are hard & fast, so you get a good run on your ball, there are rabbit holes about so watch your step. Greens were true. Food & coffee at the shop was also good, I believe they are changing their menu next week. Highly recommend if in the area.
Rating: 5 / 5
Played today and paid £41 for breakfast roll & coffee, 18 holes and soup/sandwich & chips Quite honestly the best value for such a high quality course. Extremely lucky that it was unseasonably warm and the weather helped showcase this unbelievably unique set up. Tees and greens all great!
Rating: 5 / 5
Great course in great condition. The bacon sandwich was a very good start to the day. Weather was a bit windy and chilly but thankfully rain free. However, unfortunately my golf game was not up to the test and I did not play very well on the links. The journey home was dreadfully slow due to delays on the A1. I would recommend this course as a good challenge and advise players to keep to the right to avoid lots of trouble on the left
