We were attending a show at the theatre next to this restaurant. I've read the reviews and it looked promising. It did exceed our expectations. We ordered few vegan dishes. There was a hiccup with one of the dishes, which we thought it was vegan but it had butter and cream. The waitress didn't tell us. They apologised and offered a second dish . I must confess my favourite one was the dessert. The warm chocolate brownie with ice-cream. The atmosphere is very nice. Loved the style and decor.

Delicious vegan food. Loved the plant based chick’n and prawn. The curry was particularly tasty. The naan slender, stretchy, and light. Service is prompt and no nonsense. Understated chant like music adds to the ambiance. The place is also a yoga and meditation centre.

What an incredible restaurant. We went for my birthday meal and were so pleasantly surprised that every single fish was impeccable. Full of flavour, beautifully presented and the high quality of the ingredients was very noticeable. It is family owned business and you can really tell the attention to detail from amazing customer service, beautiful atmosphere and to the most delicious dishes. This will definitely be my regular spot from now on. Highly recommend!

We attending a work event at the restaurant and weren't disappointed. We were entertained with great music, cocktails and of course the excellent food. Highly recommend this place for a cozy meal for two or even a group of people dining in.

Mangia Bene

18 Chapel Market, London N1 9EZ, UK | Italian Restaurant
P: 020 7278 2825

Rating: 4.6 (819) Price Level:

I recently had the most delightful experience at MANGIA BENE! The risotto I ordered was absolutely phenomenal. Not only was it cooked to perfection, but the flavors were so rich and satisfying. What truly impressed me was when the chef himself came to our table to ensure everything was to our liking. That personal touch made the meal even more memorable. The aroma wafting from the kitchen was intoxicating, setting the perfect ambiance for a delightful dining experience. And to top it off, I requested to add crispy pancetta on top of my risotto, and the chef agreed immediately, further enhancing the dish. The combination of incredible food, attentive service, and inviting atmosphere made for an unforgettable evening. I can't wait to return!

A hidden gem! My son and I were just going for a quick bite to eat but ended up at a hidden gem. Incredibly nice host and the food was excellent. We ordered pizza and garlic bread with cheese. The garlic bread was almost a meal in itself. We will be back to spend another night with food and drinks here!

The lobster and prawns spaghetti was cooked to perfection, cooked fresh and not reheated absolutely loved it, little miss ordered spaghetti bolognese and she ate it all and some of ours. Will visit again and try other stuff on the menu.

Terra Rossa

139 Upper St, London N1 1QP, UK | Italian Restaurant
P: 020 7226 2244

Rating: 4.6 (969) Price Level:

first time trying Terra Rossa and we had a very good lunch experience. service was exceptional, as was ambience. for food we had staples from Salento: fave e cicoria, panzerotti, orecchiette alle cime di rapa, pappardelle al ragù di cinghiale, pasticciotto (all accompanied by a good glass of negroamaro and taralli). the pasta were excellent. a bit less convincing was the pasticciotto, which was served fridge-cold and the pastry was not really "crumbly" (maybe used butter rather than lard, not sure). overall it was a very good, hearty lunch served with a wonderful smile

WOW! What an incredible experience at Terra Rossa! Every dish the 6 of us had was simply perfect - rich flavours, fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation. They has brilliant options for vegans (2 of us were), with separate vegan and gluten-free menus. We celebrated my husband's parents anniversary at the restaurant and had fantastic service throughout our meal - it truly made for a special day!

Everything was authentic, except for the food. The service was lovely from an enthusiastic host, he made good suggestions and made us feel welcome. The entree of Burrata was delicious although could have used some bread to come with. My wife ordered the seafood risotto but said the seafood didn’t feel fresh and the rice was perhaps undercooked. I felt the same for my boar pasta dish, the meat was great but the pasta was undercooked. The atmosphere was great and intimate for our table of 2, however with the food quality - I’m not sure it justifies the more than 120 pounds for an entree, two mains and two drinks.

Ate here one night with my family and was so good we came again not even 24 hours later. The pizza and pasta are absolutely divine. We all agreed the last time we ate pizza this good was when we lived in Italy. Please do yourself a favor and stop by - service is lovely and atmosphere is cozy and comforting. An islington must eat!

We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The service was quick, and the staff went above and beyond, even offering water for our dog. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming, but the real surprise was the amazing pizza called Terra Rossa - far better than we expected to find on a high street in London. We'll definitely be coming back!

Liman Restaurant

60 Penton St, London N1 9PZ, UK | Turkish Restaurant
P: 020 3583 6442

Rating: 4.7 (1406) Price Level:

Wow! as we enjoyed our meal, we reminisced about how dramatically the food scene has changed in London the past 40 years. This is an incredible restaurant that delivers incredibly tasty Turkish food. If you are a lamb lover, this is the place to go and they know how not to overcook their chops and skewers. The cold meze were also excellent and our server Anil was amazing.

What a gorgeous restaurant. Truly outstanding! Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautifully decorated and furnished room. Excellent food & drink. I made a small plates dinner from the starter menu: Mixed cold meze of 5 dips/salads Calamari Falafel balls A basket of bread arrived too. Two glasses of Pinot noir and a small bottle of sparkling water. It was delicious and a joy to eat. I will be back and I will try more of the menu.

We had a lovely family dinner at Liman. The food was excellent. The lamb shank and the moussaka are truly their signature dishes. Elle, the hostess was kind enough to recommend them and really took care of me and my family. Will definitely dine here again. The experience was wonderful.

Service was exceptional and so nice! I would recommend making a reservation. The atmosphere was lovely as well. The presentation of the food was great. We got the braised aubergine, the lamb chops and the lamb shank. Everything was yummy. The lamb chops could have been slightly more tender, the lamb shank could be slightly more salty. The meal came with bread. Lovely place and would come back :) aubergine was yummy!

This restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience, with a few standout dishes worth highlighting. The Beef Vine Leaves, as a starter, are a must-try. They are flavourful and beautifully prepared. The Lamb Chops were cooked to perfection, juicy, and packed with flavour, making them the highlight of the meal. However, the experience wasn’t without flaws. The baklava with pistachios was a letdown, lacking the freshness one would expect. The ambience could also be improved, as the bright white ceiling lights detract from the authentic atmosphere the restaurant aims to create. Service was a bit slow, likely due to a large group dining at the time, but it didn’t overshadow the overall meal. I’d definitely return to explore more of the menu, as the quality of the main dishes shows great promise.

Le Sacre Coeur

18 Theberton St, London N1 0QX, UK | French Restaurant
P: 020 7354 2618

Rating: 4.5 (920) Price Level:

Visited this place as I saw this on the TV show Derek and curiosity got the better of me. Everything was the same which was good to see. It’s very well priced. It was a quiet night for tables when I went on a Wednesday night which was good as it felt like the food had a good amount of time and effort into it from the chefs, relaxing environment. Very well welcomed from the staff there too. Good to see an independent delivering top quality food for a good price. Don’t bother with the franchises and tourist traps. Recommend and will be back!

Le Sacre Coeur is my absolute favourite French restaurant in Angel! I’ve been eating here regularly for the last ten years, and probably have tried most dishes on the menu. They do a delicious range of á la carte dishes (along with tasty specials), which in my experience has been consistently great. Of which, my favourites are the escargot, frog legs, jarret de porc, coq-au-vin, and bœuf Bourguignon. The service is always super friendly, accommodating, and warm. This perfectly complements the relaxed and cozy atmosphere, making it a perfect place both for nice celebrations, as well as for a casual weekday dinner. I will no doubt keep coming back! This is a highly recommend French restaurant in Angel.

Every mouthful was delicious! From the whipped truffle butter accompanying the focaccia right through to the dark ganache with burnt orange and white chocolate crumb, every dish was delicious. A great choice of dishes to suit all dietary requirements, our group had a vegetarian, pescetarian and non pig and alcohol, yet we were all able to find amazing options for every course. The mushroom duxelles was magnificent that my hubby kept stealing it, his beef sirloin was perfect but the masterpiece was the confit duck. Loved the ganache to finish and the pistachio baked Alaska was incredible. 35 for 2 courses and 42 for 3, £60 each including drinks and service which was great considering the quality. Service was prompt and unhurried at the same time allowing us to have a really good catch up with friends. Highly recommend, intimate setting with open kitchen.

Frederick's

P: 020 7359 2888

Rating: 4.6 (1152) Price Level:

We headed to Frederick’s for a dinner with friends after seeing all the rave reviews, and it did not disappoint! Conveniently located near Angel station, it’s super easy to get to. Every dish we tried was delicious, but the standout for us was definitely the Welsh lamb chops—so tender and packed with flavor. The fresh and crisp vegetable salad was also a hit. The ambiance was cozy, and the service was top-notch. I can’t recommend this gem of a restaurant enough to anyone in London!

Frederick’s is the perfect spot for a date night. The decor is elegant, and the vibe is warm and intimate. We had the scallops to start—beautifully cooked. The chateaubriand was my favorite, and it was very perfectly done. The sweet potato fondant as a side was a great addition. Service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Came to this restaurant with friends for a gathering. It feels like it has been operating for a long time and is a traditional British restaurant. The location is fairly easy to find. What I like the most is the environment—it is very beautiful. The backyard is a forest, and we even saw someone hosting a birthday party there. We ordered salads and salmon as appetizers; they were cold dishes with a slightly sour taste. For the main course, we had steak that was charred on the outside and tender on the inside. The dessert was a classic called Eton Mess. Overall, I am quite satisfied. Considering the environment, it offers good value for money.

For our anniversary dinner, we went to Frederick’s near Angel on a friend’s recommendation, and it was such a great choice! The sign at the entrance said ‘family-run since 1969,’ so you know this place has some history. The vibe inside is amazing, almost like walking through an art gallery. There’s even a big garden in the back, and with the romantic lighting at night, it’s the perfect date spot. I loved the Salt & Pepper Squid starter, especially with the sweet chili sauce—it was so good! The Chargrilled Veal Rump was super tender and packed with flavor too. And the service? So attentive and thoughtful. All in all, it was the perfect dinner at Frederick’s, and I’ll definitely be coming back!

Noci Islington

P: Not available

Rating: 4.5 (1473) Price Level:

Been there twice, and loved the pasta both times! The focaccia is a bit dense, but the garlic in there is delicious. The tonno vitello was good, just like I remember having some in Switzerland. The arancini’s were delicious, highly recommend as well as the fritto misto. Pasta wise my favourite is definitely the pork and veal ragu, the sweetness and saltiness of the cheese is amazing. The mushroom ravioli and the prawn raviolo were alright just lacking a little bit of flavour. But I still really like this restaurant and will come back again!

Food was nice, but staff were better. Particularly, Ash was extremely helpful and he gave us advice on different flavours of the desserts, which was our highlight: peach and olive oil cake with *pistachio ice cream* (we don’t like coconut)

Overall the food were good but the portion was small considering the price. I had the fried chicken with potato pie, it tasted fantastic and I love the sauce. However it’s around £16 for just one piece of chicken and one potato pie with two eggs. Honestly I’m not full after this meal and have to go near by shops for snacks🥲 Plus the size of cappuccino was also bit crazy compared to other brunch in London…..

Visited for a spot of lunch with work colleagues. Whilst the lunch menu seemed small the choices were very good. Not tonnes of meat options but maybe that's just my preference 😁 Gypsy Hill on draught was welcomed. I had the eggs Benedict which was a relatively good sized portion but was very very well presented and tasted great. Very impressed. Highly recommend. Also they have outdoor seating which looks great to sit and watch the world go by.
