Really gorgeous French restaurant in Kentish. The atmosphere feels relaxed chic and tables are spaced nicely. Service attentive and friendly. Drinks Wine selection is good, cocktails very good (we had aperol spritz & the sour epicé, a Mezcal sour, which I thoroughly recommended. Food Between four we shared the deep fried dauphinois (divine), baked st. Michelin, and then shared the sides with our mains of green beans in garlic, braised red cabbage & two frites portions (one with aoli, one with garlic butter). All the mains were divine, the duck was cooked to perfection and the mushroom ragout was incredibly flavoured. The steak was also excellent and served to our liking. While portions are on the smaller side - and it would be nice that the meals came with a sauce as quite dry otherwise - they do not skimp on the desserts. You'll be hard pressed to find as comforting a rhubarb crumble as you will here, & the creme brulée had a satisfying snap & excellent flavour. For a filling and delicious taste of France, you really can't go wrong here.
Lovely French restaurant, really friendly service and good quality French food with an interesting menu, serving some classics and some more interesting choices. We came here for a pre-Christmas dinner and it was perfect. Great atmosphere and a cosy setting. Would definitely recommend this place, especially the chocolate mousse and the cocktails.
Have been twice now, first for a drink and small plates and then dinner inside. Both times delicious. The dauphinoise potatoes and chocolate mousse (not pictured) are a must. Best espresso martini if you like it slightly more sweet and The Fortess won’t disappoint.
Fantastic French cafe with great flavours and a great cocktail menu and mixologist. Tastes and textures were on point and served perfectly. Size of portions were just about right for the price charged. The restaurant is also dog friendly!
Mentioned a couple of dishes but had a number of others, each one was perfect 👌🏼 great wine selection, so wonderfully atmospheric and enchanting as were all of the team who looked after us. Couldn't fault it, highly recommended and we'll definitely be back. Thank you... a perfect, relaxed evening and exceptional menu. 🙏❤️
