We visited MyUmami for a family meal on a Friday night and it's easy to tell that it's popular - people who hadn't booked had to leave empty-bellied (although you can eat at the counter). There's a good reason for this popularity which is that the food is downright excellent. It's fresh, beautifully presented and absolutely bursting with flavour (apart from the boiled rice but how can you make that interesting?). We very much enjoyed our mixture of sushi and cooked dishes with the only caveat being that we didn't leave feeling quite full enough (and our budget couldn't quite stretch to another round of dishes). Apart from this, and the slightly slow service due to there being perhaps one less waiter than would be ideal, we all remarked on what an excellent meal we'd enjoyed at MyUmami. For a restaurant in a slightly unpromising location they're doing pretty much everything right.

Little gem in East Finchley. Incredible flavour and very good and fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is very cozy and relaxed for a casual dinner night. Can't wait to go back and try the other dishes on the menu.

I feel very lucky to have a local restaurant where it feels like a “treat”. An inventive menu, the mackerel with mango salsa was so good we ordered another serve! This is not fast food, you’re gonna have to chill out, this place is busy and quality sometimes takes time, I’m happy to wait, sit and chat with my company. I’m not sure what people are talking about portion size wise, they feel consistent with most of sushi joints. A gem of a place, you could see the place thriving around Soho, a really nice vibe.

Family meal on a Thursday evening. The food was as ever fantastic - everything fresh and flavoursome - we chose a combination of the constantly changing daily specials and dishes from the a la carte menu. Service great. Just a pity there weren't a few more tables occupied. Will be back soon!

Wow! This place was a surprise! Hidden gem, quality and level that I would expect from a central London restaurant. Still it was not pretentious or overly pricey. Great local venue with exciting and very tasty dishes. We definitely recommend it!
