“We went for a family celebration meal for my daughter's birthday (midweek on an evening). It's a massive place, nice looking. The atmosphere isn't great when there aren't many people. The food was brilliant. The best steak that I've had outside of America. Service was sometimes good but it took a while for mains to arrive and ages to get the bill even though it was quiet. They then had the cheek to automatically add a 'Service Charge', although, to be fair, they did point this out and removed it but I do hate the fact that these places do this, especially when they don't have excellent service.”

“An incredible meat feast! I could hardly fault a thing with my meal nor the service. The 'Full House' burger was top tier. A mouthwatering stack of chunky beef patties which had superb flavour, tasty pulled pork and bacon as well as thick wedges of brisket. The brisket was a tad dry in places so a little chewy but had amazing flavour from the smoker. The bun was sweet and nicely buttered but fell apart quite easily and was also a bit dry. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite though. The sweet potato fries were great and the coleslaw was some of best I've ever had. I also had a half rack of BBQ ribs. These were really good value for the amount I got. They were also up close to the best I've ever had. Very little fat and the meat was lean but had a nice crop coating from the grilling. It's not a cheap place to eat but you do get a lot for your money so perfect for a rare treat.”

“Having ignored this place for a few years for no particular reason I finally gave the place a try on my latest visit home. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. In the space of a week I came here four times, for drinks and food.A Cuban themed restaurant and bar looking very smart and hitting way above anything else Wakefield has to offer. The drinks, of which I had several margaritas over the different visits, were the best in Wakefield. The food was absolutely gorgeous (great choice of varied dishes). Service was friendly, helpful and professional. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality. I imagine at peak times the place would get very busy so for meals it might be best to book in advance. They also have a terrace bar and also a private dining room in the old vault which doesn't cost any extra but booking advised. They also have live music in the evenings occasionally.I really can't fault this place, it really is one of the best restaurant/bars in Wakefield. Fourth visit... Everything still amazing apart from the margarita I had, not sure the bar person knew how to make it, another member of staff gave her a quick run through but it didn't taste the greatest and the presentation wasn't as good as previous visits. No doubt I'll be back to try again in the future. Fingers crossed. Fifth visit... Food still amazing, service still brilliant (lady with piercings, she was amazing, friendly, helpful and welcoming),the manager still makes a great margarita. Cheers.”

“My first visit and have to say it was beautiful. Beef bourguignon was amazing as was the venison pie. Both came with the best mash I’ve ever had. Service was outstanding. All our table was happy with their choices. We were so full after main courses so couldn’t manage a dessert but will definitely book again. 👍”

“We went after 2 on Saturday when the mad rush of lunch time had ended. As we had my grandson, we had to sit in the children's area. There were a lot of tables which needed cleaning and had food all over the floor from previous visiting children. We had to ask for a table to be wiped over, the bar assistant did this for us as the servers appeared a bit overwhelmed (and grumpy, one older lady said its not her area to the guy behind the bar) The food was nice as it usually is, just a little dry on some of the carvery options as it had been under the heat lamps for a little while. I chatted to the lovely lady who carved the meat. She had only been there a few weeks. She was very friendly and lotto talk to which was OK as it was quiet and no one waiting behind me. My grandson loves the play area, which entertains him whilst we wait for food to arrive. We used the app to place the order, and the carvery tickets arrived with the drinks. The guy behind the bar is always really lovely and helpful every time we visit. He can't do enough for you and always has a smile. (He has a large red beard, nice chap) There are plenty of parking spaces in the free car park. I had the small carvery, which is very filling, especially if you're like me and can make shutters on the edge of the plate and pile it well 😉. There are two gravy options, I like the plain meat gravy, which is lovely and thick. My grandson also had a carvery, and my daughter had hunters chicken. She's quite a fussy eater but this is one of her go to meals when we visit.”

“Breakfasts are really filling tried to tackle the mega but failed due to having a steak at same venue the evening before. Couple of days later I opted for the standard which was plenty. Friendly staff good choice of dishes and right next to a canal so brilliant views. If I'm up this way again will definitely return.”

“We had a lovely meal and the food is fabulous. The room and acoustics are really noisy, making it really difficult to hear conversations even when the restaurant is only half full. We think it would be so good if the management would look into what they could do to improve this, as it would make the experience so much better for customers. Another restaurant we know did this and the difference was amazing.”
