Great place yo pick up a sandwich. We have called in a few times, and the sandwiches are made to order, using really fresh ingredients and have always been really good with enough filling. The sausage rolls are excellent and really great value for money. The people running it are really friendly and helpful, so all in all, it's a lovely local sandwich sop and deli.

Excellent food and service. I like how the Victorian charm of the building and its old timey feel contrast but somehow complememt the innovative menu! Each sandwich on the menu has been thoughtfully put together, and every order is made fresh with care. 10/10 would recommend.

Hearty sandwiches and superb brownies. Samosas and sausage rolls are amazing too. They do a good value salad box. Recent addition of an ice cream machine which will come into it's own this summer. My 6 year old rates this as excellent. Coffee is ok. Sells all sorts of sweets, crisps and various ready meal things. Really friendly family team behind the counter. I'm looking forward to when they start doing hot sarnies again.

This place is sensational. Authentic Italian dining experience. It’s super cosy and the food is quite simply fantastic. The owner and chef Luigi comes out in to the restaurant and talks you through his menu, it’s a really special touch. Service is great, front of house team are really knowledgable and very friendly. Need to make sure you book in advance as it’s really popular and rightly so.

By far the best authentic Italian restaurant for miles! Wonderful food, fabulous service and a really special atmosphere. This small but perfectly formed restaurant is such a treat and superb value for money. The Genovese pasta was beyond delicious and I’m still thinking about the salted caramel dark chocolate torte. Food so good, I didn’t want it to end! Luigi and Sam continue to create real magic here and we’ll be back very soon!

Friendly and helpful service. We enjoyed our meal! Beware ordering too much as quantities generous! Not much in terms of sweets, some rasmalai kulfi or gulab jamon would have been good. Nice mango lassi and relishes. A selection of ice creams available (the coconut one was nice). BYOB which is great! Highly recommended! Returned today for another lovely meal!

Galo's kitchen

1A Railway Rd, Ilkley LS29 8HQ, UK | Italian Restaurant
P: 01943 816400

Rating: 4.8 (179) Price Level:

My meal was flipping marvellous. Owner, when you read this can you comment on where you got your chairs from as they were usually comfy and I'd like some for my kitchen. Antipasti platter to share, so a selection of meats, olives and breads. Fabulous, what is not to like. Could have eaten that on my own it was so delicious. Carbonara. Yes I know it is very 90s, bit I happen to like it and it was cooked UK style to perfection. Home made tiramasu. Perfect. I don't give many eateries 5 star and this hit that balance between excellent service, a reasonable price FOR the quality of food. It is not cheap but it is proportionate for the quality of the food. This is my 3rd visit and won't be my last. Parking available nearby. Wheelchair accessible. All diets catered for. Ps I have just hit 8.8 million views. Very pleased with myself.

Beautiful little Italian restaurant in Ilkley. Great wine list, and we enjoyed glasses of the Italian Soave. Staff were friendly, and there was a lot of delicious dishes to choose from on the menu! We opted for the calamari and zucchini fritti and the mussels starter, followed by steak, and a seafood pasta. Seafood was good in quantity and size, fresh and flavoursome. The 2- or 3-course set menu is very good value.

The Ilkley Cow

Rating: 4.6 (478) Price Level:

The first time I visited was good. I visited for a second time yesterday with my partner and we had an amazing meal. Chicken wings and pork belly for starters - the sauces were great and the pork belly was particularly delicious. We had the sirloin steak which was cooked beautifully. I got fries but my partner's chunky chips were even better. We had crème brûlée for dessert - also great. I had cocktails, which were well made and there was a good selection. The Old Fashioned was particularly good. The staff were pleasant and welcoming, they cleared our plates and took our orders quickly, and were very attentive. Thank you for a wonderful evening - we will return!

This place has been on my visit list for a while and we were not disappointed! Came as a family for a celebration meal at 5pm on a Friday and the place was lovely and quiet, we had one whole side of the restaurant to ourselves more or less the whole time ! We had the sharing platter for starters, everything on it was absolutely delicious, in particular the scotch eggs!! Me and my partner shared the special tomahawk steak for 2 which was to die for with the chimichurri sauce on!!! All the sides were gorgeous too and my little boy loved his kids steak! Highly recommend and would definitely love to return to try more of the menu!! Would like to say our waiter was absolutely lovely too !!!! Thanks 😊

Went for husband's birthday. We were the only people in the restaurant, however this was likely due to it being the day after Mother's Day and a Monday evening. Food was delicious. Mixed sharing platter was excellent, great choice if you can't decide what to order! Both had steaks for main which were cooked well, and the chunky chips were amazing! Also tried some bone marrow gravy which was really rich and tasty. Puddings were brownie and creme brulee which were lovely. Long island iced tea cocktails were also good. Service was excellent, very attentive waiter, however we were the only customers so cannot comment what it is like when busy. Will definitely be returning!

Anniversary weekend, so we thought we would try Ilkley Cow as we both love our food and the ratings looked good and reviews to match it. For starters we ordered the Teriyaki Pork Belly Skewers & Shell on Argentinian Tiger Prawns. The Skewers were delicious, Tiger Prawns taste was nothing amazing but still set a good starting point before mains. Mini Steak Sampler & Glazed Pork Belly for mains. Pork Belly was like butter, melt in your mouth gooeyness with the the crackling on top to finish the layers. The Steak Sampler was good, too much salt flakes covering the plate which for me was a little overpowering on the steak but it’s personal preference as my partner liked it. FYI I thought the chunky chips would be a crispy beast of a chip but sadly not, still tasty just let down when seeing previous images so use that as a reference for the future. Unfortunately we had a slide issue with one of our dishes but after speaking with our waiter who was sincere and apologetic we continued on with our meal with no problems and full bellies. Pictures attached for your reference.

So 7 of us went for the first time on a Sunday night, 4 adults and 3 kids. We all went with the set menu. I have been out for literally thousands of curries, and tbh, I thought it was excellent. The waiter was superb - him and the owner are clearly giving 100% for their customers, and it shows too. Starter - excellent. Main - superb. Deserts - superb. Was I impressed ? YES Would I go back again ? DEFINITELY Give it a try you won’t be disappointed I’m sure..

Absolutely beautiful Indian food. The moment I walked in to order food to take away I was met with very warm and welcoming young lady, very helpful in what I wanted and made good suggestions, the restaurant was busy and felt cosy with a lovely atmosphere, the decor & ambience is lovely and relaxing and no bright horrible lights, very chilled with traditional Indian music playing. Well enough of all that and on to the food, gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous, the meat and chicken lovely and tender and small size pieces instead of huge horrible chunks you tend to get in most takeaway food, the sauces were delicious, butter chicken & rogan josh and korma we tried, really lovely. The onion bhaji starter was very tasty and done just how it should be, the naan breads both plain and garlic were beautiful, soft and lightly crispy in bits, but very soft until the last bite which is very rare from a take away naan, the poppadoms lovely and the garlic chutney dip really tasty along with the others we tried. Most definitely the best Indian take away we have had in a very long time, a must try if your wanted beautiful tasty Indian food. I am looking forward to booking a table and spending a couple of hours trying more of this delicious food 😋😍😁

This restaurant has managed to remain unchanged in its appearance for over 40 years! It’s a wonderful period piece but with a very up to date set menu which managed to please a picky octogenarian and her slightly younger children. The food tastes delicious and the wine list is good value too.

I heard great things about The Queens Head, particularly for their roast dinner - it certainly did not disappoint. We were really well looked after (even after turning up 30 mins late for our table - so sorry again about that!) and the table that my friend and I were sat at was great too. I ordered the pork roast & my pal ordered the S&P squid followed by the roast beef - we both walked away very full & saying the same thing - that was possibly the best roast dinner we have eaten out! The portion sizes were ample, everything seasoned perfectly and great flavours with each element. I mentioned when I booked the table that I was Gluten Free - the Yorkshire pudding and cauli cheese was amended accordingly which was a lovely surprise as you usually just dont get them on your plate at all - so thank you very much for that! All in all a great roast & will 100% be returning.

The Queens Head is exceptional! The menu is excellent, traditional, rustic food that hits the spot. I had chicken and ham pie and I couldn’t fault it! Can’t recommend our lovely village pub enough, oh and the atmosphere was buzzing!

It has an attractive interior design, a pleasant atmosphere and the staff offer their service with with a smile but I was slightly disappointed with the quality of my Sunday roast, it was OK but it didn't meet the standard that I would have expected for the price. Having said that, I would certainly go there again and I strongly recommend it as a pub.
