Had New Year’s Eve meal here. It was one of the best meals we’ve had anywhere, not just Barnsley, anywhere. We both had a two course meal with a bottle of wine and it came in just under £100. I suspect that price would double in a large city centre. Lovely small dining area with a great atmosphere. We will definitely be returning.

It's a lovely, cosy restaurant. The food was great and decent sized portions. The only downside was there was no children's menu and limited ability to accommodate a smaller portion of a standard main meal. There were also no changing facilities that we could see which could be challenging for young families.

A very intimate hidden gem! Perfect for a date night with your lover. Starters - Prosciutto and Mozzarella Main - 12 hour Braised Beef Cheek This is exactly what Barnsley needs! Starter was simple and effective and the beef cheek was super tender and fatty. Delicious. You will enjoy lovely food and won't be out of pocket.

We went for the first time to this restaurant last night and what a gem it is. The food was amazing, the staff are so caring , they checked all night that you were happy with the food, that you had glasses and ice for your drinks as this is a bring your own alcohol restaurant, the atmosphere was fantastic, we can't wait to rebook and visit again. It was 3 hours of being spoilt ,thank you to the staff for a wonderful experience x

This little gem is a must-visit!! From the moment you walk in, you're met with such warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere. The food simply phenomenal — each dish fresh with such exceptional flavours. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making the entire experience feel personal and special. This really is a secret gem in Barnsley. A small but very friendly atmosphere, great host and absolutely delicous food. Would highly recommend you book now as they book up months in advance!

My boyfriend and I came for breakfast and it was really nice, we had a lovely time here. The service, food/drink and atmosphere was wonderful. We’ll look forward to coming back.

Myself and two daughters aged 7 (yesterday) and 4 visited today and received a warm & friendly service. The girls enjoyed their finger sandwiches with crisps and cucumber sticks with milkshakes. I enjoyed the panini and diet coke. To finish the girls had a lovely and generous slice of the orange chocolate cake Great value at £2.50. The tea room is very clean and as road side parking. Definitely recommend.

I popped in for a mini breakfast in September shortly after the opening day. The service was friendly and efficient in a relaxing atmosphere. The meal was exactly what you'd expect from a well established cafe which is praise indeed for a fledgling venture. There was a selection of homemade layer cakes that looked too tempting to ignore, so I took away a generous wedge of coffee cake, which I enjoyed immensely later in the morning. Overall, it was well worth the visit.

My friend and I went to have a chat and a drink on Wednesday and I'm very happy to say that the hosts were so nice and very welcoming. We were so comfortable that we had stayed for over 3 hours without realising! It's bright, clean, prettily decorated and as I said the owners were lovely. I'll be going again for food and delicious cakes. Great service 👍😀

Jimmy absolutely wonderful waiter and has a great sense of humour. Behind the bar staff member very nice and respecting. Chef cooked amazing food and we will definitely go again. Was nearly empty when we arrived and then it filled up quickly and I can see why. New favorite place. Well looked after with being served and very clean. Toilets are very out of the way so cleanliness is great. Very fine dining decor.

We had our meal on a Saturday at 5pm. We could choose our table. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I had ribeye steak my husband had a full rack of ribs in whiskey sauce. For dessert I had sticky toffee pudding. My husband had strawberry meringue. The good was excellent. Very tasty. Would highly recommend.

CHRISTMAS DAY LUNCH. We weren't sure what to expect as we'd not been here before. There were 11 of us booked for Christmas Day Lunch. As soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted and immediately seated at our table and offered drinks. No messing about and the whole restaurant looked beautiful. The staff worked their socks off, were attentive, efficient and very funny. We were made to feel very welcome. As for the food of which there was plenty ..... Top marks to the chefs. It was delicious. Everything that everybody ordered was served beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and really hot. All 11 of us were served all together. The whole atmosphere was superb, we never felt rushed and at no time did any of the staff appear not to want to be working on Christmas Day !! Thank you for all your hard work and for making our Christmas Day Lunch special.

Absolutely stunning service food & atmosphere. This must be the best restaurant for miles that ticks every box. Great value. A busy Saturday evening but the staff so efficient it was as if only us there as we had drinks & food brought with no delays. The chefs are just amazing. The staff so friendly and great sense of humour as another review mentioned. We took family that were visiting from Scotland and they were equally impressed. A massive thanks to all at the Grille for making it a special occasion by going the extra with the surprise birthday 🎂 cake/candle popping brought to our table that Absolutely made our night seeing my sister in law's reaction 😊

Took my friend for lunch today. Very impressed. A lovely setting with a friendly, warm welcome. We chose fish, chips and minted mushy peas from the lunchtime menu. The food was hot, absolutely delicious and served on a warm plate. The choice of sweet is limited but the sticky toffee pudding and fruit crumble were both beautifully presented and again, delicious! The service was outstanding and the pricing is excellent value for money. Overall a lovely birthday celebration for my friend. I highly recommend the Crown and Anchor. We will definitely be back.

I had a beef sandwich and it was good my wife had fish and chips which was excellent. I would definitely recommend you go. The staff were very attentive and knowable they had a great attitude as well which is hard to find these days

A lovely village pub, had a warm welcome and a roaring log fire. Dogs were welcome. A lovely pub menu including several vegan options along with a good selection of beers and ciders. Perfect at the end end of the walk from the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

Cosy pub. Friendly staff. We had Sunday lunch. The Vegetables were cabbage, carrots and cauliflower cheese. We had the beef and chicken. Extra gravy boat. Desserts were tasty. We were spoilt for choice.

We was recommended the cherry tree by the couple whose house we are buying in Clayton West first impressions the pub has a very nice atmosphere cosy good selection of beers and wines etc decent selection of food nothing too fancy just good old Yorkshire style food we had lasagna and gammon steak with all the trimmings really nice staff who were very welcoming

A top quality pub... It is great value for money, friendly staff, warm atmosphere and a generally pleasant environment. If you're looking for a classic pub which is always busy you need to give this place a go. The pub is always lively and they often have entertainment or theme nights, I would highly recommend booking if you plan to visit at the more traditionally busy times as you won't get a table for food.

Really lovely food menu, so much choice, then when I finally managed to decide, I then had to decide if I wanted chips or potatoes with salad or vegetables. We chose the steak pie in an individual dish with a separate plate full of home made chips and mushy peas and we chose the lasagne with a separate plate of home made chips and full amazing salad. Wow.

Excellent quirky little pub, with additional dining areas in the restaurant and conservatory. Excellent menu, so much choice if you enjoy traditional good pub grub. Definitely value for money. Lovely staff, always willing to help. There is an on-site car park, and outdoor seating available. Definitely recommend , carvery on Wednesday and Sunday, normal menu rest of week. Always busy, as it dosent get much better so booking before turning up would be recommend to enusre you get a table

Lovely afternoon meal on nye, so relaxed and great service. Food was amazing. First time visit for a few of our party and they was absolutely blown away with the place, food and service. All staff was so helpful and knowledgeable. Salad bar was to die for for as was all the selection of meats brought to the table. Highly recommended

No words, other than ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! From stepping through the door, the service was awesome warm, friendly and informative with a hint of good humour. Food presentation was superb, and it's a fantastic concept where the different varieties of meat are brought out and hand carved direct to you. Eat as much as you like...will be dangerous as it's so damned good! Prepare to have to restrain yourself, or not...and I wouldn't blame you! Thank you, best and most unique dinner experience in quite some time. Next time I'm in Barnsley, I'll definitely be back. Highly recommend this place for a superb steak and meat fest.

Wonderful concept, the meats are all fantastic 👍🏻 I can highly recommend the fillet mignon and the pork belly with the pineapple in cinnamon! I couldn't eat it all there was that much! Indeed I said no to at least three visits by the 'meat waiter's!

Absolutely brilliant food and service! Manuel was an amazing waiter, we had a brilliant night. All the staff were fantastic though, attentive and friendly. Loads of gorgeous meats, cooked to perfection. The salad bar was so beautiful too. Flavours, no idea how they keep the standard so high but they do well worth the costs.

Absolutely love this place! Food was amazing, had such a big selection on the buffet for 33 quid. all the staff are so friendly, and generous, especially Wilkson who really went over and above to be a great host. So happy to have discovered this Barnsley gem!

Oh I do love this place! My second time here and definitely won't be the last! The food was beautiful! The selection of the salad bar is huge! I'd be happy to pay just to get stuff from there haha but the meat is what we come for! And it was gorgeous! Glad they have a great selection of meats that are cooked rare! And you MUST try their grilled pineapple! So make sure you leave some space for it in the end! 😁 The staff are wonderful too, always smiling always there if you need anything! We came near the closing time and we were the last people in there eating and they asked us a few times if we are happy and would we like them to bring out more of our favourite meats. Make sure you come hungry, because you will leave bursting at the seams! 😁

Incredible pleased with my visit to the restaurant, the staff are absolutely fantastic with people making the dinner experience even more special! I cannot recommend it enough as it’s a fair price for a high quality food experience. Service is absolutely amazing with very friendly people around you all the time well done to the Favela’s team!

I took my father here on Christmas Day, and I’m glad I did. The food and service were faultless. Every course was very enjoyable, and generous portions left us stuffed. The dinner had a relaxed pace with staff making us feel well-looked-after without being rushed or hassled. The only thing I would change is to also have some Turkish dishes on the Christmas Day menu. I’d have loved some Christmas humus! Then it would have been more unique than the standard traditional Christmas menu offered by every place. Thanks for a lovely Christmas dinner!

Incredible taste bud sensation at the Lemon Tree, a Turkish restaurant in Barnsley. Julie and I had a date night called "Safari Meal," where we had a starter, main, and dessert at different restaurants. Talking only about the Lemon Tree, where we began with the starter and our first visit there. Between us, we had "Garlic Mushrooms" in creamy garlic sauce with warm bread and "Sucuk," a Turkish beef sausage kebab with cucumber yogurt dip. One could argue that nothing can go wrong making garlic mushrooms, but as someone who enjoys cooking, I'd disagree. This starter was heavenly perfection, complemented by warm bread. I made the mistake of not asking what type of bread it was because it was so scrumptious, dipping it in the sauce. I was a little concerned that the Turkish Sucuk sausage might be too firm, but my suspicions were unfounded; the meat was tender, with just the right balance of spices. The chap who served us was warm and welcoming and found our date night idea quirky, saying, "Before you go to the next one, have a little walk around." It's given us the idea that, rather than having a traditional Sunday lunch this weekend, we will be having it at the Lemon Tree.
