Phil has completed a range of different jobs for us since 2013. Initially we commissioned him to complete a tricky staircase renovation job-his attention to detail and speed were notable. From that point on Phil has completed a loft conversion and most recently an entire house remodel for us. Phil treats every job as if it was his own home and gives valuable suggestions when required. He is an excellent communicator and his son Tom who works with him has become a capable craftsman in his own right. Phil and his team become part of the family when on site and we cannot recommend them highly enough.

Phil and Tom installed extra storage cupboards and shelves into our eaves and did an excellent job. Cleaned up at the end of each day, so asked them to install new bannister/handrail/skirting boards and flooring. Again arrived on time and provided good quality workmanship. Can't recommend them enough, would not hesitate to contact again.

We were having problems trying to get quotes for some building work. Several builders turned up and then never provided quotes which is frustrating. Chiltern Joinery Service was recommended to us and Phil turned up on time and provided a detailed quote within a couple of weeks. Phil kept us informed about when he could start as he had lots of work already in the pipeline. When Phil started work we were informed about what was going to happen each day and who was turning up the following day and at what time. Most other builders just turn up when they want and don’t keep you informed so this was great to have a builder who communicates with the customer. Phil had lots of good advice and incorporated extra work without any issues. The work was done to a good standard and a reasonable price. The work was to refurbish 4 cold rooms in a 1920 house and make them more energy efficient by adding lots of insulation etc. We can certainly feel the difference now and a friend with a thermal imaging camera proved that the rooms are much warmer than the other rooms in the house. After that Phil and his team installed fitted bedroom and office furniture. Phil will be visiting in the near future to fix a minor problem with the roof, and we’ll be happy to use Phil’s services in the future for another bedroom, bathroom and kitchen.

Just had ten doors supplied and fitted by Wayne. This has transformed my home, and I am delighted with the results. Wayne is professional, knowledgeable, skilled and friendly, and will explain everything in detail. I will definitely use him again for any future work, and have no hesitation in recommending him.

Sorry Wayne for the delay in leaving this review! Can't recommend Wayne enough, he's done a marvellous job replacing our bannister and installing a loft hatch. I'm no joiner myself but I can't fault the end result at all. Pictures are from just after it was installed and before treating/decorating. Wayne was very helpful during quoting, then kept to his agreed dates and was prompt, polite and cleaned up the work area brilliantly. In fact I've no idea how he must've tidied up the mess caused from installing a loft hatch in a 90 year old ceiling! We felt the price was very reasonable and after seeing the end results we were even happier on that front. Would definitely recommend Wayne, in fact I'll definitely be using his services again in the future. Disclaimer: I don't know Wayne personally, simply took a gamble finding him to be local on Google Maps. His communication before the job gave me the confidence to go ahead with the work.

We are very pleased with our staircase renovation completed recently by Richard. From the start, we were given different options and costs for the project. We had a very creaky staircase which was fixed, then oak cladding fitted alongside new oak treads, spindles and handrails. The work was completed to a very high standard and the finished staircase looks amazing. Richard even came back to add an additional top tread. We would definitely recommend Richard. RJ Joinery Review February 2024 & July 2024 Integral Wall Cabinet - July 2024 Having been delighted with Richard's upgrade of our staircase, we commissioned him to create an inbuilt wall unit in our lounge as part of the refurbishment programme. Needless to say the finished oak unit is a masterpiece of design and craftmanship at an extremely competitive price. As you can see from the attached photographs it has become the centrepiece of the new lounge and has met with rapturous approval from everyone who's visited. Thanks also go to Paul Wardman our electrician who oversaw a total rewire in the lounge and installed the LED lighting in the unit. Paul is a brilliant electrician, very professional, friendly and competitive. He has overseen all our electrical work since 2009! Staircase - February 2024 We recently decided we needed to upgrade our very tired staircase. We invited quotes from a variety of specialists across the UK and were staggered at the ridiculous cost for a maximum of 3 days’ work i.e. Neville Johnson £8,500! We had all but given up, but a chance conversation with some close friends suggested we visit, and look at their recent stair renovation, undertaken by Richard of RJ Joinery, Wakefield. Witnessing his craftmanship, alongside a glowing reference, we invited Richard to visit us and supply a quote. We met Richard a few days later, just before Christmas 2023, and were extremely impressed. All existing newel posts, caps, handrail, and supports were to be removed and replaced with genuine oiled oak, unlike a number of 'specialists' who were simply going to clad the existing 47-year-old inadequate staircase. In addition, the open stringer would be replaced with oiled oak veneer ply. Whilst the closed stringers would be clad with oiled oak veneer ply. Furthermore, to add a contemporary feel to the finished article, we decided to install glass panel infills with brushed steel clamps. Finally, the treads and risers would be repaired, and put an end to the squeaky ascent to the first floor! Richard had a busy schedule and confirmed he could start work at the beginning of February 2024, once our pre-arranged redecoration had concluded at the end of January 2024. His quote promptly arrived, and we were delighted to engage a true craftsman at a highly competitive price, and a fraction of what Neville Johnson had quoted! Richard is a perfectionist, thoroughly professional, diligent, punctual, and extremely polite - he loved our fresh coffee! Each day he arrived by 08:15 and left a clean and tidy house on his departure. The whole project was completed in 2.5 days, which is highly impressive. We cannot speak highly enough of Richard, and the results speak for themselves. The outstanding quality of finish and attention to detail went well beyond our expectations. We found Richard a conscientious and skilled carpenter. The staircase was just what we imagined and the cupboard under the staircase was much more than we imagined. It was a big decision for my wife and I to get a kitchen extension and we took a lot of time deciding who to use. When Adam from Feathered Edge came round to our house to discuss what could be done, he left us with a great first impression. Adam made a lot of promises which I'm sure anyone can do, however the job has been completed and not only did he deliver on every promise, his lads have done a better job than we could have ever dreamed of. No words can express how we feel about what a fantastic job Chris has done. From start to finish, working with us to find out exactly what we wanted, and then explaining what he was doing each day every step of the way. It wasn’t a straight forward loft boarding job due to still having the old and very large water tank still up there but honestly it’s amazing what he has done. The transformation blows us away. Chris came at short notice to my house today' to realign my patio doors.it wasn't the best of days to have to do this .He did a great job .very patient considering but he got there in the end.I would certainly recommend using this young man.if you need any joinery work doing.As l certainly would contact him again for any work l need doing.

Chris did an amazing job fitting a new kitchen cupboard into an space that previously housed an integrated washing machine. He also maximised our space by replacing an adjoining cupboard door to give better access to cupboard space (matching to existing kitchen units) and replacing all kickboards and spotlights. Chris has an eye for detail meaning he picked up and fixed other issues as he worked leaving a professional and high quality finish. We are very pleased with his work.

Ryan is a such a lovely chap and his craftsmanship is second to done. He completed a media wall for us which we adore. Fast and tidy onsite and cleaned up at the end. A fair price for a bespoke media wall.

I can’t praise the workmanship enough, from the media wall and glass doors, the job was quality. It’s transformed our living room and given it a whole new look. Some contractors do the job and don’t come back. Ryan was always on hand for any snagging that might have occurred. I ordered 4 wooden gates of varying specifications and they are all spot on and visually amazing. Amazing quality and fantastic customer service. After looking across the Web at average quality Breton garden gates and gate posts, we came across Gary and Steve at Winder Joinery. I spoke to Gary and explained that we needed a custom gate making, and he talked me through the process in great detail, and explained the quality of the wood they use, and the process of the making of the gate. We were so confident in how the process was described, we placed an order for a gate, posts, strap hinges and latch fittings,and advised of a delivery date, and how and what to products to stain it paint it with. When the gate arrived, we were absolutely blown away by the quality. We took their advice, and used Sikkens stain on the gate, and it looks amazing. I fitted the gate three weeks ago, and we have had comments from neighbours and passersby on how good the gate looks. Thanks to Gary and Steve for everything.
