We took David on to fit some new worktops and re tile our kitchen. The kitchen is an awkward shape and thus the accurate cutting and fitting of the worktops was absolutely key to the whole job. We had sourced the Oak worktops ourselves and it did not help David to find that one of the six sections was 'cupped' quite seriously, with all the sections over in width. David didn't let these problems, of my causing, bother him and just got on with his work which was undertaken for the most part single handed. He worked efficiently and quickly and once he had finished you could not tell where the previously cupped section of worktop had been fitted because the joints were so beautifully tight and perfect. I had to marvel at the accuracy and the finish achieved. David organised a separate tiling team to come in after him and these lads were top class also working speedily and accurately in order to complete the work in one day. I believe that he is mainly involved in kitchens but I would happily recommend David to anyone who is looking for a first class cabinet maker's finish to any wood working project. We spoke with Brownhirst Joinery following a neighbour’s recommendation. Dave Hirst came and took time to understand our scope of works and offered some ideas and advice of how we could achieve it. We selected Brownhirst’s and we were really happy with the work carried out. Dave’s attention to detail and desire to make sure the job is of a high standard was really clear. He worked with us and continued to provide ideas and solutions. They manufactured a bespoke wine store for under our staircase and matching stair banister. (Pic). They also provided new oak doors, skirting and also designed and installed boot room cupboards which included a dog shower!! Overall a job really well done that we are really pleased with.

Just had a dishwasher fully integrated by David today, absolutely buzzing with it. David did all the plumbing, fitted a new double plug and fully integrated a new door into an existing cabinet himself. Super quick too. Communication was 10/10 at all times as he ordered our new kitchen cabinet door for us. 100% highly recommend, 5*. Cheers!!

We had a new staircase fitted by Brownhirst Joinery recently. Dave designed, manufactured and installed everything from start to finish. All the guy’s were friendly and polite and always left site clean and tidy at the end of day, any small change or problem was always dealt with straight away resulting in a great finished job.

Ben built us a large bespoke utility cupboard with an adjoining dresser unit, made to match the style and colour of our existing kitchen units. He discussed our requirements, made suggestions, produced diagrams and worked around our builders. We have been very impressed with the quality of work. The soft-close drawers and shelves take a substantial weight of china and bottles! I would definitely recommend Ben and hope to use him again for other projects in the future.

Ian did a fantastic job on fitting my worktop and new sink. He also created a cupboard to hide my boiler and the unsightly pipes. Cupboard has now been painted to match the kitchen units. I am so pleased with it and the attention given. Ian is meticulous.

Ian came to add a cosmetic finish to the joint between a tile and oak floor. He is very professional, protects your property, and keeps you well-informed. He is a meticulous worker who takes pride in his work and makes sure the customer is fully happy with the result. I can highly recommend Ian. He completed a number of jobs for me, including laying laminate flooring, fitting skirting boards, architrave, a door casing and a new internal door. We found Richard a conscientious and skilled carpenter. The staircase was just what we imagined and the cupboard under the staircase was much more than we imagined. It's the little details that make the difference, instead of having an off-the-shelf cupboard handle, Richard made us a wooden one. We would certainly recommend him.

RJ Joinery Review February 2024 & July 2024 Integral Wall Cabinet - July 2024 Having been delighted with Richard's upgrade of our staircase, we commissioned him to create an inbuilt wall unit in our lounge as part of the refurbishment programme. Needless to say the finished oak unit is a masterpiece of design and craftmanship at an extremely competitive price. As you can see from the attached photographs it has become the centrepiece of the new lounge and has met with rapturous approval from everyone who's visited. Thanks also go to Paul Wardman our electrician who oversaw a total rewire in the lounge and installed the LED lighting in the unit. Paul is a brilliant electrician, very professional, friendly and competitive. He has overseen all our electrical work since 2009! Staircase - February 2024 We recently decided we needed to upgrade our very tired staircase. We invited quotes from a variety of specialists across the UK and were staggered at the ridiculous cost for a maximum of 3 days’ work i.e. Neville Johnson £8,500! We had all but given up, but a chance conversation with some close friends suggested we visit, and look at their recent stair renovation, undertaken by Richard of RJ Joinery, Wakefield. Witnessing his craftmanship, alongside a glowing reference, we invited Richard to visit us and supply a quote. We met Richard a few days later, just before Christmas 2023, and were extremely impressed. All existing newel posts, caps, handrail, and supports were to be removed and replaced with genuine oiled oak, unlike a number of 'specialists' who were simply going to clad the existing 47-year-old inadequate staircase. In addition, the open stringer would be replaced with oiled oak veneer ply. Whilst the closed stringers would be clad with oiled oak veneer ply. Furthermore, to add a contemporary feel to the finished article, we decided to install glass panel infills with brushed steel clamps. Finally, the treads and risers would be repaired, and put an end to the squeaky ascent to the first floor! Richard had a busy schedule and confirmed he could start work at the beginning of February 2024, once our pre-arranged redecoration had concluded at the end of January 2024. His quote promptly arrived, and we were delighted to engage a true craftsman at a highly competitive price, and a fraction of what Neville Johnson had quoted! Richard is a perfectionist, thoroughly professional, diligent, punctual, and extremely polite - he loved our fresh coffee! Each day he arrived by 08:15 and left a clean and tidy house on his departure. The whole project was completed in 2.5 days, which is highly impressive. We cannot speak highly enough of Richard, and the results speak for themselves. The outstanding quality of finish and attention to detail went well beyond our expectations. We are very pleased with our staircase renovation completed recently by Richard. From the start, we were given different options and costs for the project. We had a very creaky staircase which was fixed, then oak cladding fitted alongside new oak treads, spindles and handrails.
