Jake fitted some panelling in our lounge and a picture rail in our bedroom. He drew some mock ups for us beforehand and gave us some options to choose from. The work he did was absolutely spot on we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Added a really smart look to both the lounge & bedroom. Would 100% recommend to anyone!

What a pleasure it was to deal with this company. From the initial chat, to the final fit... The process was seamless.  We got a bespoke fitted dresser made. We had an awkward alcove in the bedroom. What Jake designed exceeded our expectations of what we thought was possible with the space. The quality and finish is incredible. Jake from Coates Carpentry was an absolute professional, polite and very tidy, arriving on time each day, he dealt with all the irregularities of fitting doors to our 1930’s house. Jake also made a door for our under stairs cupboard perfectly to match the standard doors. I cannot recommend him enough, we are extremely impressed and very happy with the work he has carried out. When we need some more joinery we will definitely be calling Jake.

Would 100% recommend Stuart / Born of Wood. I had been trying to find the perfect bathroom cabinet but none of them were quite right. I sent Stuart some pictures of what I had in mind in terms of style and the type of wood I wanted to use and he designed the perfect unit. He was really responsive and made sure that the sink we had planned to go on top of it would fit which wasnt something I had even thought of. I absolutely love the unit- worth every penny and we've had a lot of compliments on it- it will be coming with me if I ever move house!!

For many months I researched companies who would be able to custom build and install floating solid wood shelving and units to house our CDs, Vinyl and TV and audio equipment. I found Born of Wood on Instagram and so wish I’d found them sooner! I hope this review saves hours of your life if you’re looking for the same, as you need look no further than Stuart and his team. From our first contact to today, where I’m sat looking at our wonderful furniture and can’t stop smiling, the experience has been top class! Stuart visited our home and spent time listening to our vision and requirements. He understands how the furniture needs to meet your everyday needs and masters a design of how it will do exactly that. We received CAD drawings to show how it would look in our home and given the chance to alter these if required. He took on board our visions and made them a reality. The quality of the furniture is exceptional. We live in a grade II listed building and when it came to delivery and installation, the Born of Wood team were respectful of our home. Pete’s approach to installation was calm, considerate and precise, checking with us throughout about our preferences for the placement of our audio equipment. Born of Wood have captured a bit of us in the creation of our furniture. They have somehow managed to create exactly what we would if we had their exceptional skill. We can’t wait to fill our shelves with all our music, which is such a massive part of our lives. Thanks Stuart and the Team! We will most definitely be inviting you back for our next project! Re: BIG AV Cabinet & Turntable Platform. I looked, for quite a while, to find a carpenter I was happy to work with, and thankfully found Stuart. I wanted, amongst other things, to match a particular speaker veneer. Stuart helped me at every point, advised and was very patient with my requirements & pursuit. After much trial & error, what he & his team have built surpasses my original brief and expectations. The final product is stunning & I love it. From my initial phone conversation, through the design process & tweaking, to the build, staining & finishing, Stuart has been outstanding. I cannot recommend Born of Wood highly enough.

If you are thinking of any bespoke joinery work Simon is the best. Be prepared to wait as his diary is busy but he’s worth it. What a super tradesperson. Attention to detail, punctual, clean, tidy and a perfectionist. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We absolutely love our new oak and glass staircase. It’s made the hallway so much lighter and far more in keeping with the rest of the house. I also had another little job to do with an oak desk and this turned out better than I could have expected. From a big uncomfortable desk to a lovely cabinet for printer and office supplies and a new sit to stand desk. Belter of an up cycle and a quality finish.

Ben built us a large bespoke utility cupboard with an adjoining dresser unit, made to match the style and colour of our existing kitchen units. He discussed our requirements, made suggestions, produced diagrams and worked around our builders. We have been very impressed with the quality of work. The soft-close drawers and shelves take a substantial weight of china and bottles! I would definitely recommend Ben and hope to use him again for other projects in the future.

A massive THANKYOU to Alex for his incredible work transforming our living room. Going from a place we had absolutely fallen out of love with and outgrown having a young child and no storage he has given us back a living space we can all enjoy. From family movie nights, a cosy room we are proud of and enough floor space to keep up with our little boys never ending conveyor belt of toys. He gave us expert advice and ideas we hadn’t even thought of. We could not recommend him enough! He is so knowledgable and nothing is too much trouble for him. We've been struggling off and on for a few years with coving that runs above some shelving either side of a chimney breast and eventually one section fell off completely. So we decided we had to resolve this once and for all, we'd seen some potential options online and started looking around for a suitable trade person to solve this problem. We eventually found Carl at Cookridge Carpentry and his response was prompt and positive. Following a couple of 'false starts' we finally hit on a solution that we could proceed with when he provided a rough dummy. Carl turned up when he said he would and grafted really hard to make sure we reached the result we were looking for. His work was very clean and tidy with little mess, which was surprising. He also spent plenty of time cleaning up after himself on both days. Both local and quality result... winner! We would have no hesitation in recommending Cookridge Carpentry for appropriate work, very professional throughout.

Dan did an incredible job installing our understairs shoe storage and bar—10 out of 10! His attention to detail was second to none, and he went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He even got on well with our cat, who constantly tried to "help" by getting in the way! After we painted the cupboards, Dan kindly popped back to fit the handles, which was much appreciated. We had five quotes for this job, and Dan delivered twice the work for half the price. Highly recommend!

Dan did such a fantastic job in our lounge, building us 2 beautiful alcove cupboards, 4 floating shelves and a superb fireplace surround and mantelpiece all in solid oak. We were so impressed that we also got him to make a bespoke unit for our vinyl and turntable.. Throughout the whole process, including navigating the covid lockdown, Dan gave us great ideas and guidance but really listened to what we wanted. He turned up when he said he would. He finished on time and was very competitively and fairly priced. Dan is also just a very nice guy who you feel confident about leaving in your house. We have had ChristelBall Joinery to do quite a bit of work for us at our house since we moved and we can't speak highly enough of them. The quality of their craftsmanship is excellent and the price was very good. Friendly service,clean,tidy & always turn up on time. In the kitchen we had them fit our engineered oak flooring,tri-fold oak doors,cottage style oak pantry door,new skirting and architrave,stud work with over boarding to create 2nd level ceiling for the extension and finally fitting the new kitchen including solid oak work tops. They were also able to make us matching solid oak window sills to match the worktops. We think it looks great and have had so many positive comments on it from friends and neighbours. Since then they have been back again to build our chimney breast TV unit/wall,fitted units with oak tops in the alcoves either side and an oak shelf under the TV for our soundbar. New skirting all round and a second oak cottage style door with matching oak window sill was also fitted. They've really helped us realise what we wanted to do with the downstairs of our house and we can't recommend them highly enough. It looks better than we ever could have hoped for. Later this year we will be starting upstairs and will 100% be using ChristelBall joinery for our wardrobes and any other joinery work we need.
