Eight of us ate here on a Saturday evening. Everyone enjoyed their food. My king prawn starter and roasted veg pizza were excellent. Service was efficient and friendly.

My family & I have just enjoyed a meal at this venue. The car park was semi-frozen, though staff said that it had been cleared a little earlier and suffers from drainage. It was a little precarious, but most days are not ice days. We really enjoyed the place and food, and the staff seemed pleasant. My daughter would have preferred music a little more upbeat, maybe good old Abba. I quite liked the Indian music, befitting an Indian restaurant.

My chicken balti was amongst the finest curries I ever eaten. Rich, deep flavourful sauce, big chunks of quality chickenbreast. A lovely naan bread to boot, perfect size for one. The onion bhaji starter was spot on too. Great service.

What a lovely place. The food is amazing. Great selection to choose from. Good prices, good beer, service fantastic. Staff couldn't do enough for us and had a great sense of humour . Didn't feel rushed, very friendly place. Definitely highly recommended

Our first visit for four. We ordered a smokehouse platter for 2 with garlic mushrooms and magic-dusted fries for three of us to share and a go big or go home burger for the other one. We decided on the sharing platter as we didn’t know what we would like and wanted a variety. I don’t usually eat big portions of meat but probably ate twice as much as I expected to. The meat was amazing, tasty and tender and mostly just fell off the bone. The brisket was like butter and the dusted fries certainly were magic. The burger was also a hit. Two shared a cookies and cream waffle plate and loved it. We are now in a food coma. Staff were really friendly and efficient. We loved the atmosphere, great decor and music. We asked to take our left over meat home and were given a couple of cardboard boxes and a strong paper bag to pack it in. It will make some lovely wraps for lunches for a couple of days. We would definitely recommend a visit and will visit again.

This place is outstanding! This was our first time here and we didn’t know what to expect! But my good gods, it was amazing. From start to finish… Liz!! Our whiskey friend! What you did fortnight dad on his birthday was just the sweetest, and because of you, we will be back! The food is excellent but the service makes this experience just that much more special! I turned up without booking but they managed to fit us in. Typical American diner type atmosphere but at least there was no line dancing. The brisket was not bad in flavour, but I'm full of cold, and the salad was packed out with lettuce underneath.. Staff very friendly and served us quickly. I'd certainly call in again

Hayden was warm and welcoming from the moment of walking in that made the experience as great as always. My wife and I go here most date nights as it is just a great BBQ place. The service from the whole team that looked after us was exceptional. Highly recommend going!

We enjoyed eating in this restaurant. The steak was nicely cooked and service was exceptional.

Had a lovely meal this evening, I have no complaints. The onion flower was amazing and the steak cooked perfectly. My partner said it was the best burger he's ever had. We spoke to a member of staff about the food and he said its all made in house even the bread buns. Would definitely recommend, thank you.

Fantastic experience tonight. Been watching the videos on social media and come down, my expectations were exceeded by a country mile. Food and service was amazing, price was good for quality of food and the building was top notch.

I recently dined at Three Flames Steak House, and it was an exceptional experience. The restaurant is beautifully designed, creating a lovely ambiance. The staff were polite and attentive, adding to the overall positive atmosphere. The food was incredible, with every dish thoughtfully prepared. The steak, in particular, was cooked to perfection. The only downside to our visit was the disruptive behavior of children at nearby tables, which wasn't the restaurant's fault. It's just a reminder that some patrons can't handle their kids. Everything else was perfect. Just be aware of the service charge on the receipt; it was significantly higher than a usual tip, which might catch some off guard. Despite this, Three Flames Steak House is highly recommended for a superb dining experience.

Great menu - all home made, very fresh and hot and fantastic value for the lunch specials. Great views from the conservatory over the valley and the Caphouse colliery museum.

Found this pub by much detective work as most local pubs were not inspiring. Nice large car park. Clean inside everywhere. We went to the back in the conservatory with a good view and overlooking the mining museum. Seating was comfortable. There were a number of tables outside the back. Beers were a good price. Now to the food, good food choices and prices were below normal. We all agreed that the food was excellent and a good plate full. We will return without doubt. Only let down was it wasn't dog friendly 😕

We came here for a family birthday. There were a lot of us. Inside was clean, spacious, and warming. There is plenty of space to find a seat. We picked from the lunch menu. Please see the photos attached. Chicken goujons and Steak and Ale Pie for the mains. Cheese cake and chocolate fudge cake with ice cream for dessert. The chicken goujons were ok, they were the equivalent to what you get at McDonald's. The pie, though, was stunning. Plenty of tender meat inside, and the chips were proper chips. I would recommend this as a main here. As for both desserts, they were great aswell. Service was quick, staff were friendly, and it was reasonably priced.

Lovely Fish and Chips, and a decent selection of ales on offer. Nice traditional pub decor inside with a bright conservatory area where we ate. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We were out on a Sunday walk, on our way back from Emley. We were told the kitchen had stopped doing food (mid afternoon) but lucky for us they were still cooking for the last table that had booked, so they managed to fit us in. Would definitely consider going again, and probably book ahead if it's expected for dining.

Came up for my old man's birthday and had a fabulous time. The new manager is a good fit for the pub. Charming funny and loves a cucumber. So if you have one and fancy tipping her. She would very much appreciate it

Dropped in for a light lunch on a Friday, not busy. Staff pleasant and attentive, food and drinks were enjoyable and good value. Will certainly return.

A lovely, quaint little place with a cosy atmosphere and a great outside seating area. The service was friendly and helpful and the food arrived quickly and well presented. Everything tasted great and I heavily recommend the homemade onion rings. If you are looking for a relaxing place for a nice lunch, I would definitely check this place out.

Long time since we last ate here can happily confirm it it's worlds apart from last time .Great food well presented attention to detail was very much appreciated. No skimping on fixed price menu portion sizes were good .clean beautifully presented environment. Dan our waiter was so eager to please and dispite being alone on the floor for some of the time during our visit controlled the situation with skill and a pleasant attitude. He really made our experience so pleasant displaying a great set of multitasking skills .Well done Ego you smashed it

Absolutely outstanding service. My husband and I have been coming for years now and it has been 5 stars every time. Food is incredible every time and the service is always outstanding. We have had a variety of items off the menu, with our favourites being the pizza, kebabs and chicken Milanese. Thank you for always providing a lovely experience!

Wonderful service, very tasty food and lovely atmosphere. Guy who served us was brilliant. 6 of us all ordered different and all food came together and was well presented. Will be rebooking many times. Had a wonderful meal. The risotto was amazing 😻lovely touches to a birthday meal

Been coming to the Ego for year now. The food is always amazing, but today the Sunday roasts we had was out of this world. Very well priced for the atmosphere, food quality and the service. Highly recommend for all occasions

Absolutely awesome beautiful food for breakfast for the price it’s amazing. Colette & sammii made feel so welcome. They could not have done anymore nothing was any trouble at all. As I have MND it means some times I’m unable to control my arms & hands. They brought me my coffee across so I didn’t end up with it all over me and the floor. I can’t thank them enough for kindness not just to me other customers as well.

We all had carvery which was very decent price and great size. Meats were hit and miss gammon being excellent and beef being a little overcooked for our preference but overall very tasty. The deserts here were amazing especially for value, portions so big we had to take some home with us! Atmosphere was great really appreciated having a adult area which was quieter. All our servers were super attentive and friendly, definitely made the trip nicer. Thank you to our server Lucy for the experience.

Came for dinner after work with the family; food was fantastic; 3 carverys and a yorkshire wrap! Cant fault the staff - our waitress Naiomi was great!

We decided to visit for a nice Sunday carvery after our little boys swimming lesson. We were just about to go up to get it and then there was a power cut. We sat about for a while wondering if the power was going to come back on, it didn’t so we went up anyway and ate in the dark . The power did eventually come back on so we were able to get desserts. The staff were brilliant during the outage. It was a new experience but it hasn’t put us off from returning

We booked a table for New Years Eve, the table wasn't ready but was kept informed on when the table would be available, this was totally understandable with it being New Years Eve. The waitress was really lovely and kept us informed. The food we all had was absolutely amazing, we had salmon and pasta dishes along a starter of garlic flat bread. We thoroughly enjoyed our night there, the entertainment and atmosphere was brilliant. Would definitely recommend visiting here. Many thanks to the Bar42 staff.

A nice local restaurant with a great selection of dishes. Staff very friendly, plus lots on hand d to help and serve. This is also a very popular bar that attracts a bustling crowd of drinkers. Food was very tasty, combo starter was very generous and would fed 3 to 4. Wines and beer not cheap but affordable. Can get a little noisy with the pub crowd but the glass partition really helps.

Absolutely delicious food, service and value for money. Would 100% recommend to anyone and will be making sure to go back again.

Made 2 last minute bookings(days before), one was Christmas Eve for 4 diners and another for New Years Eve for 7 diners, both times staff were excellent and were able to accommodate my bookings. Very busy as expected on both days but staff were absolutely fabulous and the food was delicious and perfectly presented! I’m a bit apprehensive about reviewing this restaurant as I don’t want it to get so busy I’ll not get a table. When I’m next up in Wakefield this will definitely be my go to restaurant! Also the Sunday roasts are the best I’ve had for a long time. Just wished there was a sister Bistro 42 near to me down south.
