The Best Restaurants in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom (2025)

Visited My Peshawar expecting a back street curry house but was so very pleasantly surprised. From the quirky interior to the ambience it oozed authenticity. We were waited on by Shokat and Sultan and nothing was too much trouble. They kept our drinks flowing and chutneys topped up. I’m not the biggest meat fan but ordered chappal kebabs anyway (I was told by a friend this is their ‘must try’ item) along with a mixed grill for the two of us. The food was beyond exceptional. The kebabs melted in the mouth and the quality of the meats on the mixed grill were second to none. Do I recommend My Peshawar? Absolutely without hesitation. If there’s one thing I have an issue with, it’s the fact that it’s over an hour away from home (insert crying emoji here)

Went there at friend’s recommendation and i must say its all worth it. We had tried their rice platter which was full of variety of toppings and full of taste . The chappel kebab was very delicious too. Overall i love it and the atmosphere gives the Pakistan’s vibes ❤️

Shaukat provided good customer service, took us to a table and talked to us about the menu. He was kind when sharing the menu to us and talking to us about our order. Amazing service! Would recommend for families

Amazing experience & service, our server named Ahmed was outstanding, attentive, helping & a joyful man. Its about time for some real pakistani food, bought a platter to share and every bite was amazing 👏, you can tell it was fresh out of the grill with awesome flavours, also the chapali kebab was beautiful. Missed having food like this & oh finshed off with real karak chai not them machine filled teas what every other chai place serve, so we reallt glad we went.

The mixed grill was the bomb- All the meats were cooked perfectly and the lamb chop was a quality sourced offering- would have been nice with another dip option however the tatziki that came with it was great. The chip game may need tweaking- a little over done but not the main event so didn’t impact the meal. The little pizzas are a great accompaniment too or even for kids the perfect order.

We've been a few times, and every time, there's never been an issue with the food. The staff and the establishment is great. The food took a while but this is reassuring to know that its cooked fresh. The Greek style potatoes are lovely. Overall a great place.

Had my first order from here in Saturday evening . My daughter and myself were amazed at the quality of the food we ordered. Beas taken aback when I ordered lamb chops and I was asked how I would like them cooking!!! Needless to say they were fabulous, restaurant quality. Delivered with a smile too. I will certainly be ordering from them again. Thank you Greek Grill.

One of the nicest meals I've had in a long time! Absolutely delicious food! I had the halloumi ciabatta to start, the belly pork for main and the chocolate brownie with berry sorbet for dessert. Not sure how I've squeezed it all in but there was no way I was leaving any! All the staff were warm and friendly, couldn't do enough for you. Highly recommend a visit!!! Thank you for a fab evening!!!

The food at the wheatsheaf is amazing,this was our first visit to have something to eat , it's a beautiful pub with a lovely atmosphere. The food was a step up from pub grub and beautifully presented, price very reasonable, we will definitely come back to eat , good choice on the menu and drinks.

Amazing food, great service and great staff, would recommend trying the flat iron steak, great steak and cooked to perfection, the 2 girls running it are lovely and very friendly, if your looking for some good home cooked food then wheatsheaf is the place

The canneloni was a big let down. The meat inside the canneloni was very wierd flavor and looked like as pasta meat very rich in tomato in other words too much tomato for my tasting, the canneloni pasta was a bit dry in same of the parta a bit too chew. The tuna and pepperoni pizza was nice and flavoursame, the only thing was the onions was a bit too thick and was mostly raw. The calzoni was delicious and havent disapointed. The deserts was the highlight of the night very delicious all of them was a pleaseant suprise.

Food was very good and a very nice atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food service was very fast on a Sunday afternoon. We had Starters, a Steak, two pasta dishes, and a pizza. All prepared very well and came around the same time minimal waiting time.

Tech-free pub that no longer serves food, so unfortunately we couldn’t stay (came out for lunch). However, what a stunning building, beautiful atmosphere and amazing welcome/service. If I were looking for a place to drink and chat today, this would be where I would come. Really nice acoustics, audiologist approved for those who struggle to hear. If you know, you know :-) Delighted to have found it, will be back!

This is a very old coach house, a fabulous building. I had a pint of dark mild it was around £2.50 maybe less. It is a tech free pub so you need to speak to each other they also don't allow bad language. Altogether a nice evening out

Another beautiful meal at Sammy's last night! We’ve have been coming here for years. The staff are always friendly & the food is always fresh & delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a lovely meal or takeaway! ⭐ it’s bring your own alcohol too so you can bring your favourite bottle 🍻

We love sammies. We’ve tried loads of local curry houses but always come back here as it’s the best one! The fish masala starter is beautiful, the salads are always fresh, the naan breads are the best around and the curries are super tasty with gorgeous large pieces of really top quality and perfectly cooked chicken. We particularly like the creamy chicken (my daughter’s fave) and the chicken and spinach karahi. Everything is always lovely, even down to the poppadoms and pickle tray 🤩 Staff are always really friendly and service is always excellent, they even gave us a lift up the road when the streets were full of black ice when we walked down for my birthday meal. Lovely and warm too which is always nice when the weather is cold outside!

My favourite Indian restaurant... thank you for a lovely meal. Generous portions. Lovely tender chicken pieces. My favourite starter is always Julie's masala fish. Amazing food and service.

Yet another perfect meal at Sammy's! Could not fault the food at all, fresh, hot, full of flavour, well presented and great portion sizes! Excellent value for the price and in a lovely, clean, welcoming restaurant. The staff are always friendly and helpful and even when it's busy, there's rarely a long wait. Would 100% recommend!

Burger Avenue in heckmondwike is a great takeaway specializing in fattayers. The food is decent, reasonably priced, and the staff are friendly. The standout dish is the flavorful and generously sized fattayers, definitely worth checking out for a satisfying meal.

Excellent customer service and food is absolutely delicious, especially the Fattayer. Very kind workers and owner who made us feel very comfortable and well looked after. Thank you! I particularly enjoyed the Tandoori chicken Fattayer - best one I've tasted!

New place in Heckmondwike , Really enjoyed the food fresh and tasty and variety of sauces ,very clean place and customer service is 10 out of 10 , prices are so cheap for all meal deals (spicy burger is a must try) if your passing by do give this place a try I’m sure you won’t be dissapointed.

First time ordering, very friendly delivery driver, kids meal was a massive portion and lovely, ordered 2 x pizzas stuffed crusts- both gorgeous. And added bonus of free garlic bread. Will definitely be ordering again xxx

Hands down the best takeaway I have had in the area. Definitely worth a try. Food was amazing got a pizza, calzone and chips. At most others, food would be dry/stale like it has been sat under heat lamps for ages this was still hot and tasted fresh. The sauce they use on the pizza is completely different to others in the area, and again tastes so fresh. On top of the great food the service from the delivery driver was brilliant. Really friendly and nice guy. 10/10 all round will be ordering again.

After a hard day I ordered for the first time from this place and I am very pleasantly surprised. The best doner in the area, cheap express delivery. The homemade garlic sauce in Turkish style is enough to cover the entire tray. It was definitely not the first and last time. Highly recommended.

Unbelievable! The best takeaway I've ever had . 10/10 the pizza was the best I ever tasted, the chips was fantastic, and I never like takeaway chips. The pizza was banging. The onion rings was amazing too. If u never had a dinner and chicken pizza then bloody get 1 from these guys, they really know how to cook a pizza. Just brilliant! Thankyou.

Good food especially the wings. The sharwama wrap was average. Kebabs were ok not the best. White cream sauce was nice. Unfortunately was let down by poor slow service. Large chips box was only half full. Only two tables available for dine in so consider take out. CASH ONLY. HMC Approved.

I ordered the shawarma Loaded fries and its not the first time I've ordered this from estos. Well worth the £10 price and quality chicken shawarma and the special sauces is nice

The food here is incredible! Cooked to perfection with great flavors and spot-on marination, and the salad was refreshingly crisp. This place is truly a hidden gem. We picked up our order and were impressed by the clean, open-plan layout, showcasing a wide selection of meats. The charcoal grill added an authentic touch to the amazing Mediterranean cuisine. My kids loved it, and we enjoyed a lovely garden lunch. Kudos to the Esto team—keep up the great work!

ESTO’s is hands down the best spot for Middle Eastern food! I ordered the Chef’s Platter, and it was an absolute feast. It came loaded with everything—tender lamb chops, juicy donner, perfectly spiced shawarma, flavorful wings, grilled skewers and more! The sides were just as impressive with rice, crispy chips, warm naan, and a fresh salad to top it off. Every bite was bursting with authentic flavors, and the portions were huge.
