Lovely restaurant, with great atmosphere and friendly, welcoming service. The food is gorgeous and beautifully presented, with a nice selection to choose from , that has changed each time I have been so there is always something different to try. Definitely recommend and a great addition to Lindley.

Went as a group of six on the recommendation of two in our group. Lovely restaurant, knowledgable waitress on the menu both food and drinks, great service and amazing food! Restaurant was closing and we were still sat around talking but not rushed out by staff. Would recommend and will also be back again.

Our first visit and certainly not our last! We came to Sapori to celebrate my birthday with my family and it was excellent. The service was amazing from minute one with the right amount of attention to us and very helpful recommendations with ordering. We had starters and mains. The food portions don’t look huge but honestly they are made with such flavour and richness that it is the perfect amount. I personally had the salmon tortellini and it was beautiful and I believe the ragu was a hit with my parents! My brother hate the Nutella pie dessert which was simply divine. Wine was also pleasantly wonderful which was clearly imported rather than chemicalised British wine (basically, we felt like we were in Italy). And to top it off, we were given free limoncello to celebrate my birthday! Thank you to the Sapori team, we will be back.

The food here is absolutely fantastic, whether it's breakfast, Sunday lunch or an evening meal. This place is highly recommended, and I have been several times and will be back again in the near future. It's located in the Dean Clough Mill, complex, free parking. You will not be disappointed.

Paulicarus fancied a proper Sunday roast dinner so booked a table here. Friends had been before. Sat in what apparently had once been Europe's largest carpet factory. Certainly a huge building. A starter and main for £25. Two lamb and two beef. Good veg selection. We had starters of one wings, one paté and two chose asparagus and sea bass. All excellent. Good service and good wine. No real ale so Paulicarus had a £6.00 pint of lager. Very attentive service.

My husband and I visited for the first time today having recently moved from Leeds to Halifax. We were hoping to find a new favourite Sunday roast spot, and we certainly have! We both opted for the roast pork belly and agreed it was one of the best roast dinners we've ever had at a restaurant: perfectly cooked pork belly, generous portion size and delicious sides- we both loved the cauliflower cheese. Service was attentive without being too much, and the restaurant's setting in the historic Dean Clough was the cherry on top! We're already planning our next visit, thank you True North :)

Good restaurant in Dean Clough mill complex. We called in with no appointment, and there was no problem getting a table. It was a quiet early afternoon. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. The food we chose was tasty and all prepared on site; there was one slight issue with one of our dishes and the staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating in resolving the problem, this was appreciated but not expected from us. True North is definitely worth a visit. It's a quality restaurant serving good quality food; this is our second visit and won't be our last.

Absolutely fantastic tapas restaurant. Such a diverse choice at reasonable prices... we will visit again, as we want to try all the dishes on the menu (sadly we do not live closer & only tried 5 dishes - which were all amazing). The decor is very cool, the staff are excellent, the chef and his team are non stop in the open kitchen. The result.... a fantastic culinary experience, the dishes were served singularly, which gave the feel of a taster menu. First class. Thanks you. We were fortunate enough to be seated at the bar, overlooking the kitchen, we saw the adept cookery, relentless hard work first hand. Plus, we were given recommendations of the premium dishes to order. Top drawer experience. A must do in the region.

It has taken almost two years - lockdown and all that - for us to find a restaurant that makes us feel like we have a small part of London in Sowerby Bridge of all places. Great service, ridiculously good taste, and superb quality… 🍱 If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. Ate all the food before we could snap a photograph!! Lovely atmosphere. We sat in front of the kitchen, bit too close to the door, but was interesting to watch the kitchen staff. If I could nick-pick on anything from a business perspective, it would be seeing the cooks browse their mobile phones here and there whilst in between service - but that is being really fussy! We were not offered a wine menu and the paper napkins are a small letdown. But being super fussy as I was so impressed by the place, I want it to be even better! The table staff were excellent. We ordered 10+ dishes for 2 adults and one child. Two drinks each = £90. An absolute bargain. Wish I could have sampled all the plates… I will be coming back many times! (April 2023) Returned again with my 11 year old son for an Easter treat. We love it there. The pork belly, anchovies and chorizo are lovely. The cauliflower dish was lovely - great for vegetarians - but not for me. Heart and Soul (Vocation) on tap 🍺 too. Parking 🅿️ immediately outside if anyone needs to know.

This was one of the best restaurants for the most delicious food ever. Our taste buds were dancing. Worth travelling too. Great staff I was given the history of the restaurant. Will definitely book again. Wish there was one in Manchester.x

We held our wedding at The 1885 on the August bank holiday and WOW what a perfect day it was. From our initial discussion through to the day after our wedding both Victoria & Matthew were absolutely fantastic. They genuinely care for their customers and wanted our day to be as amazing as we did. They were attentive throughout and nothing was too much to ask, they made us feel comfortable and confident in the run up to our day and it was all completely stress free. The staff were brilliant during our day and the food stole the show - our guests said it was like eating in a fine dining restaurant! We can't thank Matthew, Victoria and the team enough for making our day as special as we wanted and for going above and beyond.

Me and my wife Di went to the Asian Fusion tasting meal in the restaurant on Friday evening and what a delicious 5 course tasting menu it was. Matthew and Nathan produced such great flavours and each course was a delight. We will definitely be going again. What a great experience

I have consistently found great food, and great service here.. but there is a clear "set" that 1885 wishes to appeal to. It's not ideal for kids and families. Possibly depending on the time of day and whether they have residents upstairs. On my last visit I was asked politely by the owner not to return because my toddlers disturbed the residents upstairs (we came for dinner between 5-7pm). My kids were excited/activated and they are both young/high pitched but they weren't unreasonable, in my opinion. It's a gorgeous venue, and I can't rate the servers highly enough, I have always been treated kindly and attentively, but I won't be rushing back, I wouldn't feel welcome.

Stopped off for breakfast on our way home from Halifax. The lady serving was very friendly and attentive despite being extremely busy in the lead up to Christmas. The breakfast was spot on. A super start to the day & if we're ever in the area again we would definitely return. Thankyou

Had a great breakfast here just over a week ago before a trip down to Warwick. All the food was well cooked and portions were large. Lovely service from the young lady on duty. Smart, clean surroundings made it a pleasure to eat here.

Went to a birthday meal here. The food was lovely, the service was great, the staff were friendly and efficient. I cannot comment on the rooms as we did not stay. Would recommend.

I booked bottomless brunch here on a Saturday afternoon for a hen party. The food was fantastic and actually the best Thai food I have had (seen photos). The service was attentive and the drinks plentiful. We all had a great time and said we’d definitely return to try the standard menu. Thank you.

☎️ Booking: The online booking was easy to do. The website isn’t the easiest to navigate. There are two restaurants on the webpage to the downstairs venue on the street and to the Tapas venue which we booked - this is upstairs above the (old) main shop which I now think has moved a smaller takeaway premises 3 or 4 shop windows adjacent to the building. We booked online, and then I hadn’t realised I booked the wrong day. Thankfully, the restaurant called me up when I thought I was arriving and happily changed to the correct day. Very polite and friendly. Excellent first impression 👌 🚶‍♂️ Arrival: We felt like a spare part as we arrived upstairs, standing by the till. There was no one there to say hello, and welcome us, even though the space was small. Easily fixed with a simple, “Hello. Sorry. One minute and I’ll be with you…” is all it takes to make a customer feel welcome. The restaurant had two busy tables when we arrived (Friday 5PM) and it was full when we left (6.30). 👋🏻 When we were greeted, the waitress ‘waved’ us to the table with a ‘silent hand gesture’ - that way - and we had to find the table ourselves. Again, table service easily fixed with a “Let me show you your table.” It takes 10 seconds. 🪑 Table: We booked a table for three, and we sat on a raised sitting/table area by the window. They have lovely red brickwork, but because it was the winter, there was small bits of unpointed brickwork which let small drafts of cold air through, so it was actually quite cold to sit there. In true Thai style, you have a spoon and fork 🍴 to eat with - no knife - with a napkin. No table sauces sadly. 🍽️ Service: One of the waitresses was fantastic. She made us feel very welcome and talked us through the menu. Nothing was too much trouble. She celebrated each dish and offered recommendations when we needed it. Overall, the table service was excellent but it could be improved by reducing the amount of different waitresses coming to our table asking us the same questions: “Can I take this?” “Are you ready for XYZ?” All very well considered, but easily fixed by the restaurant if assigning one person to a table. 🥘 Food: the food was stunning! It was a great choice, plenty for children to eat, and authentic Thai/spicy quality. It was always interesting to watch the chef cook the food, traditional Thai kitchen with lots of cooks, made in seconds, and delivered in true Tapas style - as and when ready. When the dishes were cooked in the kitchen, wasn’t busy, all the cooks would just simply stand there and chat, which is funny, and if you understand Thai culture, that’s how they do it, but as a business, it’s probably not conducive for productivity. There was one waitress who kept popping behind the kitchen and eating for all to see. Whilst this is harmless, I don’t think it’s hygienic or good for customers to see. The only thing I didn’t like - despite eating them all - was being asked if we wanted some prawn crackers. A small bowl for £2.50 is a steep addition when really these could be complimentary in the grand scheme of things considering how cheap they are to make. However, the food was fantastic. I’ve been to Thailand 🇹🇭 12/15 times and loved the rural culture. It’s probably one of the best restaurants in terms of taste and cuisine we have tried in the area. 🍷 🍺 Drinks: All the usual things on offer; draft beer and spirits. Although my wife was disappointed when they didn’t have Gordons gin in stock. 💰 Value: we left £30 deposit online, which wasn’t itemised on the bill, but we were told (thankfully I asked) that this would only be used if the customer doesn’t turn up and refunded to the bank account. Two adults + one child, we spent £104 on lots ~10 dishes and 3 drinks. Our table was full of dishes; we didn’t finish them all. We were stuffed 😃 and carried 3 dishes home. 🚨 I’m super interested in food and service. I want to see local businesses succeed. Despite my detailed review, this was a great evening/food. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall, fantastic food and we will go again!

Went for the first time last night and had a fantastic time what with great food, good value, excellent friendly staff and a nice relaxing atmosphere! Only downside was the Cheesecake was unavailable but I had the chocolate brownie which was delicious! Recommend anyone to visit this little gem of a restaurant!

So Beefy I HAD to order another!! I'm not over exaggerating when I say beefy, I'm talking pregnancy cravings of beef that only a freshly butchered cow turned into a burger could satisfy! I'm talking "when was the last time a burger actually tasted like a beef burger" beefy. I'm talking that cow must've been arguing it's whole life it had that much Beef! Out of the small towns around Huddersfield, Halifax, Elland this burger has to be in the top 5 hands down. It is premium product but for some miraculous reason, costs less than £10, less than £8, less than £6!!!! For just £5 Monday - Thursday you can get a double stacked beefy burger and fries for only a single note! But how is it? Food: I began with the Manhattan burger, double patty with a beef rasher like pastrami with a side of...a chicken nashville burger. At that price why not? You get to choose your bun, there are various options but nothing beats the potato brioche, I did go for seeded brioche for the chicken to try. The beef burger, what an unbelievable quality for the price it cost, fresh beef and such a high quality it was practically still Mooing! The vast majority of places use frozen pre made patties, but finally we have a place that gives you damn good quality beef that you actually can taste the quality and freshness. The ghurkins were thick and flavour some, onions soft and as a whole the burger is a soft bite of delicious meat. It did however, for me, miss a bit of oomph in the taste, I mightve wanted some fresh cracked black peppercorn just to spice up the beef patty a bit more but otherwise the taste is safe for anyone to enjoy. The chicken burger, for me, I thought this one felt on par with most places, a soft buttermilk chicken breast burger. The Nashville was fairly standard. If I think about KFC's slightly thicker Nashville sauce on their chunks I wish this burger had that viscosity and deep flavour as it did just feel like plain hot Nashville sauce, I enjoyed it, but it didn't leave me in awe. The bun, the seeded brioche was also a tad hard, i.e the pack had been open a day or two and it didn't share the potato buns soft chewiness. I would like to see more original taste, something unique with a crunchier chicken patty, perhaps double dipped coated with a crunch and fried. The fries, perfect skin on potatoes fries, crunchy and soft in the middle, they had a mild dusting. Oh, and the other burger? I didn't lie, I had to order some more beef and went for the OG at just £4. A single patty beef burger, slightly tangy burga sauce in a soft and warming potato bun. This is ideal for a child, as a man I could've eaten it in 3 bites, but I did savour it, I would recommend getting at least the double OG OG burga, or even the triple liberty. Service: There are a few reviews about service so I will add on this, When I arrived there was a young lad in school uniform with a backpack at the till, but had to get the chef to answer some questions. I would just advise perhaps a pink branded Burga-Vale staff apron uniform to let people know he isn't a school kid who's sunk behind the counter and to run though training on customer scenarios so he's comfortable taking questions about the orders. Some reviews mention unmanned till so I'd suggest a door sounder which notifies downstairs someone has walked into the shop. The chef, very welcoming and was able to explain all the food choices and some recommendations. The food took as long as I'd expect it to, I didn't feel it was long, I wasn't sure if customers grabbed their own napkins or if this was forgotten but I was brought some after finishing the food, mouth and fingers covered in sauce! Atmosphere: Hot pink, 1950's Hollywood American Diner, I think it's quite cool. Surprisingly the diner was fairly quiet being a Wednesday evening 5pm-6pm with an American Western film playing on the screen, I didn't mind it but it felt a cold quiet atmosphere because of it, I'd have played some American hot hits from the 50s-80's to match the theme of the restaurant. Overall 5* food, will return.

Ordered burgers and fries from Burger Vale on Uber Eats. Delivery was on time, which was definitely a plus. The burgers had good flavor, but they weren’t anything particularly special. They were a bit on the greasy side, and I think they could have used a little more seasoning. The fries, unfortunately, didn’t hold up well during delivery and arrived somewhat soggy; maybe a different packaging would help keep them crispy. Portions were fair for the price, but overall, it felt like a pretty standard burger experience. It’s convenient, but I’d probably only order again if I was really craving a quick, basic burger.

We took advantage of the Monday - Thursday 12 until 7 half price burgers with chips offer. The food was unreal and we couldn’t have asked for more in terms of customer service. The milkshakes are also a must try 😋. Westvale is very lucky to have Burgavale.

Easily the best burger place I’ve visited. Not only was the food delicious, the staff and service was amazing too. I was particularly impressed by the wide range of options on the menu, from burgers to grilled chicken and mocktails to croffles… this place really has thought of it all! Will definitely be visiting again and recommending to all friends and family. Keep up the good work! 👍🏼

Nice food, I think the main menu is a little bland, most of us ate off the specials. The staff were lovely. The one thing I will say is that the steak on the surf and turf was totally overcooked. And while still tasty it was requested as rare and it was medium at best.

Delicious, authentic Italian food plus a fantastic selection of cocktails and drinks. The team are very welcoming and friendly! We can’t wait to visit again :)

Lovely food and very welcoming. Couldn’t do enough for us and the food was delicious. Had dinner with the family. Had a prawn starter and steak and it was very tasty. Tried the Filipino dishes too and they were delicious. We had homemade limoncello and sorbet for dessert 😋.

The new Scandic House is back & better than ever. Under new management the food is so deliciously fresh & the vibe so chilling it makes you feel like you’ve taken a load off when you visit. The soup is an absolute favourite, home made with traditional home made bread by a real Italian! If you’ve not been for a while - it’s time to go back!

Update: Now under new management. The food is still delicious and well presented but unfortunately the coffee (machine and possibly beans used) has changed and is disappointing which used to be something I loved popping in for. Popped in for breakfast, it was quiet but felt very cosy with the lovely decor. Ordered a latte and the Norwegian Salmon Serenity, which were beautifully presented and delicious. Will absolutely be back to try the lunch menu!

Lovely fresh tasting food, many flavours going on with the main I had, the pickled carrot was a very nice complement to the dish. Atmosphere felt welcoming and calm, decorations to the place looked neat, minimal, museum like, tables and chairs engraved with their logo dotted around and comfy couches. The staff were polite and attentive and I also spoke to the owner twice which was cool, he was a nice, friendly dude. Enjoyed my dinner here and will definitely stop by again! Looking forward to seeing how it grows.
