After over a 2 hour drive and 21 mile roadworks each way this place made it all worth it. The staff were amazing and so was the food. The food was made with great care. Despite the drive we will return. The staff even came to our car when we left to make sure we had entered our registration inside to avoid car park charges. Very nice layout, very nice location, clean and tidy. A credit to the food industry. Not many placese you cant find fault somewhere these days. Thanks Chris, Gabriel and co.

Absolutely amazing little pub beautiful canal view. Staff were welcoming and the food was amazing, big portions and good value. We visited on a whim and so glad we did !

Great pub. Nice find. By canal, has a nice play area for kids, deceptively large compared to what it seems from outside. Friendly service. Busy but not too busy. Food was good but bit of a wait but worth it. Drinks good big pricey considering it's out in sticks in wakey. They also had good options for kids meals and Ice cream. Definitely worth it though. 3 drinks and a meal for 2 and a child £60. Food was decent sized portion though.

Very friendly staff. Great food. Smash Tacos and Mac Cheese were really good. Service is brilliant. We had been in the area and just bought a new (to us) campervan and they were happy to let us stay in it in their carpark overnight for the price of food and drink in the pub. Saved a long drive home on a wet winters night in a new vehicle.

Wow! Beautiful pub at the side of the river Calder, Wakefield (Horbury canal). A simple but adequate menu, food was absolutely gorgeous. George went for the Walker burger, 2 smashed patties, lettuce, bacon, tomatoes, onions, sweet chilli sauce, nice crispy bun base with a lush soft lid, burger came with chips (home made, cut from real potatoes, deep fried in oil), and a little pot of coleslaw. Scores it 10/10 from ma boy. Said the flavours were awesome and could tell the meal wasn't 'mcdonalds' rubbish. Portion size was cracking, enough to fill him up (5'9" 13 year old powerhouse of a lad who can shift food for fun) ! In fact, he couldn't manage half his chips. Me, Walker chicken and leek pie. Came in its own serving dish which for me is better than a slice of a big pie. Beautiful pastry, great chunks of real chicken, well seasoned and the flavour of the leek really shone thru. Good size too, you know I'm a 6'4" eating machine but this Portion really filled me up. Separate basket of chips, mushy peas on the plate, little finger size jug of delicious gravy. 2 banging meals and drinks, cost...a shade under 40 quid. Worth every penny. Overall meal scores 10/10, place scores 10/10 and location the same. What a gorgeous eating experience. Time now to burn some off with a canal walk. If you're in the area, drop the habit of a lifetime and drive past the fast food places, drop in here. You won't be disappointed
