The Bricklayers Arms

39-41 Chevening Rd, Chipstead, Sevenoaks TN13 2RZ, UK | Pub
P: 01732 743424

Rating: 4.6 (925) Price Level:

Visited for the first time. Pie of the day was delicious, fresh local meat, huge portions- reminded me of pies in Devon! Mash and chips were good too. Staff were friendly. Parking was on the road, its a small road which I can imagine at peak times would be busy, but there were no parking restrictions. Inside was a little small not a huge amount of seating and the outdoor seating was only 4 tables (overlooking the road and then the lake), but overall a decent reasonably priced country pub with seemingly good quality food. Worth a visit, would recommend opting for their local food!

Absolutely brilliant place to eat. Opposite the lake. Food was really good and portions are very generous. Definitely recommended by us. I understand they have an open 🎤 night. Not sure what night though.

Wonderful evening at the three horseshoes. Food was excellent as well as the service. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Would recommend the mussels to start best I’ve had for a very long time. I had the steak and kidney pudding for main which was perfectly cooked and the mash potato was superb. Will definitely be returning.

Visited as one of a group of ten for early Christmas get together. Service was brilliant, food sublime, nothing was too much trouble and atmosphere was second to none. Obviously not the only ones who enjoyed this lovely venue as it was quite busy. Would highly recommend.

Good pubs come to those who travel to Plaxtol. As soon as I popped my head into the Papermakers Arms I knew I was in the right place. The interior is modern, bright, but still has that country feel given the hearth and historic photographs. I loved reading the stories dotted on the walls; they invite the customer to not just a pub, but an institution. I also loved the decor of the tables; the Papermakers Arms leather table mats, candles and flower arrangements are beautiful. With all the poignant details, it was predictable the food would follow the same Qualities. Right I was; each dish was splendidly presented and prepared. There was thought put into the plates the food was showcased upon. I loved the service, down to earth, professional and caring. This was up there with the best pub food experiences of my life.

Lovely pub and atmosphere. Very good selection of drinks, starters and desserts. Quality of what we had was very high and the service was excellent. The only reason why I don’t give the 5th star is that I found the choice of the mains quite limited and maybe a bit samey compared to other gastropubs.

P: 01732 914143

Rating: 4.2 (389) Price Level:

Great to see this cute place restored to a friendly and lovely country pub, by the new owners. Having lived less than a mile away for 17 years, we have seen many changes over the years, some great and some really not so. The menu is now great pub food and the Sunday Roasts are to die for! Love the atmosphere and the service was really good. Fish and Chips a real winner and the prices are now at a sensible level too, which is great. Well done and look forward to visiting frequently.

Lovely country pub. The owner kindly made every effort to seat us on a busy Sunday! The real pie was delicious and the roasts looked fantastic. Would definitely return. Would recommend booking but the team were great at fitting us (and other tables) in! Overheard the owner coaching the staff to give high standards when dealing with the customers, which was great to hear.

I have lived locally for 18 years snd have seen The Plough change owners a few times. Sine the new owners have taken over I have visited a number of times and have to say how lovely and welcoming they are. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is spot on! So pleased we have such a wonderful pub on our doorstep. The fish n chips is huge and delicious! Can’t wait to try the Sunday roast which I’ve heard is the best around .😋😋

What a find! We were just exploring the smaller towns of England when stumbled upon this cute little restaurant! Kate and Mo were so kind and hospitable to us. And fun to talk to! We got traditional English dishes - bangers and mash and fish and chips. The bangers and mash was served in Yorkshire pudding with delicious gravy. Superb! Thank you Kate and Mo for a wonderful experience. It felt like home away from home!

What a gem of a place! Wonderful pub hidden away down a quiet road. Food was fabulous, in fact we both left absolutely stuffed as willpower seemed to have left us. Lovely friendly staff and clean pretty toilets. We will definitely be going back there again. We went at lunch time and it got quite busy so best phone ahead to book a table. Highly recommend.

Lovely cosy pub, with excellent service and great food. Went for the whitebait, roast turkey, and Bailey's crème brûlée. The fish was great, larger than some whitebait and a nice breadcrumb. The turkey was moist with plenty of gravy, and all the trimmings (except Yorkshire puddings, boo). Then the dessert, the taste of Bailey's came through delightfully, and I loved how dark they dared to burn the sugar - also gave a lovely smell to the pub, accompanying the open fire. Choice of drinks was good, with a decent range of spirits, and three cask beers. And as mentioned before excellent, friendly service. We will return!

This is my first Google review but I felt I must write to thank Father Christmas and his elves for such a magical experience. His Grotto was beautifully decorated and Father Christmas was the most kind and inclusive gent we ever wished to meet. He enabled us to get a beautiful photo of our girls despite one being very shy and nervous. Thank you so much !

We visited Polhill garden centre to see the Christmas decorations and there was plenty to keep us looking for a good hour. There was a very good selection of all types of Christmas decorations on offer. We were also able to pick up a lovely plant as a birthday present and there was a very good book section and toy section where we picked up a couple of Christmas presents for young children in the family. We always find what we need when we visit and the staff were very friendly.

Love this garden centre. They have a big restaurant serving a good menu. There is also a fun childrens outdoor play area to keep little ones entertained. There's a wide selection of things for sale. They also do a lovely Santa's grotto at Christmas.

Wonderful selection of Christmas decorations/items, plants, food etc. love visiting. However the wait for our cup of coffee was unacceptable. I understand when there is a wait for food as has to be cooked but surely it would be beneficial to have separate coffee machines for those only wanting a hot drink. I will return to Polehill but I won’t be visiting the restaurant again.

After living in Malaysia for 10 years, it’s always hard to find somewhere with good Malaysian food. This place is exceptional and authentic. We ordered the beef rendang, nasi lemak and kuey teow noodles - they were very very good - highly recommend!!!

Lovely asian food with variety of asian cuisines from malaysian to thai and newly introduced indo chinese dishes, my all time favourite in starters is salt and pepper chicken, chicken lollipop, stir fries and popular dishes in main include slow cooked malaysian rendang curry, nasi lemark, keow theo rice noodles. Good thing is they can make custom dishes as per your need and taste.

I had a take away from here and although the food was good I found it to be expensive for what I had. There can be no complaint about the food except to say that it was nothing extraordinary. Looked good and tasted good. My gripe would be the higher than expected price. I had Sweet and Sour Chicken (Hong Kong Style), Special Fried Rice and Prawn Toast. Cost was £23.40. Just seems a lot to me for a take out meal and one as common as that. I know prices are continuously rising, so maybe I shouldn't be so surprised? Also, maybe I should check the prices before I order? However... Would I recommend? The food was good and plentiful but for the price I wouldn't return.

Novell's Restaurant

The Polhill Centre, Gardening & Leisure, Sevenoaks TN14 7BD, UK | Restaurant
P: 01959 534212

Rating: 4 (226) Price Level:

This is a lovely restaurant with really good food. I had the pulled pork roll. My wife had the macaroni cheese. The ordering process is online and very simple. However, it doesn't allow you to edit an item, e.g. to specify removing lettuce and tomato from a burger. One thing - the metal chairs are very uncomfortable, which is a shame. Still, it was a very nice establishment, and the food was great !!

Good selection of snacks and meals at reasonable prices. Selection of sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, jacket potatoes with various fillings for £7.99 or £9.99. main meals like burgers or fish and chips for around £15.00. Good selection of teas and coffees. You can order at the till, at an automated pay point or via QR code at the table. The staff were very polite and food was served quickly.

Went for lunch with my other half. Chose pizza margarita and cream tea for myself and I was very disappointed. Pizza was very soggy, prevail tomato puree in taste. Scone was dry and crumbled on the knife. My other half had liver with mash and Greek salad and loved it. Like the new service in place and can order either from your table through your mobile, till or screen.

Toby Carvery Badgers Mount

London Road, Halstead, Sevenoaks TN14 7AD, UK | Restaurant
P: 01959 534777

Rating: 4 (3224) Price Level:

I had the carvery, and it was delicious and cooked to perfection. As I have allergies to nuts and sesame, waiting staff offered to collect my food for me and had in-depth knowledge of allergens, chef was also happy to check on this. I would have preferred some more vegetables and switch up of meat variety but it was all delicious. 2 other members of our group went for vegan options of which there were a couple of options and described them as not having enough flavour but the rest of the carvery made up for it. Waiting staff were also extremely helpful when trying to get our code to work to add to the bill, will definitely be returning.

I visited here for a family meal, and we all chose the carvery option for our main. The main carvery meal was nice, however, there was a ten minute wait to be served at the carvery deck and some of the vegetables and the vegetarian gravy were not very warm. The portions for the main carvery were extremely good and the meat was very well cooked. Some of our party had dessert and all desserts were very nice. One of our party had an allergy and this was taken extremely seriously. An iPad was provided with all possible menu options so each possible choice could be checked for potential allergens. The member of staff also said there was an option to have the vegetables steam cooked separately if required. This part was excellent and should be commended. Overall we had a lovely meal but the restaurant did get very busy around standard meal times. Would recommend.

We had a very nice meal at the carvery. The food was nice, good value and the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. It was my birthday so they put. a candle in my dessert and sang happy birthday to me! The chef at the carvery was manic! Only thing was that the ice cream sundae dream didn't have crunchy honeycomb pieces, they were soft which was a bit odd
