“This restaurant is great with lovely Tapas and a very cosy feel. Really enjoyed the octopus, the chorizo and fab padron peppers. Took 1 star off as when it's busy, it's a bit tight for space. Our table on 15th November was right next to the bar area where everyone waits for their table. Try the food though!”

“We ate here last March and came back twice this time on our mid week break between Christmas and New Year We had sirloin steak (cooked to perfection for us) and salted caramel tart with ice cream which was divine! Next evening we went for the set menu but couldn't resist the steak again and caramel tart but also had starters of calamari and pate both good. Love the pictures of actors of bygone days and it feels a bit french style bistro inside All the staff are attentive and professional The place to try when in Canterbury and not a chain!”

“Went to this lovely restaurant for my bf’s birthday - completely unplanned and didn’t have any expectations but we were incredibly surprised! We ordered scallops and tuna tartar as starters. The scallops were succulent and cooked to perfection, but the tuna tartar was ok as it was a bit dry without any dressing. There’s room for improvement for the tuna tartar but it didn’t affect the overall experience. For main we had Hake in curry Dahl sauce and whole lemon sole. Both were absolutely delicious! The hake was fusion with the curry sauce, splash of chilli oil and lots of coriander - an explosion of flavours and such a pleasant surprise! The lemon sole was super fresh with silky and buttery flesh and delicate flavours. The service was great too. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would definitely be back!”

“Went to Canterbury and found this lovely restaurant by the river. Sat outside and all I can say is wow. Special set menu Monday - Friday in the day, very reasonable for the quality. Had one of the best beef carpaccio’s I’ve eaten (best was in Paris) and then a cracking nduja/salami wood fired pizza that I only just finished… shame to waste amazing food. One of the nicest menu’s I’ve seen in a while… fancied everything. The service also gets a special mention (lady with the smile and braces) couldn’t have done more for us and you can tell they had been trained well. Highly recommend if you come to Canterbury… inside good vibes and good music. Best to book especially at weekends. Happy Eating :)”

“What a great place! Turned up without a reservation, and was seated within minutes (was very busy thou). We had a young trainee as our waiter and he was great. Next on to the food, one of the condiments for the poppadoms was very different it looked dry but was full of flavour and was moist, it was delicious. The two mains we shared had a very good potion size of meat in them and both were great in taste. Very difficult to fault anything.”

“We had a wonderful lunch at The Cook's Tale Restaurant in Canterbury! As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by Asher, our host, who was friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable about the menu. He made sure our dietary requirements were carefully addressed and guided us through the options. We opted for the Meat and Vegetarian Thali, and both were absolutely delicious — full of vibrant flavors and beautifully presented. What truly stood out was the exceptional service. During our meal, Chef Alfie came over to check on us, asking if we were enjoying our food and if we had any feedback. It was a lovely personal touch that made the experience even more memorable. The restaurant itself had a cosy, festive atmosphere, with Christmas decorations adding a warm touch to the environment. Overall, a fantastic dining experience, with excellent food, great service, and a welcoming ambience. Highly recommended!”
